I've caught more steelhead on a fly than conventional gear. I started when I was 17 and have been hooked since. The time between fish is full of peacefulness, reflection, and relaxation. There's nothing more exhilarating than a steelhead ripping line off the reel. Absolute heaven.
Jamie is probably the best steelhead angler that I know. You knows and understands how to find them and how to fish for them because he came from a gear background and does not limit himself to the norm. He is also a great guy and comes from a great hard working family. Great work on the video.
I learned to catch steelhead on the 2 hander from Mark Bachman on the Sandy. Now 20 something years later I guide the GR in eastern Oregon and some of the smaller yet awesome streams in the northeast corner of the state. Learn something new every time I step in the water........
That's awesome! I used to shop at Mark's store all the time. Man do I love those northeastern rivers too! Some of my favorite fishing in the whole state. Thanks for watching!
Second film I've seen where they are fishing several of my favorite runs; probably lots of other people seeing these and realizing the same thing. Great videography. It's finally time! Deer is in the freezer, summer is over; game on ! This vid gets me stoked and thank you
If you put the time and effort in you will catch plenty on a fly rod. Most fly anglers grew up gear fishing, myself included. I don’t understand this misconception
to get vicious grabs of a lifetime, I swing classic salmon flies, usually very high the water column so I don't lose my flies that take very long to tie. The results of this is a fish coming to the surface or almost at the surface, usually the alfa or a wild fish that is much stronger than the rest.. Since i've been doing this , the results are almost always the same. I make myself suffer days upon days of no fish for a reward of this kind. I don't think I will ever go back from this method. long lines and fish high = ecstasy
Jamie looks like a standup dude that knows his stuff. Great video guys!
@@driftstone thank you and yeah he is a great human being. One of the best. Cheers!

Very tired of seeing these runs in videos … places I’ve fished nearly 30 years, way more crowded than used to be.
@@BBBKong I'm glad that you enjoyed the film, thanks for watching!
Great video! Thanks for all of your hard work. Waiting to swing for winter steel!

Beautiful! Nice work brother!
Thank you so much!
People often ask me if I fly fish. My answer is always "no I like catching fish". Respect to the patient!!!

Plus it’s really fun to catch them on a fly rod!
I started really catching fish when I started fly fishing. flies are the stealthiest of lures and fish can't resist them
A huge plus is being able to tie your own flies, just how you like them. You're always rocking your confidence flies!
Excellent video!
Glad you liked it! Cheers!
Fitting title & awesome video, chasing or swinging for stellies is at best a fleating endeavor but we keep swinging & hope 🤙🇺🇸
So true!
Got me fired up to go….thanks
Fantastic! Thanks for watching. Cheers!
Great video, but man I’m fatigued of slow motion snap T clips.
Thanks for watching!

Sounds like a good strategy!
So glad I live here in Southeast Alaska! No place even compares! Real simple!😳🤪😳
I’m jealous! Love SE Alaska!
