Definitely paint em black or silver. The intern has learning to do on this one 😂
i think like a purple would be fire
jimmy always goes bred on the bmws I think red like ant said would be fire
silver would be dope
@@helldabs Legit that was the first colour I thought of when he said vibrant, although I kinda feel like a nice gold would match the top hats of the shocks and make them pop more too
SILVER
Those look like macaroni elbows as velocity stacks. Paint it silver please
Watching all the ads so the boy Jimmy can get some bread and keep making the sick content
Skip the ads and buy some merch!
@@dabigbadwolf5081 I’m from South Africa, postal services are so corrupt they’ll take that fresh merch for themselves
@@Matthew-is2co shit..
Holy shit B! That Earnhardt shirt is sick.
Jimbo I know you're tight with Ryan Preece. Let's get a collab!!!
Brian reading my mind like "We gotta start it, just for the fact you have the trumpets on"
Thank man get's it 😎 - Taz.
8:00 3D scan them and make some fancy ones.
Nice 1st gen 😎
Not worth the effort, better touch a bit those with some nice paint
The sound of ITB's always pulls on my heart strings, nothing sounds better than that.
Paint the stacks silver and wire all the filters with a twisted set of wires but all of them linked together, so it's " loop, twist, bridge, loop, twist, bridge" and so on.
This engine is so going to sing on the dyno! The sound of a BMW with a straight six and ITB's is as a sweet old skool racecar sound and it has some magical vibe to it. If it doesn't give you goosebumps when this engine is revving high and sings, you are either death or no carguy
Aluminum stacks are pretty cheap, certainly cheaper than the oem airbox you hacked up for macaronis. BTW they're tuned for the flow in the box, outside they're just like any stacks the same length. Nothing beats the sound of itb's tho keep it up 👌
Most likely he got the airbox free from a buddy i am guessing
paint them in the factory BMW livery colors! legit.
E30 and rhd E36 are and forever will be my favorite builds honestly ❤
Be careful with those filters. I've heard horror stories of them degrading and getting sucked into the engine!
Hope he see's this. He mentioned tieing them but didnt do that either even after seeing how much suction they have.
@@Synthetic-Chicken It is the same, even if you tie them, the issue is that they get sucked in and break off, maybe it can be aliviated by having some kind of steel mesh on the inside keeping them from going in but still, those things are far from stellar in terms of airflow so you better just run without filters (unless you plan to run on a dusty area) or get something decent like one that is like a dome that covers all of the stacks, that gets way more surface area so it allows more air without sucking the filter in
Velocity stacks yes bro that's how we do it in south Africa driving mornings hours to wake up the neighbourhood lmao
hey man, nice profile picture
Nothing nicer than an N/A car with throttles on the open road, window down, cool 5am air making magic happen.
Yes Bru nothing better potte. They must be open though no filter life...
Duuuude crazy set up
Most fucking annoying
Honestly what has happened to this channel man. It is seriously seriously good to watch. Watched from the start and now every single video is the best car content on RUclips hands down nothing touches it. Big big love from 🇬🇧
That RASP !!! That is PURE Heavenly Note !!! 🎶🎶🎶 Reminiscent of Old skool LeMans/GrandPrix Racecars!!! 🏆Bravo boys! Bravo
what's up from south africa, love to see some bmw content

Even tho I’m not the biggest German car fan. Jimmy still makes it all seem so interesting. I’m still here no matter what 🤘🏻
jimmy inspired me to get an e36, ive always loved bmws but only owned Japanese cars. love this channel!
thats going sound crazy and you sir are a genius for cutting up a factory air box
Jimmy O presents: UK and Euro friendly teatime posting. =]
As for colours? Black, light blue, dark blue, red, black, black. =]
Anytime B haul talks it’s so humble I press life every time
you should make a video of the jz s13 doing some highway pulls
Oakes coming through with 🔥🔥 content. 👏🏾👏🏾
You should get 2” pvc pipe and use pitbike pod filter! You dont want dirt or one of those filters sucked in!
The piss tray intakes good name for a band..
Colour matched the strut tops with the intake. .I like it the way it is raw sound raw look .
Ant is spot on... the stacks need to be red to match the other red accessories in the bay.
I actually like the aged look. Gives it character.
maybe putting the air filters further in will prevent them from collapsing when you rev it out, great video btw!
I’m not generally a bmw guy but jimmy really be tempting me with these cars
Get in before the prises rise
Get in with it man, best worst mistake I ever made 😂
My favorite RUclipsr by far
You GOTTA get the aluminium trumpets, they'll look so sick
Idk why people aren’t interested in the ITBs , you’re making a bad ass e30. Unique
Money lol
And sourcing the shit
Just because some people don’t have the money , or sources , idk man. Still way different than anything that anyone does on RUclips.
2k for all of that isn’t even a bad deal either.
@@ryanbrunell7078 100%. I love that he’s doing it but what I meant is that not a lot of people are willing to throw that at ITB’s for the gain you may or may not get. Plus like Jimmy said sourcing the stuff a lot of time is also half the battle. Wasn’t trying to take away from the idea at all.
Those high compression intake sounds always amaze for being a bimmer owner myself ( the one in my profile pic)
Make a mold of the stacks and cast them in aluminum, sand/polish them then make a custom housing to go around them with a large single inlet so you can use a big cone filter. that way you can angle the filter in a desired direction for optimal cold air and you're less like to hydrolock the engine in less than desirable conditions.
Gold! So it matches the coilovers top.
Some filters come with coil springs inside that don't impede airflow but help keep the filter structure and keep it from being sucked into an engine. These need to be pulled all the way down on the trumpets and lose a little filter surface area, figure a way to internally support them from flexing and being sucked in, or go with some others that already have internal support. Super sweet build and I love that you're embracing the NA power on this car! Good NA motors are some of the most fun, even though you make less power than the turbo build! And that sound bro!!!
paint them black and get a nice fine mesh and wire them! looks better and wont get sucked in
Black on the outside and bright red on the insides
Aluminum bracket with the trumpets painted black with hardware polished.
this engine is going to by a symphony!
Definitely paint them gloss black on the outside and flat red on the inside, that contrast would look phenomenal!!! I bet my life on it!
If you put a little dab grease on each one of those ball and socket joints on the throttle linkage it'll work butter smooth known from experience
You can get plumbing (no-hub) couplings that have a nice stainless steel band that will stretch fit. Did it on my S54.
paint the stacks white..white reflects heat..use high heat powder coating and only paint the outside so the engine doesnt suck in any particulate
Gold itbs should always be gold
Wrinkle red sounds the goods
Silver outside, black on the inside. With a tight mesh filter!! 😍
you need to make a duct through one of the driverside headlights
This ✌
What would a duct do without running a plenum?
Check the sound without the filers on and just the trumpets + IF the trumpets would be lade pur of metal the intake sound would resonate amazingly.
White stacks look sick
May want to zip tie/wire tie chicken wire or equivalent around the velocity stacks before the filters are on so it doesn’t suck them in. Sounds sick!
Those oem rubber itb connector thingys are like 80 each if i remember correctly. If not more.
Yellow to pink fade on the stacks. Flex on LZ
Those ITBs look fire
*Whenever you drill in situ like that just have the vacuum cleaner pipe running next to it. All the drillings will be sucked up out of harms way! I used silicon hose and made my own long velocity stacks using the factory ones at the end.*
Bro, that’s one of the best sounding engines I have ever heard. Now I have to dig my e36 out of the barn and rethink my swap.
Definitely paint them GOLD!
Paint 'em gold! Gold with a black car would be awesome!
Great video! Add a little paint and maybe a some mesh to the in side of those filters.
Just an idea for the injector wiring. If you still have your m20 take the ignition wire case and use it as a case for the injector wires. I think it’s smaller than the injector case
that yellow looks fucking siiiiiick.. something vibrant for sure
white stacks on the black would look pretty cool.
PSDesigns have some on their site with the BMW M colors that looked pretty cool (2 bavarian blue, 2 violet & 2 red)
Silver all the way for the trumpets
Green! Signal Green!
Trumpets would look sick in gold with some flake, something to match the coilovers.
Hell yeah. Was looking forward to this all day.
Question: shouldn't there be springs inside those filters to prevent them getting crumpled under load or possibly getting sucked in if you were to go full throttle for a long period of time?
Yeah it should be internally supported to prevent it collapsing, also the spring keeps the filter the right distance from the opening AFAIK.
And it should be secured, too.
On the other hand those filters were recommended to Jimmy so can just blame that person if something goes wrong 😇
Hopefully nothing bad happens and we get to hear some wide open itb sounds soon!🤞
Oh yeah, those are going to turn inside out...
That yellow is growing on me, gloss yellow would slap
The yellow looks fine but white would be cool too
Build a heat shield for these stacks! You'll be pulling a ton of hot air without one. Pretty easy to build a small shield out of aluminum or something that goes under and in front of the velocity stacks and directs flow from the factory location
S52 e36 here. Fully floored on doing ITBs
Oakes channel back with the fyrefire
Elbow pasta looking ITB's hahaha 🤙🏼
Nardo grey would look sick on those stacks
Yo Brian’s intimidator shirt is sick as hell.
That collar on the throttle cable lets you remove the cable without undoing that set screw on the cable.
I would say a nice yellow I got a yellow decal on my firebird and it gives it a nice look
Nice” satin cement grey “ will look fire on trumpets jimmy “ ..
ITB throttle response is unbeat
Jimmy,Brian and Ant y'all rock! Love the channel and content keep up the great work! I'm here for the algorithm! Peace
That looks sick going to sound soo good
definitely copper for the horns
It'd be a little bright but the 3 ///M colors, each set of 2 gets a color of the stripes.
That oakespec looks 👌🏽
I’d say if they’re plastic just go with black! Can’t go wrong with black, works with everything
Fave car of the fleet
RHD makes ITBs for everything. Especially BMWs.
Yo Jimmay ,baby . Let’s get a little ITB ASMR action goin on here for the dyno video .
The filters didn't really quiet it, it definitely gave it more of a warmer note though. It sounds amazing!
White would honestly look dank if you can keep em clean, but silver or black are solid options that will be less of a pain
So excited to see how good the throttle response is with those!
They should definitely be black or silver, the aluminium block paint might make them look pretty good
Cant wait to hear the sound when iets tuned
Paint them in Jägermeister Orange
that would look sick🔥🔥
Those filters need support springs to stop them from collapsing
Maybe 3D print a cover for the injector harness that clips on to the fuel rail.
Carbon fiber hydro dip the trumpets
Sick video man and grey would probably look good
Don't use the factory stacks Jimmy!! (PLEASE READ)
I'm an aircraft engineer here at Boing in Orange County, CA, As well I've owned 3 s52(s) over the years. (1 currently)
Long stacks are not friendly to the s52 platform when at atmospheric pressure. Shorter trumpets allow for more direct power at higher RPM's, which these engines drastically need. They carry an even powerband at lower RPM's but with these cars being pushed above 5k revs, they slow off power around 4.8k - 5.2k. For a more linear powerband, shorter stacks are a must.
Definitely gotta keep the yellow to orange fade, for the LZ S15 look
Sick sounding. I've seen in person yesterday awesome 👌work guys
