    1944 and up when you see tree branches covering everything. The Allies had total air superiority, the Germans could not move in the daytime.

    YES I THINK THE YEAR WAS 1944. THERE WERE AMERICAN M4 SHERMAN TANKS . THE SECOND FRONT WAS STARTED ON D DAY

    I was always curious about the Officer shown at 8 seconds, he looked so pissed off at something and the subordinate looked equally uncomfortable. I wonder what it was?
    Apart from losing the war of course!

      The pissed off officer is Sturmbahnfuhrer Albert Frey from the LSSAH and his regiment had just been thrown in at the deep end trying to stop operation Epsom June 1944.

      Just read that that the man topped himself and his wife in 2003, she was terminally ill apparently. No matter what his allegiances were, that's very sad.

      @@user-mn7pf8mi2b Und mein Großvater war erstaunt das Menschen auf dem Land so leben konnten wie bei den Sowjets. Dort waren fließendes Wasser aus einem Wasserhahn und WC's völlig unbekannt. Und das geerntete Getreide lag offen herum und verrottete größtenteils.

      @@user-mn7pf8mi2b Mein Großvater hat zwar gegen die Russen gekämpft, aber er hat sie nie gehasst. Im Gegenteil, er hatte oft Mitleid mit der dortigen Bevölkerung. Einmal erzählte er mir das sie in Kriegsgefangenschaft von russischen Frauen heimlich mit Kartoffeln versorgt wurden. Das war verboten. Trotzdem haben es Russinnen getan.
      Ich glaube das viele deutsche Soldaten so gedacht haben.
      Der Krieg der Deutschen gegen die Russen war ein Bruderkrieg.

      @@dieterrahm4044 ich zweifle nicht an Ihren Worten!Nur wie kann man das den Angehörigen der 900.000 Hungernden im blockierten Leningrad erklären ?Wie erklärt man das - meiner Mutter ,die zusammen mit drei kleinen Schwestern und Großmutter 1942-1943 in Stalingrad überlebte und in einer Grube lebte - Gras und Katzen aß?

      @@user-mn7pf8mi2b Leningrad was a Soviet failure for not breaking throw German lines until 1944. How can you blame the Germans when the point of a siege is to starve your enemy into submission. Your side took to long to liberate the siege so thats the results. The civilians of Stalingrad was should have been evacuated but the where not. Your great leader Stalin thought it would be better to have women and children also in the battle.
