Great tips. I'll add: Wipe off the workpiece between each sandpaper grit. This will keep the more coarse shavings off the finer coarse sandpaper.

When sanding the inside of a box, like a serving tray or trunk.......use blue tape to prevent the spinning disc from carving out grooves in the adjacent panels.

Thank you so much for your quick and informative video tips ! I’m a novice furniture painter starting to dabble into sanding and painting furniture. I’ve had a tough time finding a video showing how to use the random orbital sander properly. I’ve especially been trying to find out the proper way to start and stop. Your the first one to address it. One question I still have is how do I know what speed to set on my sander. My purpose is to strip finishes off of wood furniture. Thanks again for your video and hopefully you’ll be able to answer my last question. 👍

I think you covered it all pretty well. I know that the random orbit sander will damage the corners when you bump into it, so I just do a hand sanding with a sanding block. I didn't think of putting a rigid materials at the side to protect it. Now I know what to do next time. Thanks for sharing my friend.

Great tip video as always. Lots of useful info in there. I keep a deck of old playing cards in the shop. Great for shims and for using like you were talking about on vertical walls while sanding. I've also had those cubitron disks for a few weeks. Absolutely love them. Great product. Thanks!

I'm weird I guess....I love sanding. It's an early reveal of my work. I built a 5" dia hand sander with a handle on the back and a Velcro pad. I use my sanding discs with it. It's a simple build and a game changer in the sanding game. Great video and channel! Thanks Jody.

Thank you for tips! I just (yesterday) accidentally burned the "brake" of my dewalt sander and had to buy a new replacement for it. I was putting pressure on it like you said NOT to do (1:43) 😐 and yes I was scrubbing as well 🤦🏻‍♀️. Also not sure if you receive a small something from the links you provided for the sanding discs and the backing pad but I used your links to purchase some. I do 4, 5, 7 and 8. I know most of them are not a good idea but I still did them. I'm def going to try not to do them anymore. It's literally costing me more time and money. Thank you for the tips 👌🏻

A small something, yes, so thank you very much. I often times find myself breaking the rules with sanding all the time. Sometimes I have to remember to slow down and do it right. Hard to do when you're always on the go. I think you're going to love the disks! Let me know what you think.

Excellent information. One problem I have with leveling the surface is the one when sanding a floor where you don't want to sand the whole floor down to the depth of deep gouges.
Just one tiny spelling correction: At 3:56, "corner" is missing an "r".
