How do they increase the power from the standard 245hp to 300hp?
Would take the Civic Type R for FWD. The Golf R is just much better peace of mind in all weather conditions, and will beat darn near anything you'd encounter in a day to day basis, from a stoplight.

The extra driving modes are due to the DCC which I'm assuming the R had as an extra unless it comes as standard on the R?

This car had DCCs and didn't have the extra driving modes... Weird
If the Clubsport has DCC it will (should) have the Nurburgring mode, which is basically softer suspension with everything else in sport mode. I would be surprised if the CS 45 didn't have Nurburgring mode as standard (to add the Akrapovic exhaust with the "Sport" package on a regular Clubsport, it would have been 3,000 euro more on the price tag where I live).
Otherwise, the Sport Package on the Golf R Mk8 will include a "Drift" mode, which adds more rear wheel activation, allowing for easier drifting than a standard Golf R without it.
I’m trying to decide between Type R FK8 and the Clubsport. I’m used with the DSG but I have no problem switching back to manual. It will be my daily but I will take it to the track, where I want it to perform. I drove the Type R, but not long enough to have a definitive opinion. If feels grippy, racy and I like that, the steering feels heavy, I know they made it like that on purpose, but that doesn’t necessarily mean more feel. What I don’t know and it will be very hard to test because there are none in Romania, at least where I am, how the Clubsport feels. On paper they seem pretty similar. The german press sais the Golf in faster. There is a video (Sport Auto) with a direct comparison on track, where the Golf is faster but they might have kept Honda in forth instead of third in the last 2 corners. The British media said the other way around. The Honda seems to be a better platform for adding some 18 light wheels for track and wider tires. I know that is imposible on Golf, anything wider than 235 will rub. But I know the car, I had Golf and Leon before, including MQB it is the platform I know. Could you please give me your opinion on these 2 card? Should I jump into the unknown and experience something different with Honda? What do you think, which one is faster, how the mk8 CS feels on fast driving compared to FK8 type R? Thanks!

In Canada we don't get the clubsport option. Just the standard gti. So the golf r was an easy choice
Couldn’t agree more - I had a mk8 R for 2 months - dull, dull, dull. Bought a Mk8 Clubsport and love it. Touchscreen is crap though and nearly ruins the whole car experience.

Really wanted to buy a Mk8 GTI CS or R, but that interior quality and touch screen extravance totally killed it for me. It's just horrible. So I will be holding on to my beloved - and high quality and analogue - Mk7.0 Performance for many years to come :-)
I bought the Mk8 Clubsport thinking the touchscreen would be ok - it’s not and nearly ruins the whole experience. Best to set up as you want and use voice commands and it’s workable - just

I’m not bothered about the price but I’d go for the Clubsport or Clubsport 45 over the R, the awd isn’t worth the extra weight of a very obese man to me, unless you live in North America, Canada, Siberia or Scandinavia, somewhere like that.
The 45 has Nurburgring mode
When have you driven this car? 'Cause when I drove it, 3 weeks ago, it didn't have Nurburgring mode

Remember, car specs differ quite a lot between countries. This car had DCCs but no Nurburgring mode. And if you ask me, it doesn't need it either :)
@@TunedIntoCars I bought this over the r for the price and the wheels and alloys make the difference on handling! Well not the exhaust! I didn’t think up was different to eu models! On the uk reviews! Love your video tho thank you keep them coming !!

I really want to like the Golf but just that interior left me flat, great drive though can't dispute that
No Nurburgring/special mode means only auto gear shift up and i will give this car a pass

I've had zero issues running a Bmw m2 for 3 years in Sweden. I'm pretty sure the Clubsport will do just fine in the rain
Never wanted 4wd I live in the uk with the same sort of weather 😂 amazes me how some people drive 4wd cars they think if they don’t accelerate through the corner its still 4wd getting them round and it can brake better in wet\snowy conditions because it’s 4wd 😂

The r in Ireland is at least 11k more expensive than the clubsport. If specced in certain ways it will go over 20k in difference. Mental money for something that is very similar.
Each to their own but I don’t see the value in it and I bet very few are sold here. That could be a good thing though as they will be like hens teeth.
Golf r 8 is quicker to 60 and a roll. Already been done

Can you have a conversation like a normal person? I said that once you get going it's difficult to tell theee two cars apart, performance wise. I never said the Clubsport is faster...
@@TunedIntoCars difficult. It's over a second faster to 200km. The r is in a complete different league. Yes, I've driven both and choose the r.
@@davothegreat9990 100-200 km/h they're both at 11.5s. So from launch the R is 1s quicker because 4wd,but most time you're on the move not launching, plus the gti is 100kg lighter and more fun in the twisties.
It's so sad how bad looking is this generation of the Golf. Inside and out. I used to own Golf GTD 6th gen and the best looking is probably the 7,5
Don't do that. Just because of all wheel drive. Front just sucks!
