    Replacement arrived!By the way, I did forget to mention that the original lure did have a decent strike however as most anglers will attest you can get a hit ruclips.net/user/postUgkxCbNOWAGmn6nfbCbJDmasvBq7J38KZNw2 and fish will hang on and release lure. I used the replacement lure yesterday and ran thru a Shimano Waxwing, Kastmaster, Bobber (set to sink). I found the does run deep (I casting on the flats 3.5'). Make sure you adjust your rate of retrieve and rod tip angle (up) to prevent getting snagged on bottom. Used it a couple of times and action was very lifelike (looked like local bait fish for trevally), craftsmanship very good....however eyeball fell out. I asked for replacement and it is on it's way! It was very easy to change out treble to single inline hook.

    Good stalking skill. Reminds me of wild trout fly fishing on small lochans, although I creep round on hands and knees sometimes if I see a cracking fish. Maybe it's me but after 40 years of fishing I would take the view that first fish was a win, no need to sigh, you'd fooled it and played it pretty much to hand. The bonus is it wasn't handled and mauled just to get trophy photos, which generally is not good for fish. I need to get more into lrf, done some sea fly fishing like that - pollack on a trout rod is next level. They chase a small tube fly up from deep rocks like a trout snapping at it. Locations a bit like that but dropping down deeper.

    Really good video which perfectly frames the North Devon coast. I’m originally from Ilfracombe so it brought back many childhood memories of the rugged coastline. I now live in Dorset and lure fish all the time so your video has definitely tempted me to go back for a few days this summer. Do-Live sticks are brilliant and have worked well for me in Christchurch Harbour for big bass but the terrain is so bland and boring compared to glorious Devon…but I am biased!

  • @johnnicholson4862
    @johnnicholson4862 Год назад

    Hi, lovely vid. You seem to have an unweighted soft plastic, and don't seem to throw it too far, then when the bass bites it seems a fair distance away. How far are you throwing that lure? I ask because I would love to throw unweighted lures, but can't get any distance with them.

    • @saltwaterjunky607
      @saltwaterjunky607  Год назад

      These Do-Live Sticks do cast particularly well but even then they are reserved for fairly calm conditions, if you're struggling to get much distance with unweighted sp's I would hazard a guess and say maybe your rod and line is too heavy for the lure your trying to use?

    wouldnt piss on lip grippers mate you lost that fish for messing around with unnecessary bs

    • @saltwaterjunky607
      @saltwaterjunky607  Год назад

      What I should have done was use the net on that first fish. Imo in this kind of location it's better to have some degree of control over the fish with the use of a lip grip, rather than having them thrash around and potentially dropped on the rocks.
