- Join me Lure Fishing for European Seabass along North Devon's rugged and stunningly beautiful coastline.
In the bright afternoon sunshine I spot my target species hunting for bait fish in a rocky gully and one lure quickly comes to mind as the perfect offering for this situation.

Jeez clear ya nose I was having my dinner watching while you were brewing greenies!!!!!!
Apologies, it was hot and sweaty and probably a bit of hay-fever too lol
I suffer with hay-fever too. I blow my snout once In a while 😂
Switched video because of it.
Replacement arrived!By the way, I did forget to mention that the original lure did have a decent strike however as most anglers will attest you can get a hit ruclips.net/user/postUgkxCbNOWAGmn6nfbCbJDmasvBq7J38KZNw2 and fish will hang on and release lure. I used the replacement lure yesterday and ran thru a Shimano Waxwing, Kastmaster, Bobber (set to sink). I found the does run deep (I casting on the flats 3.5'). Make sure you adjust your rate of retrieve and rod tip angle (up) to prevent getting snagged on bottom. Used it a couple of times and action was very lifelike (looked like local bait fish for trevally), craftsmanship very good....however eyeball fell out. I asked for replacement and it is on it's way! It was very easy to change out treble to single inline hook.
Thanks … will keep hunting …. Really enjoyed your vids x
What a place to spend a day fishing. Great vid man
Thank you my friend glad you enjoyed 😊👍
very nice videos thanks
Many thanks buddy
Awesome video, some gorgeous mark that is as well ! 👏
Many thanks glad you enjoyed 👍
Cracking Bass mate, well done. Love to have a crack of fishing there. Stunning place.
Great video 🙌🏻🎣
Cheers! thank you 👍
Nice video Toby👌
Thanks Colin 😊👍
Great video Toby, perfect ground and tactics mate, well done.
Thanks Matt, certainly different to the kind of fishing we do on your boat but the Bass are just as awesome wherever you find them 👍
Good stalking skill. Reminds me of wild trout fly fishing on small lochans, although I creep round on hands and knees sometimes if I see a cracking fish. Maybe it's me but after 40 years of fishing I would take the view that first fish was a win, no need to sigh, you'd fooled it and played it pretty much to hand. The bonus is it wasn't handled and mauled just to get trophy photos, which generally is not good for fish. I need to get more into lrf, done some sea fly fishing like that - pollack on a trout rod is next level. They chase a small tube fly up from deep rocks like a trout snapping at it. Locations a bit like that but dropping down deeper.
Thank you so much for the lovely comment it's very much appreciated 🙏🎣😊
Good skills. Great vid. Nice to se you back at it.
Thanks man glad you liked the video 👍
Nice one, glad your getting back out🎣👍
Cheers Andy, be good to catch up again for sure 👍
Really good video which perfectly frames the North Devon coast. I’m originally from Ilfracombe so it brought back many childhood memories of the rugged coastline. I now live in Dorset and lure fish all the time so your video has definitely tempted me to go back for a few days this summer. Do-Live sticks are brilliant and have worked well for me in Christchurch Harbour for big bass but the terrain is so bland and boring compared to glorious Devon…but I am biased!
Many thanks buddy I really appreciate your lovely comment. Yes indeed it makes me feel truly blessed to live around here 😊👍
Good video and great fish. Was that the middle of the day? That mark looks like a perfect hangout zone for bass.
Glad you liked the video 👍 the action that day was between 1and 2pm
Great video and l❤ the catch and release 👍👍
C+R all the way. Cheers David 👍
Proper sight hunting mate. Great video and awesome fish. Subscribed from over the tamar 😉😊
Thanks Jon I'm really pleased you enjoyed the video, always awesome seeing these fish in their own environment 😊👍
Just found your channel. Nice catch there bud, well done for not giving up after the other one threw the hook. I live in North Devon (Appledore) and will be throwing a few lures around soon, so hopefully will pick up a good fish or two. All the best and look forward to your next fishing adventures...tight lines.
Best of luck with the lures this summer mate there's plenty of places to try them around your way, glad you like the channel 👍
Get them out quietly (easier said than done I know )and you might not scare the others off, stealth is the secret to this type of fishing ,nice one 🇨🇮 good fishing
💯 Agree with you there about stealth being key to this kind of fishing, very true. Cheers 👍
Lovely hit had my first bass of the season last week! What net are you using out of interest? Cheers
Always feels good to get that first Bass of the year under your belt, nice one 👍
This is the basic net and pole set I'm using, I also have some of the accessories added to it like the net tilt system all available through major craft.

@@saltwaterjunky607 Appreciate that cheers mate!
Great video thanks…..where did you get the net I need one x
Thanks for the kind words matey, I ordered it from Japan and just took the expense import charges on the chin as I really needed a decent telescopic net myself. Was definitely worth getting though as it opens up a load more fishing opportunities with the extra long reach 👍
You need to buy some handkerchiefs or tissues...... YUK! And your net went "walkabout."
Great video
What type of scent attractant were you using on the Bennie?🎣🎣🎣
It's called Pro-Cure and it's the shrimp flavoured one. Cheers buddy 👍
@@saltwaterjunky607 many thanks for the feedback… can it be got online..
I do all my Bassing in Southwest Ireland… in Brandon bay and around Dingle … have been fishing for the past couple of days… only a few small bass and a sea Trout 😞🎣
I've always purchased mine online 👍
Great video , bought a lite rod two years ago and still waiting to find a location to use it!!! Doesn’t help when you live in Leicestershire 😞
Cheers for the comment Chris I'm glad you liked the video. It is a surprising amount of fun fishing with light lure tackle and it's really effective too even for many of the bigger fish.
Perhaps you can find some fresh water fishing if you're not close to the sea?
Hi, lovely vid. You seem to have an unweighted soft plastic, and don't seem to throw it too far, then when the bass bites it seems a fair distance away. How far are you throwing that lure? I ask because I would love to throw unweighted lures, but can't get any distance with them.
These Do-Live Sticks do cast particularly well but even then they are reserved for fairly calm conditions, if you're struggling to get much distance with unweighted sp's I would hazard a guess and say maybe your rod and line is too heavy for the lure your trying to use?
What’s the net? Looks handy
It's a Major Craft Hexa net with the 4m First Cast Handle 👍
What’s that weighing tool you use?
The one I'm using is called a Boga grip
What is the red belly lure you were using please . and size if you can please
That was the Megabass Dark Sleeper 3.8in 3/4oz Red Belly
Lovely fish my friend, are you using the Century HPR or Vectura-Ti? Really regret selling my Vectura, a serious bit of kit, fine British kit..
Cheers!! Yes it's the HPR mate, been my go-to shore Bass rod for more years than I can remember now. Have the lighter model too, awesome rods like you say and love Century rods anyway.
Where about are you fishing mate can't workout it out
Hello, what leader length you are using? Great video thank you!
Hello and thank you.. My favered leader length is normally around 4-5ft
@@saltwaterjunky607 Thank you so much for your help, tight lines! 🎣
Cast right handed winds in left-hand with handle on right.... why?
I never even realised I cast funny until people mentioned it in my videos. No particular reason I do it that way only that I find it the most comfortable way for me. It works which has to be the main thing.
wouldnt piss on lip grippers mate you lost that fish for messing around with unnecessary bs
What I should have done was use the net on that first fish. Imo in this kind of location it's better to have some degree of control over the fish with the use of a lip grip, rather than having them thrash around and potentially dropped on the rocks.
You make it look so easy but for crying out loud, get a tissue 😂
Will do, thanks 👍
Never heard sniffing like it. Nasty!
Wow, please blow your nose! Otherwise, great vid
Noted, thanks
You've spent most of the video just climbing over rock give up on your videos it will be better
Had to stop watching due to awful music.
Sorry to hear the music wasn't to your taste my friend it's impossible to please everyone
There is always the mute button mate
