  • I wanted to make a short tutorial video as I needed to cover a few nicks / scratches that have gone through the paint on my 2018 Honda Accord Sport 2.0 Manual. It seems as though Honda has applied the bare minimum amount of paint to this car and it suffers from easy paint cuts that go straight through the paint. I decided I was going to fill in a few of them and thought someone could benefit from the video and see the realistic results.

I bought the exact same pen and touched up my CTR. I bought it used with 7k miles and it had 4 very small chips. 3/4 were touched up to my satisfaction, the 4th spot given that the chips were at a downward angle on the sides didn't fill up like I wanted. However 3 people I showed the touchup to either said it was barely noticeable or didn't look bad so I'm probably being hard on myself. Either way all is good 👌🏽.

The clear coat sponge brush is better than either, Informative video, I just finished using the pen & brush today, on my wife's 2018 Honda Accord "BLUE" ( the dumbest way to open it tho but so logical). I had scratches on the bumper unfortunately too deep to make a difference.

Very good tip about the tape... I clean the nicks with electrical contact cleaner to remove any wax or silicone. I apply the paint with a tiny artist's paint brush. Then I let the paint dry for at least a day. I have a separate clear coat pen I got from Amazon that has a UV light for curing. Otherwise park your car so the sun can cure the clear coat with UV.

Come back and hit it with 2000 grit paper and then 3000 grit paper and then hit with the clear coat and finally polish it. That is the proper way. Hope this helps

    • @RpTheHotrod

the masking tape is to the side of the damage. It's just a visual hint so you know where to apply the clear coat once the paint dries. It's essentially a, "HEY! Right next to me here is a spot you need to clear-coat!" since once you paint it, you may lose track of where you applied the paint as it gets lost in the rest of the paint already on the car.
