Marta was not only a worrier, she was a WARRIOR. How she and her sister survived this horror as little children was mindblowing and unbelievable. The scene where she got Eva out of the Hospital as a little child of 17kg and pulled her through the snow so she doesn't get killed made me cry most out of all those terrible, horrible scenes she has described. Although it's so sad what has been Happening to their Family and siblings in the unspeakable Holocaust crimes, I was so glad to hear that she and Eva survived the Camp together - against all odds. It was not only due to luck, although it was an almost unreal amount of luck saving their lifes. But it was also the fact that these were outstandingly smart girls who made all the right decisions even at this young age, which they learned from their strong and courageous family and especially their father, who seemed to have been a very smart and caring man. This Story is extraordinary important and emotional, and everyone should listen to it. I feel like it has changed my life. Thank you so much, Marta, for telling us your story. What's so sad about listening to these survivors, who were only children back then is that they don't remember much about their happy lives as children before the war, it just shows you how that whole horrible hell even changed innocent kids forever

I’m a 79 year old Welsh woman living in Colchester England for 43 years. My grandad fought in WW1 in the battle of the SOMME he returned unable to walk after standing for months in frozen mud trenches.He became a bespoken shoe/ boot maker in our mid wales town and often he could be seen in my dads work shed where he had a large wooden bench and made boots and shoes for disabled people pro bono(free) he never spoke of what he’d been through,he died when I was 13 he made my grammar school satchel and really smart brogues. Nobody told me until later.I’d passed my 11 plus he told my mum “ well of course she did”.when I found out I knocked at the front room door and told him thank you grandad,I love you,he coughed and said “you did well” my gran had died when I was 9 she was a healer a very special woman.oh dear I’m going on again I’ve been ill since 2001 in bed for the last 4+years. Bless all of you.

Marta and Eva were also Mengwle twins, despite not being twins. Marta was my Aunt as is Eva. Both incredible ladies. I feel so blessed to have grown up with them.

These testimonies are mesmerizing and very important to be documented and remembered. I say mesmerizing because it is so unbelievable that it happened - and many ppl stood by and did not protest. I am not at all questioning that it happened,, just so scary that people went along. When Marta's husband speaks in the end about her being fearful of history repeating itself- I don't blame her for feeling like that. She was an eye witness to the atrocities. I know it’s an interview and it is a topic that is very hard to comprehend but I found the interviewer lady very focused on her own questions and very matter of fact. The horror of what they went through leaves us all speechless but it is OK to react to what she is saying. It is OK to show empathy and compassion. It’s also okay to leave gaps between the finished answer and the next question, especially if she’s crying. Either way I‘m stunned by Marta and her family- wishing their children and extended family nothing but the best. Thank you for telling your story.
So important that these first hand testimonies have been taken and preserved, we hope that people will one day listen and understand this side of human nature. Unfortunately looking at recent times it seems the majority are still in denial of the motivations and capabilities of those who would be capable of such things. Yes, it’s frustrating isn’t it. I listen to a lot of these and this one is by no means the worst. I guess in the 80s and 90s there was just less recognition of trauma.
To say that I wish I could make a comment toward you now is an understatement. This horrific event (the Holocaust as a whole) captured my attention as a teenager/tween and I now teach high schoolers. Recognizing this atrocity, trying to break through the desensitization of current students so that they can understand the true gravity of this- understand the absolute inhumanity of this- is something I struggle with. I truly will never be able to fathom what people like Marta (may you rest in eternal peace with your family and God) have gone through, but I only hope that I can show my students the importance of tolerance and kindness and HUMANITY. This documentary was painful but so, so worthwhile. Thank you, Marta- you live beyond your life here on earth.

I am writing this as I listen to “surviving child experiments in concentration camp” and wondering if someone is interfering with your podcasts as the awful noise that sounds like a mechanical digger or bulldozer is making it difficult to listen too. I am not having this trouble on any other type of podcasts.
I have listened to many of your recorded testimonies right up to the October 7th ones….thanks to the brave people who have shared…..they reach us how precious loved ones are and to cherish each other always every day expressing love. We do not know what a day will bring. One thing however it seemed appalling that he people from the Oct 7th massacre were being put up in an incredibly noisy environment, with very loud noise of approaching planes and the continuous disturbing noise of what sounded like a bulldozer. This was so distracting and frustrating making it difficult to listen to the folks sharing, so much so I almost gave up. Also I could see how it unsettled those dear people who had endured so much. Surely a quiet and tranquil place could have been found for them both to recover and to be interviewed. Hope you can deal with this, even removed the background noise from interview because they are ver very important. Thank you.

The woman that this survivor is speaking about, who killed several SS members officers, was named Margaretha Geertruida MacLeod. She actually was a professional dancer that was well known for her dancing by many Germans.

Eva was Marta's older sister was with her in Auschwitz. Two very brave young girls.

Wow! What an enlightening, humbling, and inspirational testimonial from this dear woman. I'm so moved by her ability to openly speak about the hardships she and her family endured. All those who suffered are not forgotten. I greatly respect those who are so very strong. Most compelling of all the stories I watched. No one should experience such horrors in their lifetime. What an extraordinary strong woman. I am so so sorry you and your family and all the Jewish people of that time were subjected to such pure evil. I pray it never happens again.

Thank You for this precious interview. Im from Bratislava and I know many of the names and places. For example Szombathely is 1,5 h from Bratislava with a car today, so in that time it must took hours by train and it certainely wasn't an easy and safe trip for her mother.

To just add to my previous post. I am writing this as I listen to “surviving child experiments in concentration camp” and wondering if someone is interfering with your podcasts as the awful noise that sounds like a mechanical digger or bulldozer is making it difficult to listen too. I am not having this trouble on any other type of podcasts.
Hatred is taught someone once told me. I have been to Bratislava it is a very beautiful city and my brother and I visited the Jewish museum there.

I have listened to many of your recorded testimonies right up to the October 7th ones….thanks to the brave people who have shared…..they reach us how precious loved ones are and to cherish each other always every day expressing love. We do not know what a day will bring.
One thing however it seemed appalling that he people from the Oct 7th massacre were being put up in an incredibly noisy environment, with very loud noise of approaching planes and the continuous disturbing noise of what sounded like a bulldozer. This was so distracting and frustrating making it difficult to listen to the folks sharing, so much so I almost gave up. Also I could see how it unsettled those dear people who had endured so much. Surely a quiet and tranquil place could have been found for them both to recover and to be interviewed. Hope you can deal with this, even removed the background noise from interview because they are ver very important. Thank you.
Sometimes I think human beings are the lowest of the species when 0u hear stories like this. I will never complain again
It wasn’t luck, it was the hand of The Almighty. A lesson for today… so many things she said have rung true these last few years… history forgotten, easily repeated.
The woman that this survivor is speaking about, who killed several SS members officers, was named Margaretha Geertruida MacLeod. She actually was a professional dancer that was well known for her dancing by many Germans.
