Plywood has glue. Just like old sneakers and boots lose their soles when the glue gets old, I wonder about plywood's aging qualities. I recently used a piece of plywood as a base to mount a very small solar panel on my Arizona roof, for a security camera. A year later I replaced it with a solid wood board because the plywood had completed delaminated. Sheets curled up like a sail.
Thank you for this video. I'm searching for a new sofa after Mitchell Gold went out of business after taking my $$ on a sofa I ordered. So I'm starting the search all over again. I know exactly what I want but I'm glad you addressed the bench cushion option. I want a bench cushion but now I'm not so sure. I use my sofa every single day and don't want it to look sloppy and I don't want to have to fluff it up constantly. Now I'm reconsidering. Again, thanks for such an informative video. It's just what I need at just the right time.

And yes, if you want a low maintenance sofa, a bench seat may not be the best option. But if you do decide to go ahead with it I would really pay attention to fabric to make sure it's sturdy enough to prevent crumpling as much as possible.
I love your presentation style. You are a wealth oh useful information that guides people like me through the design process. Performance fabric is killing me on my Ethan Allen couch. The couch is substantial but the cushions are FOAM! I need the cushions redone. And recovered. The couch will end up costing us an arm & a leg!

Excellent video about sofas. Curious to know what you think about a tight back sofa vs. a sofa that has cushions for the back.
I don't mind it. I find a fight back is more forgiving in terms of maintenance than a bench seat :-)
