I drove a range rover and I can actually agree with this guy. when it is maintenance time, the hit your pocket will be heavy.
Thinking bout getting 2024 Range Rover velar just doing my research
I’ve had mine for 4yrs now and haven’t had any issues with it. It could be the dealership you’re buying them from are shitty! That’s why it has issues.

I had almost all car brands. Ever since i switched to Lexus/Toyota after getting multiple advice’s from mechanics… i will never ever turn to other brands again. Been driving Lexus now for 9 years and had 2 different models. Literally 0 problems with both of them..

By early march 2024 went to my old lad garage, he is a specialist in LR one of the very first to deal with range rovers L322 onwards here in South America and I saw a brand new Velar 3.0 with less than 25.000 km on it , it’s engine block with a small crack from inside out of the piston n2 hole. At first glance seems that the internal shirt of the piston with time expanded faster forcing the external wall of the block over time that fatigue crack appeared. I. The other hand can’t complain of my old faithfuls 300tdi and AJ V8 supercharger on my garage.
Central Junction Box! I had a Velar for 2 weeks before this went out, and the car completely died. Couldn’t even be put in N. $4,300 to fix.
Be aware of this car!
My velar just get motor damaged after 40'000 km! Without forcing the car in any situation, i heard one day that the motor sounds different.
On the board: no fails!
Driven to my garage: they didn't find the reason first time. The second time they realise that not all cylinders worked right.
They changed the motor for 20k Euro, thank god i had the warranty.
Just after the repair, i got rid off this car, so i dont need to drive a car with full of surprises.
Beautiful car, but shit engine and software.... stay away from it
Which motor model was your velar ?
2020 Velar randomly cuts off when stopped. Had it reprogrammed apart of factory recall and still an issue.
Start stop issue ? Or adblue system fault
Its on auto shutoff. Tap the A with the circle around it on the bottom screen. Supposed to save gas

Audio goes off at 4:20ish
I've had a problem with my right side blind spot monitor . It starts flashing when switching lanes but nothing is there. JLR service has not been able to fix this issue.
Wiring problem maybe.
How sad that such a handsome car have so much problem.
The price for looking this good is too high for me. That's why I only buy Lexus. May not be as beautiful but I value my peace of mind.

Must mention the DRL going out. Over $5k to replace 1 HL assy.
Love the look of these but these issues seem to common for me. Also scared off by the insurance
These problems (indeed the entire narrative) are identical to the problems you highlighted for the Discovery Sport. Is it coincidental or are they simply rehashed to provide content?
If you haven’t noticed they use the same drive train and basically everything almost the same. So most problems are going to be the same.

Do you reckon after the old velar models were called in, this problems remains in 2024?
The new 2024 are very recent so we can’t really see the reliability issues as of yet
