Being in the exact situation with my father , and without the POA, and struggling....we have decided to sort out matters for my son also, so he isn't left with the same problems, and having to apply for a costly deputyship.... It cannot be stressed enough how much the POA is important to have in place .. WELL SAID !!💗❤
We had POA for my FiL, it was extremely helpful when dealing with banks. Last year we wrote our wills did both POAs for us both. It is so important ❤xx
Sending lots of love Caroline to you all
I’m so sorry about your dad deteriorating it’s a terrible illness I enjoyed your try on haul the clothes were fabulous xx❤️❤️❤️❤️
Happy Christmas. Another great year of entertainment and interest via your videos, Caroline.
Hi Caroline. Interesting topic on wills and POA. This is a second marriage for both of us. I have 2 children from a previous marriage and hubby has 3. We have done our wills and paid for our funerals. We've been talking about POA so that will be our next job. Think it's important to discuss these things xx
I never appreciated the frustration over shrink wrapping things more than when I had a flare up in my hands and wrists of a autoimmune issue. And worse - pill containers. Whatever are manufacturers thinking? I had to curtail my gym workouts as well because of that flareup and am now building myself back up. I hope every day makes you stronger! So frustrating, but I tell myself chin up, keep going. Your POA advice is spot on. ♥ xx Patty
I long for the days I was able to shop, drive, and many other things. I think I'm living my life through others now. That said, I am content and so very thankful to be alive.
Very interesting vlog Caroline I agree everything done and in place Sooner the better.💕
Great video Caroline x
Fantastic advice on the POA and wills and thank you for using your platform to inform others about these important issues
No one knows what the future holds for them so getting these issues organised gives you some peace of mind i❤
Always enjoy watching you Caroline. Have a lovely weekend with Ashley xx
Hi Caroline I couldn’t agree more about getting POAs and wills. My husband has Lewy Body Dementia and I’m so pleased we sorted these long before he became so incapacitated. Life’s difficult enough without having the worry of that! Take care and sending love to you and your parents it’s a horrible experience. xx
So sorry to hear about your husband, Irene. Dementia of any kind is a hard path for any family to travel, but Lewy Body seems particularly cruel - a friend of my mum’s has a husband who also has it.
Totally agree about the need to sort out your affairs before you need them. Any adult should put things in place as life can be very unpredictable. We did wills when our daughter was about 8 years old to nominate guardians for her in case anything happened to us. We updated them a few years ago now that she’s in her 30s with 2 children of her own! Another thing we did was to change our ownership of our house, so we each own half & can will our half to our daughter directly. It protects her inheritance and should either of us need to go into care, we would only have half the value of our home taken into account to cover costs. We have also done our power of attorney- I did both health and financial, my husband did only financial. You don’t need a solicitor to do them, you can do it online and just print out the paperwork. It costs £80 for each. (In case anyone thought it was very expensive) 😊
That’s interesting .x
Hello, I hope you're safe over there? I hope this year brings happiness, prosperity, love , and peace all over the world I would love us to be good friends in honesty and in trust so as time goes on it will bring something great for us in the future, hope you don't mind? I'm Frank Lange from Brooklyn New York, where are you from if I may ask?
Caroline, did you ever find the missing dress??? Inquiring minds need to know this, LOL! Loved your makeup and outfit selection this week. As for power of attorney, I needed that when my daughter went into a coma before she died at the age of 28. Believe me when I say that it made the difference in the care she received and of course handling her estate. The same situation applied two years ago when my mum passed. Everyone over the age of 18 should have the documents drawn up!
Yes, found the dress, in the 15th box I searched!
Watching you as I wait for the bathroom floor to dry from my mopping it. This is my cleaning day. Mopping the kitchen next. then dusting and vacuuming. What I did in 2 hrs. when young now takes all day. I'll soon be 74.The cane and the oxygen get in the way and slow me down. So glad my apartment is small.
Another great vlog Caroline, I love joining you on your outings, always have a good time, and show us some nice food. That pizza dough looked very professional!!I totally agree about your advice regarding the POA. It was so helpful when my Mum became unwell and passed away in 2019. Have a good week and take care. ❤❤❤
Great advice about the power of attorney. We were advised to do it for my mum and I am so glad we did. She is now 92 and having the POA has made doing weekly shopping etc for her so easy as the bank have given me a bank card for her account. Also now it’s on my mum’s medical records the dr will speak to me which is very useful as mum is now very hard of hearing and doesn’t want to wear her hearing aids! Thanks for talking about this subject we are going to get ours done soon too. Take care. Xxx
Hello Caroline, lovely vlog, really enjoy these, just make me feel happy. Could listen to you all day 😂 ❤
Thanks so much, Louise, really appreciate your kind words.
Amalfi lemon is absolutely beautiful, I have the oil in my diffusers now . I think everyone should get their Affairs in order it makes life so much easier for all concerned.😊
Hi, yes POA the same in Wales. I’m thankful I’d done this too. xx
On the subject of POA's, when my mom was diagnosed with dementia, dad was already passed, I had to face that head on. Glad I did. Now my husband is having heart problems, & not having to worry about POAs at this stressful time is a big help! I agree with you about the unnecessary shrink packaging on makeup etc. They certainly do NOT care one damn bit about their consumers & what we might have a difficult time with!!! I notice that on certain grocery wraps as well!!!! Thank you for a very informative video, Caroline. Always look forward to them! I apologize if you've answered this question in a previous video already, but I noticed your amazing sunglasses today & wondering where you purchased them from?? Have a lovely day!!!
Thank you, they are really cheap ones from Primark :) x
Lovely vlog Caroline..loads in it..thanks
X
My meal plan i do that is working for us (family of 3, also my
Partners job can change at a drop of hat)
I buy the essentials for breakfast to last 4-5 days
Meal plan for the week using what we have in the freezer and just buying the extra bits in. But I do this Sunday - Thursday in case we decide to change the meal plans, work effecting the meal plan. Family coming over etc etc whatever the interruption is. And then I find I’m
Not wasting food (also a pet hate of mine)
X
I've just last week done my dad's power of attorney.
If your on disability benefits you don't have to pay . And it does take around 20 weeks to get it back and done . X
Very interesting on the subject of POAs it’s something that I feel I need to look into thanks for sharing 👍🏻❤️
Yes, we have had our POA in place for years, very sensible.
Hi Caroline you look lovely that kimono top is gorgeous. You make me smile with your reaction to the shrink wrap but your so right. Another lovely video ❤
Thanks for the vlog Caroline POA is a must. Pizza dough brilliant.

Good morning Caroline please see message below that I woke up to this morning. Do many of your regular watchers get messages from men overseas? 🤣🤣🤣 Just thought I would highlight it!!! Have a great Sunday. xx
Thoroughly agree about POAs. My mum tried to do it for my Nan but the solicitor mucked it up. She had to deal with the court of protection and produce a receipt for every penny. Know it’s to protect old folk but made it all the more stressful. Because of that my Dad was agreeable to set one up and oh how it made life easier for my sister and me to support him when he could no longer manage his affairs. My husband and I have done them to try and grease the wheels for the future. If you can afford it seek the advice of an expert. Ours imparted a couple of nuggets of information. Things change so quickly. All
Government departments are taking forever to do things. 😡
Excellent video. Biologist moment :I'd stick with the Vit D. If you're taking D3 there's a v v low chance of taking too much. Most people 50+ (if not out of doors each day) have low, VitD. This is the time of year, to Sept, where we make our winter store of Vit D. From September to April end, our sun is too weak to produce our own Vit, D. I use capsules full of the oil - and zero complicating ingredients. Take care!
I have just got all my adult kids to do their Wills which gives peace of mind. If your adult kids have any funds, property or possessions then a Will is very important. I had Power of Attorney both medical and financial for my Mum and it made things much easier. Our Wills are done too.
I definitely need to re-do my will. I should’ve done it when I moved flats, but with everything that went on, I just didn’t get around to it.
Caroline on the subject of packaging. Those plastic child proof washing tab boxes they used wear the work of the devil. Childproof. They were Pensioner proof. I have arthritis and my finger joints are all swollen. I can’t tell you how many times I cut my fingers trying to open them. Thank goodness they went back to cardboard.
Nightmare - difficult packaging makes me so mad!
Hi, if you havent already done try putting the eye pencil in the fridge. 🎉🎉
Some good chats Caroline. The food shopping is something that changes for me. I always used to do a ‘weekly ‘ shop but now find I prefer going about twice a week ( sometimes 3). I try to think of a few meals that want to do and get the ingredients in but my freezer and cupboards always have plenty of backups and other things. After Covid I started getting more stuff in that was non perishable’ just in case’ 😂😂
Just off to a last minute booked holiday tomorrow to fremington near Barnstaple in a cottage so lots of north Devon beaches and places to explore weather permitting. Used to go there when my boys were young, now this last minute holiday is with one of my sons, my brother and my 10 years old niece and nephew - should be interesting. Not looking forward to the long drive down the M5 but hopefully will be a decent week with nice memories made.
Have a nice weekend. X
Hope you have a lovely trip x
I have set up an Endurring Power of Attorney (Australia ) covers everything for my daughters a great idea Xxx❤❤
Great vlog Caroline, my husband and i did our mirrored wills about 10 years ago but he passed away 18 months ago i said to my daughter and son we should see about POA for me.,as yo never no what the future holds. I think you can do it though a government website. Take care.♥️
Your eyebrows are great Caroline….love the eye makeup to …& the kaftan ❤
Thank you so much
We had the shopping frequency debate yesterday! Decided that twice a week is just about right to avoid wasted food, just as you said. Also - thumbs up for the stronger gusset!! 😂 xx
Agree - twice a week is prob a happy medium
The light blue are green t-shirt are such lovely tone/colours. Yes even Primarni is getting pricy! This is a chance to be more selective about what we buy and not be wasteful which I have been guilty of 😔🤔

If you weekly menu plan it is better than thinking what can I have for tea
Good advice about POA, makes life easier when people lose capacity.
I find reed defusers work better out of the light ..so never on a windowsill etc
Hello Caroline I recently bought the newly packaged diffusers from Aldi and they don't smell at all . I've tried everything I'm definitely not buying again.
I really must do POA and Will I keep putting it off 😢
Read The Angel Tree. Loved it.
Hi lovely Caroline , thank you for raising the subject of POA ,i know no body wants to think about it , but it really is important....i do hope your Dad is doing the best he can....life is so cruel sometimes...😓😓, i much enjoy a power nap....i say i'm just going to my upstairs lounge.....😅😅😅, it's the small things....luv seeing you doing all your daily bits and bobs...somehow you seem to motivate me to get going.....enjoy your week ....lets hope the sunshine returns.....xxxx💞💞💞💞
Thanks, Mandy, Dad has gone downhill a lot this year, sad times indeed, but it is what it is and as my mother in law says, 'what can't be changed must be endured'. I love your 'upstairs lounge' expression, I'm going to borrow that one!
💖💖💖
I've stopped buying Reed diffusers. I've never had any luck with them. I live in a tiny one bed room flat and had them in each of my 4 rooms all at once. Could not smell them! Neither could anyone else that visited!
Hi Caroline
Loved the earrings you were wearing when you were taking packaging off eye pencil. Can I ask where you got them please?
Totally agree about ridiculous packaging especially on makeup items. I have a tremor that affects my hands, it’s hereditary. I find it very difficult with day to day tasks. I don’t bother with makeup now unless it’s a special occasion. I still love makeup but my hands shake badly. I’m 53 in October. I rarely leave the house due to chronic pain from back injury, so I really enjoy watching you out and about. I love your fashion bits too. Im a 24 top and 18 bottom and get most of my stuff from Vinted now. It’s hit and miss but I’ve bought a couple of decent tops 😆 I’ve watched you for a couple of years now but never comment as I view RUclips through my tv.
Much love to you Caroline from a cloudy but muggy Manchester 🇬🇧 💜
Hi Diane, the earrings were from Amazon a couple of years ago, I've just checked and they don't have them any more, but there are some similar ones around if you google gold palm leaf earrings. I love buying on Vinted too, I"ve got some great bargains on there.
@@CarolineMrsM aww just my luck. I will have a look on Amazon, thank you. I’ve got the star print top in my basket already. You always look so nicely put together. Such fab earrings and love all your colourful specs. x
Love this one Caroline iwld love the pizza gadget, even tho I can't have pizza .you are going to miss kersten when they move no doubt ull speak a lot on the phone .
Regarding power of attorney I think it's very important to have those kind of things in place it makes things much easier for those who are left behind .
Just wondering when ur next podcast with Carla will ne up I missed it this week .
Thank you again for sharing with us ❤
Hopefully next week, Pat, I'm a bit behind with editing them!
I really like the earrings you are wearing Caroline.
Thank you, they were an Amazon buy a couple of years ago.
Seriously going to get my affairs in order !
Yr make up looks lovely. What bronzer do you use?
Hi Julia, thank you! Currently using a baked bronzer from Revolution that's about a decade old!
I always do a weekly click and collect shop and I definitely find it cheaper and there is no waste whatsoever. Everything is worked out. Very little room for unplanned spontaneity but cost effective and I know where I am x
Hi from Carol love your vlogs.
Thanks so much
I love the eye makeup you have on when meeting Kirsten. What pallet is this from please? Also the skin on your arms and legs are lovely brown and flawless looking I've noticed in other videos what do you use? My legs look like corned beef😂
Hi Vicky, it's the Profusion Festival palette on my eyes. I don't use anything on my arms and legs but body lotion, sometimes the slightly tinted ones if I want a bit more colour, but I can't be doing with fake tan, I'm scared I'll end up orange or streaky!
💞💞💞
I think unless you are really disciplined the more you go to the shops, the more tempted you are by impulse buys. But also take your point about food waste.
Updated our wills and set up LPAs about 2 months ago - so important for anyone really. As I understand it is more expensive to sort later in solicitor and other fees.
Good advice about power of attorney and also nèver thought about updating my will. Thank you x
Hi Caroline, I find that the black reeds don’t work as well as normal so that may be part of the issue with your disappointing diffuser.
I had to stop taking the Aswagandha because my stomach became upset too .
Oh that's really interesting. I'm gradually restarting all my supplements as I stopped them all, to try and pinpoint whether or not it definitely was the ashwagandha, but I suspect it probably was.
Did I see a folded down Pram in the back ground Caroline and you talking off
nana naps is there good news on the way .
You did see a pram, but wrong conclusion!
Hi Caroline I ruminate constantly over the pros and cons of grocery shopping weekly versus when needed for the very same reason as yourself and I haven’t come to any great conclusions as yet 😂
Glad it’s not just me!
How long did it take for your POA to be set up. I applied for ours at the beginning of November last year, and finally got them end May this year. We are both in our early 70’s and could have died in that time 😳🤣
Yes, I think ours were around six months start to finish. Although one of mine had an error on it and had to be redone, so it took even longer.
Did power of attorney for health and wealth did wills and wrote everything down in a book pensions bank accounts bill everything to make things easier when we depart
😊❤👩🏻🦳🇺🇸
It’s so important to consider wills and powers of attorney, so many people don’t like to talk about these things. Disappointed we didn’t get to see the finished pizza! x
Sorry, I meant to take a photo and pop it in at the end, and completely forgot as I was too busy eating!!
@@CarolineMrsM Haha, never mind, I’m sure it was delicious!
Aww you and Kirsten as so lovely. I subsrcibe to both of you and have followed you for a while. I bet you will miss each other, but so important to keep in touch. If you are planning to meet up near Birmingham, I have a pottery painting cafe in Studley, Warwickshire (near Straftford Upon Avon), come and see us. Spotty Pots (shameless plug, sorry!) :)
I really dislike that kind of shrink wrap, inevitably it gets rammed up under my fingernail when I am wrestling with it. Ouch. I'm just disappointed in why they have to wrap it closed to begin with; those people who have no hesitation to "sample" anything not battened down.
Agree 100%
Put eyeliner in freezer for an hour..
Lovely vlog Caroline! If your eyeliner gets soft with the heat, put it in the fridge for a while, always works for me x I live with my partner and have said to him many times about power of attorney, but although we’ve been together for 28 years, the house is his alone, he already owned it outright when we met, he still thinks I’m after his money, which is ridiculous, I have enough of my own to live on🙄🙄 He has made provisions in his will that I can live in the house until I die and indeed sell it to downsize and be nearer my children if I wish, he’s also left all other property and money to me, except his oldest vintage motorcycle, which he has left to his daughters and they inherit any remaining property when I die. Only problem is, that if he had dementia, I would not be able to release cash to pay funeral expenses or everyday bills. It’s a bit of a worry, not sure what to do, or just leave it! Hope you’ll forgive my rambling, but it sits at the back of my mind, especially as I’m 69 and he’s 74 and has a history of dementia in his family. Thankyou for sharing, take care xx
I'm thinking if he has daughters, could they possibly contest the will as they are living blood relations? I've never been sure about this before now?
@@lesleyelliott777 I’ll never know until if and when it happens xx
Oh gosh, that’s a scary situation, I’d worry about it too.
@@lesleyelliott777 Yes, who knows, I’ll only find out if and when it happens x
