Honestly you have saved my life and I would be absolutely totally utterly screwed if I hadn't have found your videos. Thanks for making me so much more confident before my exam tomorrow, you deserve so many more subscribers
Andrea, if they do the job, i'll keep making 'em. Believe me, they're not a fast-track to untold riches so the only real benefit I get from 'em is knowing people get something out of 'em!
All the best for Monday's exam. Remember: you know these texts backwards; you've revised your notes, watched the videos and, more importantly, you're hungry for success! Horrible Question bobs up? Don't panic! Keep calm and work smart. Theme of TIME (blurgh!) in 'An Inspector Calls'? Think how characters or relationships change over time. Theme of EVIL (yuk!) in 'Macbeth'? Think about Macbeth butchering Macduff's family even though Macbeth believes himself invincible. Think of Lady Macbeth calling on evil spirits to 'unsex' her. Don't want to sound like your mum but get a good night's sleep and get stuck in tomorrow! Mr Taylor
I’m in Year 8 but we have an exam week and I have an English test on Macbeth which determines what set we go into next year. I know the question is something like “How does Lady Macbeth change throughout the play?” So I’m planning on writing it before my exam so I have everything I need to know in my head. I’ve watched half way through this video and it’s already really helpful so thank you.
I just want to say a big thank you to Mr Taylor before the exam tomorrow! You have really made an optimistic impact of my revision !Also , a massive Good Luck to everyone doing the exam tomorrow ! Try your best and remember to keep positive and not stress too much :)
If a question on Lady Macbeth were to come up tomorrow, what would you say out of the points made in the video would be the best to mention? Just conscious of the amount of time we have in exams. Also, a really good, informative video. Thank you:)
sarah bains it depends what the question is asking for, i would use your own knowledge to determine what you think is best and what you can right the best quality analysis on
I guess you could talk about the metaphor: she intends to corrupt his innate goodness with her rhetoric. Also, the plosives of “pour” create a harsh tone, reinforcing her dark intentions...
Won't have time to do a video on this, I'm afraid. If a (horrible) fate question bobs up, my focus would first be on the idea that M is entirely responsible for his own fate- he's contemplating regicide, a "murder" as yet "fantastical' even before his wife gets to work on him.. Secondly, I'd look at the witches slippery promise about no man "of woman born" being able to kill M: this catapults him to his grisly fate because he becomes reckless and willingly antagonises Macduff. Finally, i'd focus on the Witches in Act 1 sc 1 saying they intend to meet with Macbeth- this would suggest M's fate, his future, is preordained and he has little control over it. You could bung in some context here about Jacobean beliefs about witches!
Only thing of his i really focus on (and, heck, it might even be his brother that says it!) it that line about "there are daggers in men's smiles," which connects to the theme of deception. Also, is Malcolm not the lad in Act 5 who calls Macbeth a "butcher" and Lady Macbeth a fiend? If he is that lad, then these phrases are vaguely useful because they show how reviled the Macbeths are, how their attempts to secure status/power have failed utterly- they are now universally despised!
Sounded good enough to me, although I thought you should have kept out Feminism angle out of the analysis because we are living in too much of politically correct nonsensical time...
So females have been doing this since the beginning. But why are you trying to hold her up as an example for women, and men as well. I think more stress should be placed on the inevitable consequences of such evil schemes.
Hmm. Not sure I touted her as a role model. And I do explain how she goes insane and dies in Act 5- that's not really positive PR for indulging in evil schemes!

Best O'Luck for tomorrow's exam. And now I'm going to sound like your mum: make sure you get a good night's sleep so you really feel match fit for it!

This helped me grasp the play so much more, thank you!!
Thanks so much, it's really helped me understand the play better especially the context which is worth 55% of my overall mark thankyou😊
The pictures were awesome!!!!!!!!
"I may pour my spirits in thine ear"-Thine is defined as 'a possessive form of thou'
Is there anything we can say about that sir?

how is fate presented?

Really helpful no exams but still studying
Fair play to you- I love hearing about people whose hunger for learning outstrips the demands of an exam!
Such a great analysis for my exam Tuesday! Thank you so much :)
Last minute assignment submission 🤣🤣🤣
can you do macduff analysis
it's an idea- might get on to this before the exam
i don't really have anything on malcom so do you think he's worth learning quotes for?

😂 OMG!! The guy could not even do this without a feminist virtue signal!!! 😂🤣😂🤣
So lady Macbeth is a modern third wave feminist!!! 😂🤣😂
