was thinking of getting a cerakote watching precious detailers promotion including some big detailing channels. decided against it. and from experience I can sayTurtle wax ICe and Seal performs well after a year in Spring rain and winter on a truck that's parked outside exposed to all Elements in Michigan Weather
I have to say, the DIY 5 year coating has been on my car since July and have been extremely impressed with its performance thus far. Live in Manitoba, Canada and while it has been a mild winter it has seemed to resist the road salt without needing a decon or mineral deposit remover. Cerakote should be ashamed of themselves for making the claims they did without clearly doing any form of product testing. There has been enough video evidence by multiple different parties to confirm it is in fact an issue. No excuses for it, need to go back to the drawing board and reformulate. I suspect their reputation has been damaged and lots will refuse to try their coatings including myself. Sick and tired of these fake detailing companies paying off/ sponsoring big time “influencers” to push crap products.
Yes and honestly I was quite disappointed with Pan pushing it. Funny it's a "great deal" at $60 US on the video yet it's $140 at Carzilla. I'll take Carpro new Quartz for $150 and currently on for $127 or 3.0 topped with S.I.C. for the same money.
In all honesty, you both should go watch the video that just dropped with Eddie Colon, Mike G, SOC, Pan and JoshV. Pan addresses his concerns, as well as the forest of the guys. Pan also said that the Cerakote launch video was a sponsored video and he was honest about that. His application/test videos were NOT sponsored.
@@Brodizzle83 Pan talked in circles for most of that video. I appreciate him disclosing sponsorships (as he always does), but it's just not possible to be free of bias when a company is paying you $15,000 or more for a review. I watch his videos because he does a great job explaining and showcasing products, but I always take his recommendations with a grain of salt.
I wouldn't even offer Cerakote on a $50 coating special. Hopefully they fix their coating because that ain't it chief. The other ones look great though!
Seriously. They claim to be a big supplier and have state of the art facilities, yet clearly have never tested this coating or this lot. Maybe that's why they wanted to give it away. If tiny brands can test their coatings to make sure they work I don't understand why Cerakote thinks it's ok to waste everyone's time.
I honestly think bead maker or clean maker is much better than cerakote's paint coating. I applied my free cerakote bottles on a large suv on Christmas, my 2 Week wash is coming up, i'm not looking forward to it 😂
Interesting to see the results. I have some of the cerakote, waiting for warmer weather to put it on. Hope I have a better experience. What happened to you active 2.0? I was looking at getting one but I don’t want to get one if it’s going up in smoke on me…

Just chiming in here with my own experience. I ordered a bunch of prismatic coatings for my gladiator supertruck built (about $600 worth of powder for reference). As thanks and probably because it’ll be shown at Trail Hero and Sema this fall, they sent me a cerakote kit. *DISCLAIMER*I am an absolute amateur when it comes to car care they advised me the formula has changed That being said I washed the gladiator (I even had to look up what a two bucket method meant) then I did some iron remover, then a clay bar, then I had a detailer friend do a polish because I wasn’t confident. After that he supervised me doing the coating. My garage is cooled to 75* and I live in the desert so humidity is low outside monsoon season. Here’s my results. The paint feels like clean glass to my hand in a glove 2 months later now that im road testing the build and washed it twice. To me water looks just like the other two in your video. Big round drops that run off the jeep fast enough that I dont get the point of drying it. I think its awesome personally and it shines almost as bright as the forged aluminum kmc beadlocks on it. Those got sprayed with clear cerakote and before and after coating they have a cool hologram effect.
Not a fan of cerakote , I coated 2 vehicles with the kit I ordered. Let’s see how they are after the winter. 1 owner contacted me after about 2 months from installation…. Ummmm
I have the DIY 5 year and it’s stellar. I’m itching to try the Armour Detail Supply Pro coating though. Gonna check out their wheel coating after I get my rims powder coated in the spring. Great content!
I mean the cerakote side of the hood did have less water sitting on it than the other sides.. maybe not as much beading but in heneral there was less water on that side without a person interacting with it
Just received my 2 bottles and now I’m not sure what to use them on. I wouldn’t pay for it or sell it. Maybe I’ll coat my mail box and kids swing set or something.
If he used KC Rs on this and it killed it that would have been really funny. Their coating is the bodyguard, but the Reactivation Shampoo is the assassin 🥷
I’m one of the few who installed this back in November. I thought maybe a bad batch, but then the videos started coming in with similar results. Fails within 3 washes. Something is terribly wrong because spray sealants can outperform this coating. Non-judgmental review: If the hydrophobics and durability were similar to other 3-5 year coatings, this would be a slam dunk. Application, slickness, and gloss are all there.
@@JamieTheCleanerEven thought the coating was free, it still took time to prep and apply the coating. I would be very disappointed if I applied the Cerakote on my vehicles! Frankly it would just be a waste of time that I can't get back! And most coatings doesn't have such specific instruction on how to apply... And not everyone would have the perfect conditions to apply it. Seems like there's more bad than good on the Cerakote coating. Thanks for making this video!
The Cerakote is becoming a huge disappointment. As a result of a RUclips video from a detailer I follow and trust, I purchased the Cerakote in the U.K. to go on a new vehicle. However, it now seems there is a curing issue with the product and I’m not spending time putting a potentially failing coating on my new car and then maybe having to correct it. I will instead treat an older car we have, just out of interest to see how it goes and Ive decided to use DIY Detail 8yr ceramic, topped with their 3yr Graphine coating on the new car.
I’ve used the hybrid solutions ceramic and their graphene product. Both tested really well by project farm. The Cerakote is noticeably better than both. There is talk about curing issues for different climates. Maybe I lucked out.
Sad to see that Cerakote is NOT beading but slowly switches to sheeting action. Slow sheeting does not mean it is gone from the surface but I hope that they evaluate this issue so many have seen. Gotta have faith they are going to improve this in 2024.
Excellent video, cerakote dead as a dodo , after I watched a podcast by 5 of the so called top detailers defending cerakote, thanks Jamie for your truthful experiment!
Hey Kev When did we defend the ceramic coating? I am confused. On my end I didn’t. We all agreed we had different results with Eddie and mines being the worse which is not new news.
@@KCKwayland the purpose of the podcast was to share the light on how everyone was having different experiences with the coating. Mike G lost a bit of Hydrophobics maybe non. Same with Josh he had perfect results. Based on temperature conditions. We also address that they should add a claim in terms of durability and what they need to improve on. What separates them from others. It has to be chemical resistant. We explained that all in the podcast I know it is long my brother. But watch the whole thing. We weren’t going to berate the company. We took it in a nice professional manner cause I was gettigg by backlash for saying it wasn’t working for me. Same with Eddie. Even Mike when he lost a tad bit of Hydrophobics first wash. Hope this clears up. If you still feel the same about it than so be it. I rather voice my status than have someone else speak for me on a comment saying I am defending something. when I clearly said it in my own channel and on the podcast about the coating and my poor results with it.

@@JamieTheCleaner I bought their very first coating in a bogo, removed the first bottle after install and used the second bottle to coat a gym machine I bought back then.
@@JamieTheCleaner I've had really good results with Mohs Evo. My DD has been parked outside for 7 months and it beads like new. It's annoying to apply though since flashes so fast. Low solids coating but good chemical and clogging resistance. I have not used anything but rinseless and Reset on it.
I would say this is rock bottom for cerakote. Can't get much worse. I'd hate to work in their marketing department. They're going to have to explain themselves. All I can picture is the south park episode about the bp oil spill...."we're sorry!" Lol, sorry I hate to say it. It is what it is at this point.
Not sure if you're being objective in your assessment, but I want to echo another commenter that between the three the Cerakote side leaves the least amount of water after each spray... while the others just create nice beads. If you believe beads beats repelling of water then I can see how you would conclude that the Cerakote isn't worthy of your consideration. Would welcome an explanation of your conclusion.
@@JamieTheCleaner Thanks for sharing the updated video..Even on the new video, I do see the beading on the top two for you, and what I'm left with is the following.. the top two for you leave beads and are "slicker" which one can make some conclusions on.. what's unclear is if you were to rise the hood fully and let it stand say 30 seconds and just show what the hood looks like at the end of that time vs. running water over them continuously, we can make a different conclusion. it just seems like the Cerakote side has less water over it at the end of each spray. Is that an important consideration vs. just beading? I'm just an end-user, no a pro, but as an engineer I appreciate your comparison but I'm still left with questions. thanks for entertaining my comments/questions.
None of these coatings are REALLY hydrophobic. Stoner and DIY are definitely more hydrophobic but they both still pool up water while being hit with the PW(not nearly as prominent as Cerakote).
The AR puts out 2.1 GPM and I think I have the 4.5 25 degree nozzle on that’s a lot of water concentrating in one area. I would say the stoner and especially the DIY are pretty dang hydrophobic.
What I have noticed is that right after a wash with soap, most coatings flood a bit. Even good soaps. Some mechanical agitation really helps remove the left over surfactant films. I can't explain why you need mechanical agitation but I've tested it a bunch of times. You would think the water pressure alone is enough but it's not. Purifica, Descale, Adam's Strip Wash (acid) are the soaps that are leave the least residue for me. Just a towel dry can help sometimes.
Looking at this line up I think Cericoat needs to go back to the drawing board. That's not the desired effects I want from a coating (all out flat sheeting after a few washes). Personally, there is too much backlash and disruption from Cericoat. I'm sure they are a great brand and will correct this coating in time. But by god am I soooo bored of hearing about this brand now. 😵💫 Lots of content creators trying to justify this product and its distracting from my favourite creator's of what they should be doing, and that is to- Inform, educate, and entertain. This whole affair is really starting to grind my gears. Put it to bed and move on 🙄. For the love of god!!! Personally, DIY seems to be a superior coating, Yvan has so much experience on cars and in the Lab that he just know what he's doing. I've bought some bits from him, and I solidly flat out trust the man and Nick too. Well done Jamie for this comparison and overview. I lkke your style of content. 🎉
Interesting how the Cerakote was dryer than both of the others, but it's not working? Beading fan boys are jumping for joy, but then everyone bitches about water spots. Hmmm.

Very good post. As it’s said, money is the root of all evil.
Forgive me, I shouldn’t judge.
I really don’t mind a product that sheets water, especially on black paint!!
You should give DPC prime TMR a try. I will blow all three of these out of the water.
I honestly think bead maker or clean maker is much better than cerakote's paint coating. I applied my free cerakote bottles on a large suv on Christmas, my 2 Week wash is coming up, i'm not looking forward to it 😂
Disappointing for cerakote. Diy seems the best..can you get the nanoskin g5 coating for test? Would appreciate that.
But Jamie, did you shake the Cherra-Kote 30 seconds after each drop that you put on the applicator...? 🤣
I shook the shiz out of it 🤣💪🧼
@@JamieTheCleaner Well sir, that's all I needed to know! 😆 Great video brother

*DISCLAIMER*I am an absolute amateur when it comes to car care
they advised me the formula has changed
That being said I washed the gladiator (I even had to look up what a two bucket method meant) then I did some iron remover, then a clay bar, then I had a detailer friend do a polish because I wasn’t confident.
@@mattbrew11 the cerakote coating has been updated and fixed since this video 👍
Give your Cerakote bottles to JB. He specializes in coatings that don't hold up.
Great idea! 💡 🤣
DIY for me please!
Not a fan of cerakote ,
I coated 2 vehicles with the kit I ordered. Let’s see how they are after the winter.
1 owner contacted me after about 2 months from installation…. Ummmm
That’s exactly what I don’t want to happen it’s a dang shame sorry you had that happen
I have the DIY 5 year and it’s stellar. I’m itching to try the Armour Detail Supply Pro coating though. Gonna check out their wheel coating after I get my rims powder coated in the spring. Great content!
The ADS Wheel coating is looking good for me so far, I put it on a month ago.
DIY 5yr appears to be like Gloss Coat on steroids, which is a great thing. Gloss Coat was my first coating and I loved it.
Very true 💪🧼
Id love your 3 bottles
I mean the cerakote side of the hood did have less water sitting on it than the other sides.. maybe not as much beading but in heneral there was less water on that side without a person interacting with it
So if you pay me $1000 to put this on your car you’re gonna be happy? 😃
Nice video, these are the tests that we like to see. Can't wait for the the full video of 499 washes. :) kidding. Keep up the great content.
Whats the best address for Cerakote to send the cease and desist to? 😂
🤣
Just received my 2 bottles and now I’m not sure what to use them on. I wouldn’t pay for it or sell it. Maybe I’ll coat my mail box and kids swing set or something.
DIY and Stoner look great. That cerakote looks suspect 👀
Hey Jamie great video bro
What happens if you put Clean Maker up against Cerakote? I know where my money is.
Does cerakote Make the pro diamond coating you had on previously? 😅
he cant talk about that hes trying to win grambassador
If he used KC Rs on this and it killed it that would have been really funny. Their coating is the bodyguard, but the Reactivation Shampoo is the assassin 🥷
Great video. Appreciate you sharing your experience. #ripactive
You mention Louisiana’s humidity…what is it like?
Usually always over 50%
Sucks 😂 you never know how the weather is gunna be lol
I’m one of the few who installed this back in November. I thought maybe a bad batch, but then the videos started coming in with similar results. Fails within 3 washes. Something is terribly wrong because spray sealants can outperform this coating.
Non-judgmental review: If the hydrophobics and durability were similar to other 3-5 year coatings, this would be a slam dunk. Application, slickness, and gloss are all there.
Slickness off the charts!
I am curious to see if anyone has tried doing a light polish to see if the coating is gone or just lost its hydrophobic properties.
@@JamieTheCleaner Seriously! Good stuff to throw on the kids’ sleds 👍
Im glad the Cerakote bottles were free 😂
Yep atleast it was free 💪🧼
@@JamieTheCleanerEven thought the coating was free, it still took time to prep and apply the coating. I would be very disappointed if I applied the Cerakote on my vehicles! Frankly it would just be a waste of time that I can't get back!
And most coatings doesn't have such specific instruction on how to apply... And not everyone would have the perfect conditions to apply it.
Seems like there's more bad than good on the Cerakote coating.
Thanks for making this video!
What gun and nozzle is that??

The cerakote does worse than a ceramic or graphene detail spray alone
Take vehicle through a car wash 5 times or more and examine the results.
From what I can see stoner looks the strongest as it beads good and sheets quick. Also see cerkote beads are more oblong after the wash and yeah! 😂
Would like to see Dquartz Go 😁
Beads look nice but sheeting seems better. I dont understand the hate for cerakote
A failing coating is not better 👍 zero protection
Sad to see that Cerakote is NOT beading but slowly switches to sheeting action. Slow sheeting does not mean it is gone from the surface but I hope that they evaluate this issue so many have seen. Gotta have faith they are going to improve this in 2024.
Fantastic video
I personally like sheeting better than beading. Less chance of water spots. At least that's my goofball opinion
Just use a quick detailer after every wash then. You’ll basically have a low performing coating with a quick detailer.
Sheeting coating. It's sheet, that's for sure. 🤣. Looks about as strong as a spray wax.
🤣
Excellent video, cerakote dead as a dodo , after I watched a podcast by 5 of the so called top detailers defending cerakote, thanks Jamie for your truthful experiment!
Hey Kev When did we defend the ceramic coating? I am confused. On my end I didn’t. We all agreed we had different results with Eddie and mines being the worse which is not new news.
@@DetailingMadeSimple I’m not confused, it appeared like this podcast was put out to quell the negative feedback on cerakote ceramic coating!
@@DetailingMadeSimple Thankyou for your detailed reply, I’m a big fan of your channel, I like your honesty and knowledge and enthusiasm, which I have said in your comments section on a few occasions, with all the hype this product has created and so much difference of opinions, I think cerakote should withdraw the product from the market, reevaluate and reintroduce with new and more accurate description of its capabilities, keep up your passion!
Soc, people simply just dont listen. Its the way of the new world, sheeple just follow and repeat the shock value of things and not what youn pan, mike, eddie, josh, and or many of the other folks that put themselves and their work out there for all the assholes in this workd to tear apart. Agree even if it’s only $30 a spray sealant would perform better

Very poor hydrophobics for cerakote 😮
I knew cerakote was going to be booboo
Was it a Full Moon when you applied the coatings?🌕🌝 😉🙄😂
I would say this is rock bottom for cerakote. Can't get much worse. I'd hate to work in their marketing department. They're going to have to explain themselves. All I can picture is the south park episode about the bp oil spill...."we're sorry!" Lol, sorry I hate to say it. It is what it is at this point.
It is what it is perfectly sums it up
Not sure if you're being objective in your assessment, but I want to echo another commenter that between the three the Cerakote side leaves the least amount of water after each spray... while the others just create nice beads. If you believe beads beats repelling of water then I can see how you would conclude that the Cerakote isn't worthy of your consideration. Would welcome an explanation of your conclusion.
Here ya go ruclips.net/video/G4OKkaHll40/видео.htmlsi=FCfZF-D_Hhz5c-9C
Great video. Straight up truth. 💪
I use the same PW. 4.0 orafice. I’m not saying these other two are not hydrophobic, just being OCD. Good point about the large amount of water.
@@chrisbradley3224 nice I’ll add a wet towel wipedown for the next test
@@JamieTheCleaner Won't hurt at least. You're using more water than I can output though so maybe it's just that.
First!!!!!!
Lots of content creators trying to justify this product and its distracting from my favourite creator's of what they should be doing, and that is to-
Inform, educate, and entertain.
Only way they improve is if we test it 👍🧼
Interesting how the Cerakote was dryer than both of the others, but it's not working? Beading fan boys are jumping for joy, but then everyone bitches about water spots. Hmmm.
Right you won’t have water spots…you also won’t have a coated car after a couple washes 👍
Ive had it on my truck for a month, and its holding up well. Im in SE Alabama, so weather may make a difference. I also installed it in a temperature controlled shop, maybe that makes a difference. I also fully prepped the paint, compound, polish, etc. I'll know soon enough!@@JamieTheCleaner
