I remember when I used to live in the story of Queens New York I used to travel over to the city to take a ferry ride to travel to Staten Island rather if it's to visit a dear friend of mine may God bless his soul he's gone for me now sadly he used to live in the Great kills section of Staten Island or just to head to Staten Island to just venture around to hit the green belt trail just for a country Walk I remember taking the older ferry boats at the time especially the Andrew j Barbary and Kennedy forgot the full name the ones with the wooden seats and the first modern bolt they came out with back in 2010 or so. I moved to Scranton Pennsylvania about 6 years ago I would love to travel back to my home City just to write the new Michael H Ollis ferry it looks very modern and futuristic and awesome. Love the video at least I got to see it in Memorex LOL.
I like the Molinari Ferries But I haven't Been on the Olis one Hopefully Before Fall or winter They Should Retire the Newhouse and Barberi Because It's old and one of them was in a Accident Before
Respectfully disagree, they went all the way back to the 1965 Kennedy class boats (last one just retired) for the design inspiration and features for the Ollis class. It might be poetic justice that the previous classes that had some named for local politicians were less than stellar, with some having the reliability characteristics of a floating gypsy cab.
MV Michael Ollis replaced MV John F. Kennedy, MV Sandy Ground will replace MV Andrew J. Barberi, and MV Dorothy Day will replace MV Samuel I. Newhouse (barberi’s sister ship).
The Kennedy was gone about a year before the Ollis arrived. All three Ollis class ferries are now in service, and the Barberi class still has yet to be retired.
@@douglaswells6656 the last ollis class ferry is named Dorothy Day, and also the sandy ground was commissioned just a few days ago, so that means it would go into service anytime now.

To Be Honest I like Riding the Molinari Ferries Because they
Run Better than the Newhouse and Barberi Ferries And those two are old since the 80s
The made 2 Newer So they should Use those on the Weekend as well along with the Molinari Ferries and just the Olds ones a Break
Do they still use the tiny Alice Austen boats?
When did they start using the Newer Ferry
Keeping the Barberi class remain service forever
Barberi itself will be gone by the end of the year. Newhouse could stick around a while longer.
Nope keeping forever barberi class is around interservice 1981 in 1982
And this vessel's only late thirties and forties
It's old they should Retire it
This is better than the Molinari classes.
I've haven't been on it yet I seen the sandy ground on the ch 7 News I'm sure the Lights are Brighter
Yeah but my only thing on the weekends they don't use them
In which they should give the Barberi Ferry a Break
Because they Are Getting Old
One day Before Rush Hour I'm gonna try to Ride On it Because They haven't Used them on the Weekends
On some weekends they use the Molinari Ferries More and the Oils
IDk why this is a dream of mine, to go on a ferry around NYC
The Barberi and Newhouse Are Old Ferries since 1981 And I've Been on them alot of times
I like the Molinari Ferries But I haven't Been on the Olis one Hopefully Before Fall or winter They Should Retire the Newhouse and Barberi Because It's old and one of them was in a Accident Before
@@douglaswells6656 I just got word that the ollis ferry is out of service because of mechanical issues as well as one of the molinari class ferries.
It Has Issues Already
Hopefully they fix it
I've been on the Molinari Ferries that were made in 2004 and those Ferries are better than the old ones

I've Been on the Newhouse and Barrieri Ferries and they are Getting Old They should Just Retire them already They run slow
And the Barberi was in a Accident Before So I don't know why the DOT should still use it even though for the weekday Rush Hour
They Still have The the ollis New Ferry So they should Run them on the weekends as well Just like the Molrani Ferries
Just Saying In My View They should Use the Newer Ones on The Weekend

The Samuel I New House may be retired as of right now. According to data, it shows that it has not sailed for over 100 days.
So when are they gonna Retire the Barberi Ferries because those 2 are old
Barberi will probably be gone by the end of the year. Newhouse may be a year or two
I'm just saying that they should just Retire it because I've been on it too many times
Okay so they have the Ollis and the Sand Ground and what's the other New One they making
I've been on the old ones Before But I prefer like Riding On The Molinari Boats Because It's Still New
@@douglaswells6656 the last ollis class ferry is named Dorothy Day, and also the sandy ground was commissioned just a few days ago, so that means it would go into service anytime now.
No keeping them forever barberi class was entry service 1981 1982
They're never gonna see cars again!
Want to get your car to SI? Use the bridge. No need to carry cars on the ferry.
@@cats0182 car ferries ended 9/11/01!
