My uncle gave me his red eyes black dragon when he told me about how he used to play yu gi oh I built my competitive deck completely around red eyes he was so confused when I tried to explain how the game works now
Links, pendulums, two more spaces to put monsters in only the second turn player draws on first turn GY is a second hand basically every boss monster needs to be able to be cheated out to be good and have anti destruction effects or quick effects as well banishing 10 cards from a deck is good if you want to draw two etc

After going over the blue eyes and magicians archetype, does anyone else believe that the Red eyes got the short end of the stick when it comes to support?
How do you feel about this a year after making this comment? Since, you know, Red Eyes has wayyy more versatile support strictly for it's archetype than the other two.

NoBeastLikeMe well just by drawing red eyes insight you can get any red eyes monster on the field next turn by combining it with spirit. Also red eyes fusion is just BROKEN cuz you can fusion summon straight from the main deck (great for slash dragon cuz I run a combo of red eyes and felgrand)

@@ArnulfoSalgado Not really - Red-Eyes has a lot of different things in the archetype which makes it messy because it can do like 4 different things, just none of them well. It lacks one actual strategy that the entire archetype supports.
Blue Eyes archtype is power, Dark Magician archtype is wisdom and Red Eyes archtype is potential.
Perfectly displays all 3 of the characters who owns them. I like that shit lol

It's a shame Joey never tapped into Red Eyes' true potentional. He and Mai could have overlayed their dragons for Flare Metal Dragon.
In my Yugioh fanfic where Joey and Mai end up a Husband/Wife pro dueling team with a kid, they do. It's their iconic opener.

It's interesting how all the heroes of the original serie got a XYZ counterpart of their signature card (Joey's Red-Eyes, Yugi's Dark Magician, Mai's Harpie Dragon) except for Kaiba who got a Synchro counterparts for their Blue-Eyes, wondering if we would see in the future pendulum counterparts of cards from the GX era
He did get a XYZ counterpart. It's called "Legendary Dragon of White".

No, Red-Eyes goes with the XYZ monsters because of their black borders, and Blue-Eyes goes with the Synchros because of the white borders. Black and White.

the reason "Red-Eyes B. Dragon" was spelled that way was because they didn't want any problems, by seeing "Blue-eyes white dragon" and "Red-Eyes B. dragon" with not only the color of skin, but also because "blue-Eyes" attack power was stronger then "Red-eyes"attack, but now the game has respect for some stuff, that it doesn't do that with newest cards, but they like to keep the original name on it
The last part is incorrect and without a source (the discrimination over attack power) but overall you're correct.
So they didn't want to spell out Black because the didn't want to seem racist..?
If this is true (it isn't) can someone explain why they didn't spell out Dragons in Lord Of D's name? See where your bullshit assumptions fail? There were plenty of names that were abbreviated when the game first came to the west and no it wasn't because of race implications. Little D, Lord Of D, B. Skull Dragon, D. Human, G.B. Hunter, Giltia the D. Knight, M. Warrior (both of them), Meteor B. Dragon, The A. Forces, D. Tribe. Those are just some examples. And they're still doing the shit to this day (though not as much as before).

Fun thing: In german, they write out the "black" of Red Eyes B. Dragon, but the first versions of the german card said "Red Eyes Blue Dragon" (Rotäugiger Blauer Drache), meaning they thought the B. stood for Blue.

I have been lately come back for Yu Gi Oh after a long while of out of it, and thanks mostly for your videos, i have gotten more and more intrest on playing it again. I would like to see Ancient Gear or Defenders Of Ice Barrier Arch types some time to be talked about, as they have come to be my favorite.

Black magic in the 90’s was still controversial, especially in card games. Magic had a similar detractors, changing Black to DarkB. might be making sure no moms could get too mad.
The fact that there's so much support for red-eyes is why I play a red-eyes deck
You forgot to mention that Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon had a completely different effect in the Animé, making it a direct power-up of Darkness Dragon, gaining 400 ATK for every Dragon in your Graveyard and being able to negate Spells by discarding cards, as well as being unaffected by Spells! It was also summoned through equipping a certain Trap onto Darkness Dragon, same as with Red-Eyes Black Metal Dragon!
Also, bit of trivia for you: Meteor Black Dragon was the most powerful prize card in the PlayStation game Forbidden Memories and, with how the game works, is always more powerful than Perfectly Ultimate Great Moth!

Red-Eyes Sword Dragon's effect COULD be base on the Sword Hunter, a monster which Joey used once during his duel against Duke Devlin when they could ONLY use cards from 10 Booster Packs each.
Fun fact about Red Eyes Black Dragon:
Due to the B. in the english name the German version was first called Rotäugiger Blauer Drache which translates to Red Eyes Blue dragon.
I love this archetype, I was excited that they brought out more support, bought and traded for the individual cards. Even though I quit playing years prior

@@matty9460 because of the Japanese name. Since it wasn't a Red-eyes card in the OCG, it would create inconsistencies between OCG and TCG.

So glad they made this. With the right combo no matter how many times you send a red eyes to the graveyard it always comes. It becomes a game of never giving up. Heart of the underdog in red eyes form. Most of the red eyes support and even the more powerful version have an effect to bring back a red eyes from the grave yard.
As a metalhead, i'm disappointed that Black Metal Dragon (1:58) doesn't have corpse paint >_

Why would anyone think of race when they see Black Magician ( girl) and Black dragon, all the human monsters aren't black and the rest are dragons. Plus if they wanted to avoid skin color why have blue eyes white dragon.

Red eyes darkness metal dragon is still by far my favorite yugioh card I've ever owned
There are so many red eyes but admittedly not much comparison to blue eyes but still a good amount. I always did like the mythology between the red eyes and the blue eyes in that one is potential and the other one is power definitely makes sense for two certain characters in the franchise. Now I understand why this one person I'm reading a fanfiction of decided to go for a red eyes deck but anyway great video man.
It would be cool if we had ritual monsters that didn't use levels but instead used certain circumstances to be summoned.
