You are about the best teacher, you give the detail that we really need if you are new, you and Jenny Doan are excellent teachers, there are some ladies that do excellent work but are terrible teachers they work like you know everything and they just go along not really explaining anything.
This pandemic has a silver lining...I get to watch your earlier tutorials! My head is so full of quilts I want to make! Perhaps I should put my phone down & start sewing! 😉
Donna, your years of experience sewing really make your patchwork shine! You're not about finding a shortcut for every pattern. The precision cutting Matt does really add to your accuracy ( not that he cuts all of your projects). I've never seen anyone end up with such flat, accurate patchwork every time. I'd love to see you make a triple Irish chain quilt. Your color selections help to keep things interesting as well. Thanks for your tutorials-Please keep them coming!!!
Donna: You are the only person I've seen on RUclips that really takes pressing to another level!!! I was sewing while watching your videos this weekend and now I cannot help but to take the extra time when pressing my seams. You and your husband are rock stars in my book! Thank you both for sharing your love of fabric.
I bought that exact steam iron. I love it! Thanks for your wonderful tutorials and free patterns! I live in Washington. I hope to visit your quilt shop next time I am in Oregon.
Donna, Thank you for your free patterns that you make available on your website. I absolutely love the Carpenter's Wheel. I appreciate your videos as well. You make sewing these squares and quilts very easy with your videos and explanations. Many thanks to you and Matt for sharing your knowledge of colors and quilting.
Donna, I've watched hundreds of quilting tutorials, but no one explains how to press the seams as explicitly as you do. I have just made my first block of the carpenter's wheel and it has turned out pretty well. Thanks for your easy to follow instructions!
Excellent instructions. I’ve saved some of my sons shirts that they wore in school to make a quilt. We are Clemson fans so the colors are orange and navy. Can’t wait to get started.
Donna, you are such an excellent instructor. So quick and efficient, but so incredibly thorough. I especially like how well you explain how to press the blocks into submission. Thank you for taking the time to make and edit these videos, and post them for all to see. ~Diana from Toronto
I've got this pattern on my to do list and will follow your instruction video while I'm doing it. You're my absolute favourite quilting video instructor. I often play your videos in the background whatever I'm sewing just to hear you talk. Soothing and calming voice, and most of all happy! Keep up the great work!
This is late from when you posted, but I made the Carpenter's Wheel Wall Hanging last weekend using your directions. It came out perfectly. My first attempt at quilting. Thank you
Hi Donna you said we could leave our requests.... Well I would love you to do another 'Trip around the World' quilt so that one day when it comes up in the 'Give away' I will get another chance to win it. Brilliant half square diamonds pattern thanks. Lots of love from London. 👍😉
I wanted to make a Christmas quilt blanket. I thought sewing large patches would be easier. Matching those corners are harder than I thought but I got it done. I’m not satisfied enough so I’m working on adding a border. Fingers crossed. Thank you for your easy instruction. I could not have done it without your thorough instruction although I had to watch this several times to understand the pattern and order.
Wow so beautiful disign,,i like it ,im always watching your vidios,,i want to learn siwing,,bcoz of your vidio, and i love sewing,i want vidio more,,and thank you for your vidios uploading i learn more,,its so very beautiful disign all
I was reading a lot of the comments. I love your videos also. They are so easy to follow. Thank you for sharing all of your knowledge of sewing. Please do the video on how to mark your ruler for cutting the eighths!
i love to watch you make such beautiful things you make it all look so simple and your instructions are easy to go by i watch all your video's over and over thanks Donna
Awesome.... Ive been wanting to do this block... but was a little intimidated. I love how you walk through every step , making it FUN and do-able... Thank You so much for sharing your talent.... and your Awesome tips.... I love you guys!!!!
Using the weight on your ruler is brilliant! I am new to your tutorials. Someone on a FB quilting group mentioned you, and I am now a fan! Great style!
I love your videos, Donna! One of the things I learned from some smart quilter along the way, was to use 2 rulers for cutting. That eliminates my need to remember where my mark was.
you are a amazing teacher Very easy to follow your decorations Keep the tutorials coming i love it. If I can ever make it to Oregon you are on the top of my list to visit
Although I might have said it previously, I do enjoy your videos and the way you teach. You cover absolutely everything and even give extra points that can help us. I've been quilting since 1997, yet I do believe that even a newbie can make your quilts easily, once they learn how to sew a perfect Qtr inch seam allowance and the importance of proper pressing methods. Thank you so very much for sharing.
Love watching you cut and sew such precise seams. You explain everything so nicely. I have been quilting for about 20 years and still learn from your videos. My family is from Gold Hill. Can’t wait to visit my folks and pop over to your shop!
I love your videos. What a sweetheart you are. You and Matt have taught this ‘old dog’ some new tricks. Not seen pressing the way you do it. I’m impressed.
You're incredible! Your quilts are so beautiful. I always wanted to get into quilting but never felt I had the time. Now I think I'm too old to learn new tricks, but watching your tutorials makes me want to try. I wish I lived near your store
Thank you for all your great ideas! I love watching you design and build the blocks. You make it very easy for other people to follow. Beautiful quilts!
Thank you for the tutorial and the free pattern download. Love your attention to detail and clear explanation of pressing technique. Both versions are beautiful. I think I'll make the Christmas version first. Thanks again and keep those tutorials coming.
Donna, your instructional videos are amazing! I’ve always pressed really well, but didn’t know not to use steam before getting the block exactly where you want it first, because once you do that, it’s almost impossible to correct it. I ruined many blocks by doing steam first...thank you very much. Another tip you gave me was to use a straight edge to make sure your jelly roll strips are ironed straight before cutting or sewing together....
Thank you so much for all your beautiful tutorials! I especially like wall hangings as I’m a novice quilting and the smaller projects are not so intimidating. Can’t wait to make the carpenter’s wheel! 💕
Okay, I followed your directions and made this one today. It turned out beautiful. I will try and figure out how to take a pic and post it. Love your tutorials. I just wanted to master those half square triangles. For me the toughest part is matching up the seams.
Donna! Thank you so much for the tip on cutting with the rulers staying on the fabric. My biggest problem is accurate cutting which causes inaccurate seams.
Awesome hst.quilt.looks like fun.another idea added to my list.love it when you show more quilts using same patterns but different colors.keep it coming.ty 👌💖
Really enjoyed watching your tutorial. Have always wanted to make this for my son, who is a carpenter. Made one block (lots of work) finally got it together. You have simplified it by making it into 4 blocks rather than 1. Or possibly I just remember how much I love the challenge. l0l
I absolutely love your tutorials, especially the one on the Carpenter's Wheel. I looked on your site for the pattern, however I could not find it. Have you posted it, yet? I have some batiks that I am hoping to use for this pattern, even though I love the Christmas one you did.
Jordan Fabrics Donna, I held my breath watching you cut the fabric for the carpenters wheel, I have sliced a outer pad on my left index finger, no fun. I know you are very experienced with Cutting fabric, just want you to know please be "extra careful". Jordan fabrics has " just about" Convinced me to try to make a quilt. Keep up the great work and super tutorials.
Thanks so much! I love watching your videos, they're always interesting, informative and easy to understand without any distracting music and you have a lovely speaking voice.
Your teaching videos here are just wonderful. I learn so much watching you. But I was wondering if in the future if you have a miss-matched seam, as in this video, could you use that as a teaching moment and show us how you take apart the seam and fix that? Thanks so much.
May I ask, how long have you been sewing quilts?? I love your videos, I watch them daily like binging on the older ones, until I am tired of watching. Can't stop learning as I have never done any quilting, I am retired now. I love to sew but havent since my oldest was in my tummy, 38 years. I love yours, Ive tried others, but no one teaches like you, one step at a time. Patient, kind and caring. Thanks for listening, Marilyn OKlahoma
I would like to make this into a queen size quilt, any suggestions on increasing the directions to enlarge the pattern would be greatly appreciated! Thank you so much for all your wonderful tutorials!
@@jordanfabrics8380 so I want to make a queen and a king size quilt too. But since I'm a beginner, I want to know the dimensions for the cuts. I also want yo make a 20"x20" floor cushion cover. Please help in providing cut dimensions of this very pattern with 1 Carpenters wheel
Do you ever sleep? I love this pattern and have avoided it due to all the Y seams. Your pressing tips are as important and informative as your sewing tips! Thanks for another great video.
I have just started watching quilt tutorials. I really enjoy your teaching methods. You explain things so thoroughly and take the time to point out important tips. I see a lot of the quilts that seem to be patterns that I have seen for years. How do I get permission to make some of these to sell? Thank you for your time.
I am so glad you have addressed the pressing part of the quilt sections. What a shame to put that much work into a quilt square and it turns out all wonky. My biggest problem. You make me feel I can sew anything, even for a senior citizen.
I just love all your videos, you two! Thank you for doing them and offering great products at great prices. I also would like to know what make and model of sewing machine you use in the videos to do all the piecing. I do a ton of straight stitching for charity projects and would like to get a really good, industrial-strength machine like yours. Thanks for your help. -Dotti
I love this pattern, the batiks are beautiful, but I have to say that I absolutely love the Christmas fabrics! I have to say that I have yet to have watched a tutorial of yours that I did not like. I am going to visit your site now to get the pattern and maybe even some fabric! Thank you, Linda D.
Thanks so much, you are the best teacher. I lear a lot with you. You are the best
You are about the best teacher, you give the detail that we really need if you are new, you and Jenny Doan are excellent teachers, there are some ladies that do excellent work but are terrible teachers they work like you know everything and they just go along not really explaining anything.
I agree. They are my top two favorite teachers as well!
"It's not as bad as it looks," says Donna, when sewing the rows together and matching the seams. That struck me as funny. She Is so encouraging.
My favorite "star " pattern. I really appreciate your importance of ironing. It makes sewing so much nicer! Love your tutorials!
This pandemic has a silver lining...I get to watch your earlier tutorials! My head is so full of quilts I want to make! Perhaps I should put my phone down & start sewing! 😉

I agree with Donna, I really stress this to my students.
Cherylquilts my iron does not work for steam, so I make the sound of the chsssss myself
Cherylquilts , so did I! I asked for it for Christmas last year...it’s the best iron I’ve ever owned!
Donna you make it look so easy and explain the pressing needs so well...I just love your techniques....

A very special pattern. Thank you so much
Love the fabric would be beautiful in a log cabin quilt.
I like quilts that are made and used, rather than just hanging on a wall. I always have to modify my quilts for queen bed sizes.

I don't skimp on sleep, but I do wake up excited to make a new quilt. I am so fortunate to have the best job in the world!
There aren't Y seams if done correctly
I love this pattern. Thank you for making this video😍

Love the pattern for the carpenters wheel. Can you do a video on how you do the back of a wall hanging so it can be hung. Please. Thank you
