It's always hilarious to me when people argue with the experts over the value or authenticity of the item(s) they're trying to sell. Are the experts infallible? Absolutely not. Are they vastly more qualified to identify and appraise these thing than either the shop employees or the owners? Absolutely.
On the other hand, would I trust the expert called in by the party which would buy the item? 100% not. Granted most of the show is probably scripted and staged but if I'd want to sell something I'd hardly care what the expert of the buyer or seller would say. Maybe they get a cut, maybe they are legit but that's kinda hard to tell.

Then they scam you in Native Indian jewlery. A Cherokee seller offered me $350 for my necklace and said shed sell it for $500 and I wasn't interested in selling. Years later I needed a loan and ALL pawn shops only offered silver value... $20.00 appropriately and said if I don't pawn it out they will only melt the silver even though was made by a very famous Najvaho man.

the biggest thing holding these pieces back in price is verification there is people selling old swords but once you can verify these pieces they are much easier to sell in the community that wants them.
