Took a chance and preordered it. I loved Kena, and this looked like a cross between Kena and Fenyx Rising, so I went all-in. I usually don't, but the game looks even better than I expected! 60 enemy types, in depth skills, 6 weapons that vary attacks, elemental attacks, beautiful looking?? This is way batter than I thought, even from the initial trailer. I agree with you on those minotaur. Amazing! I am looking forward to it quite a lot now!

@@TexLive34 I wanted to, but it is Windows-only, and don't have a gaming PC right now. If there was a PS demo, I didn't see it.
@@ericsaari2901 I tried the demo. I really liked the art style and the protagonist design. I just wish they had worked a little bit on animations and feel of the combat. When you dodge or swing a sword in something like Elden Ring or Dark souls despite Souls being older games there is a feel to it. It doesn't feel weightless. They went the dark souls route for combat pretty much but failed to capture the essence of souls like combat.
@@nayyarrashid4661 i don't really want another souls combat. I'm tired of it. And it's not that great. Just a roll simulator. Give more. I think this game has more of it.
@@nayyarrashid4661 That's common for an indie studio, I think. It can't be everything those developers place into a game. I think this one looks amazing, but I don't expect quite that level across the board. Certainly valid criticism though.
Saw this game on Iron Pineapple's Steam souls likes dumpster diving series and i was pleasently impressed with the combat. Im definetly checking this out

Thanks for great review. Hadn't heard of this game before I came across your video but I am sucker for a good "souls-like", I am a big fan of the Immortals Fenyx Rising visuals. Like you I do love me a god red-haired protagonist(Aloy from the Horizon gamers) and I read that the game has some serious ramifications to how the story unfolds based off your actions. Plus it is only $10 dollars on Steam thanks to regional pricing. Grabbed it and installing now.

Love the game so far, I use Daggers and spear combo. As a Souls player I was forced to get good at parries.
That's my favorite combo as well.

combat style reminds me a little of Kingdoms of Amalur
damn the combat in that game was so great, such a cool fantasy setting also, wish there were more games like it, damn it was dope throwing those chakram things all over the place

Jumping on the bandwagon here but after 10 seconds I swore I was watching Immortals Fenyx Rising. I am not alone with that thought I see. Still looks super cool.
I think it's worth noting that this game was probably in development before Immortals came out. But yeah I totally get the comparison, that's why it got me interested in the first place too!

It’s a good game. So sad it’s been lost amongst the overwatch 2 hype. But so far I’ve enjoyed every moment I’ve played

And I'm so glad it hasn't got that annoying reticle dot on the enemies that souls like ones have. I hate that

Game is everything I wanted. After the weekend of playing I have to say it didn't let me down at all, I hope there's dlc afterwards and a sequel, combat is so fluid the way you can use your main and secondary together, being able to block while countering with the bracers or daggers is sooo good. The lore doesn't feel Nordic, or greek myth methodical at all, feels otherworldly if I were to say anything. I'll be grabbing the physical copy as well just to support these devs, I hope they keep going this is my goty thus far.
Is the physical copy releasing along the digital or will it come later? want to get it on ps5 but was thinking about getting it for my laptop first.

I found this after typing in ARPG in PS5 search menu. This looks amazing. I was actually looking for a more traditional isometric style ARPG the wasn't D4 (I already own it on PC)... Can't want to play it after it downloads.

After playing the demo I was sold the combat and movements were super fluid and clean, combine that with the length of 30 plus hours and tons of skills and it's an easy buy at 30 pounds

Looks like a Dark Souls Fenyx Rising with no jump button which doesn't make sense because the combat is superhuman and the little floating orb is gonna drive me crazy because it's a distraction, but the game is only 35 bucks so I'ma download it tonight and check it out.

Not sure if you'll answer but I went to wishlist this on steam so i'd remember when it gets released, I noticed one of the tags was "souls like" as what seems to be the only person around who did not care for elden ring, or the other souls games, I thought I'd ask how you felt this compares.
I know this comment was 1 year ago, but have you played the game yet and was your question answered? I'm asking myself the same cause usually soulslike games are just too hard for me. Kena was great but I wouldn't consider that a soulslike.

It's an amazing indie game with more passion put in than most AAA games trust me
What sort of map/waypoint/fast travel system does Asterigos use?
No map to speak of. There are waypoints that act essentially like bonfires. You can use a consumable item to instantly return to the hub area, and a different consumable to return to your most recently visited waypoint. It's not the most convenient system, but as you progress through areas, you open up shortcuts that make backtracking much simpler.
Edit: eventually you can teleport directly between waypoints. Sorry, wasn't aware of this when I initially replied!
There is a map in the hub are, but it really is just a layout of every region of the world and how they connect. Almost like concept art, but you get a sense of how big the world is. You look at it every time Minerva gives you a new quest and you have to interact with the war table with mission briefings. I actually like the concept.

Yeah, it's not as balls-hard as Dark Souls. Yeah, it's not as dark as Dark Souls. Yeah, it doesn't have its lore in the item descriptions. _So what?_ Didn't everyone complain Soulslikes ape Dark Souls too much and never do their own thing - but then this game does its own thing, and suddenly "It'S nOt ExAcTlY lIkE dArK sOuLs, BoOoOo"? Urgh.

It is a RPG with no map. That’s right! It has no map. When you get frustrated with not being able to find where to go next, you will quit and realize you just blew $35 for a game you cannot finish. Whoever thought not having a map was good idea should be fired. Maps are essential for any RPG.
