@Hyatt Life They actually gave an 8 to both Thymesia and Steelrising (which came out not so long ago). To be honest Asterigos doesn't seem as close to a "Souls like" and more akin to a more standard action rpg (like a: smaller, linear Kingdoms of Amalur).

I am always amazed how some people can read something and then say something completely different and think ''yes that is what that says'' Astregios/Asterigos?

Im so shocked that he mispronounced the title within the first minute, and it hurt my heart every other time I heard it throughout the video xD It is still, however, an excellently detailed review as always, thanks!!
I've just started the game on hard and my only complaint so far is that special techniques of weapons used during combos sometimes can come up as a regular attack of that weapon, at least in the PS4 version. It is mainly problematic with weapons that have defensive special techniques: sword and shield, daggers and spear, since instead of guarding, dashing away or parrying you often end up attacking and receiving damage that you clearly should have avoided.
Pretty good review and score, despite the fact i disagree with some of your views, I enjoy the combat and the animations, the lore and story is great and i think visually it looks amazing, I am sure there are lots of other things but those are just some off the top of my head, but overall pretty solid review.

Correct. Which is what turns me of. Not the difficulty, but the penalty and punishment for failure. Lose all your items, gear and exp, but have all the tough enemies respawn and walk back 10 minutes to where you died.

Ragnarok was a letdown. Great story, graphics etc but my god the combat was so repetitive and the boss fights were the least bit interesting except for a few.
I think calling it a Souls-like isn't doing the game justice. It draws as much from Amalur than Souls than other games and just does its own thing with different well-known mecanics and concepts.
Almost EVERYONE agrees that the gameplay is souls-like because that's how it plays. More people played souls games than they played Amalur, so no wonder no one really mentions it in comparison.
I'm a bit disappointed we dont have a bow to play. You do lose stardust which acts as a currency on death but not everything but you cant recollect it as in DS or Eldenring.
Yep! Solid gameplay. I liken it more related to Fable than Souls. It would have been great if there were actually customization options and gear to collect. Something to keep you going. We need a sneak/ assassination system. Animations are floaty and off. Enemy animations from further out are like 15fps. Walking slowly is jogging in slow motion: looks particularly weird, when locked onto an enemy and strafing with your shield drawn. The overall story concept is great but the writing and in-game dialogue are atrocious. A lot of the character and NPC responses are unnecessary and better left unsaid. Like, one moment an NPC can be having a relaxed conversation with Hilda, then suggest she could do with more discipline, or something like that, and out of nowhere Hilda freaks out and then the NPC can respond back with an order, like “Report back to Ludwig, that’s an order!” and just like that, Hilda, who had just forgotten that a split second ago had been lashing out, goes into a 180 and breaks into an enthusiastic “Yes sir!” Like, “what just happened? She unexpectedly freaked out about some feedback and is now completely happy about it? I think there are mental diagnosis for those types of complete 180s…and it’s very life impacting.”
ASTERIGOS: A MORE HONEST REVIEW I will start by pointing out the games flaws first. 1. CHARACTER MOVEMENT TOO SLOW: I feel like I'm moving in slow motion. The character should move at least twice the current speed. There is a run botton, but that uses stamina fast. 2. DIFFICULTY NOT BALANCED: When trying out 'story mode', I found that fights were still DAMN TOUGH! And bosses take minutes to put down. Simply not acceptable for such a mode. 3. MAP TOTALLY SUCKS: There is no traditional map where you can zoom in, see your current location and move around to see where you need to go. 4. BROKEN QUEST SYSTEM: Ridiculous in this day and age of video games, to NOT have a 'select quest' option. There is no way to 'select' a desired quest. They all just appear at the top left of your screen in a bunch. There is also no quest marker to follow. So I found myself wondering around like a blind man going in circles for hours. Not know which way to go at any given point. 5. YOU FEEL LIKE A CHILD IN KINDERGARTEN: The quest giver lays out demands and if you stray from her orders, she scolds you like a child. Instead of just being able to complete the main objective anyway you like, as long as it gets done. Instead you must listen to tons of dialogue where she's bitching about everything you did wrong and threatening to not wanna work with you if your mistakes continue. Obviously, the game designers have unresolved childhood issues! Other than the five things mentioned above, the game is indeed fun, visuals are decent and FPS is SPOT ON! I will definitely play the entire game and am not trying to talk anyone out of buying it. This review just covers the negatives, as I personally see them. And is my own personal opinions. I can't agree with this review. If you start off by not getting the name of the game right, I'm not surprised. Feels like someone read a short synopsis and then just conjured something up from thin air. I came to As-te-ri-gos from Elden Ring directly and immediately felt the souls-lite-like vibe and other similarities it has. I've had exactly one technical difficulty with clipping through the vineyard in the sunken marsh and that's it. I think the combat system is brilliant with the main and secondary weapon complimenting each other and I also enjoyed the lore that was spread out the world to bolster the story. I would've rated this 8.5/10. A better version of Immortals - Fenyx rising (which is not a bad game either)
What a bad review. I don't even know if you liked the game, let alone if you recommend it. And you pronounced the name of the game completely wrong every time, if I were searching for the game based on your pronunciation, I'd never find it.
This is a good review, but I'm so tired of every action RPG being compared to Souls. There are a lot of gameplay aspects that Souls did not invent but the games get credit for them as if they did. I'm just kind of sick of any game having remotely similar gameplay being called "Soulslike" as if this is its own genre.
I felt the non response of the controls was felt like a mix of knockdown/stun effect/turn taking that feels a bit odd at first and I’m starting to get used to the timing after about an hour or two of play
hi, are you… The question is what are you rating the game against to give it a seven?… To be fair I don't have a lot of games but I loved shadow of the tomb raider and how would this game rate against that game? I think shadow of the tomb raider would get better than 10 out of 10… Or this game would get 2 out of 10… Such a difference in technology they really can't be compared. This game I would never give it a 7… It doesn't really show you where to go or what your goals are very accurately at all… I spend most of my time not knowing where to go which sucked… I'm not in the mood for reading all the dialogue for the characters so old-fashioned. The game was pretty good-looking and the character was gorgeous but it seemed lacking in absolutely every technical aspect making it a bore and a chore to play it… Thank you so much for being here that was just my opinion
this game looks like a good game for me.. not sadistic in its punishment, and not too vague or difficult, i won't mind action adventures. turd-like trash, aren't worth playing at all, and i disown their existence altogether. whoever stars their games instantly on nightmare or hard, are ignorant morons. learn first, then dare later. i play games for entertainment and fun, not for punishment and humiliation!

"souls like" so many times as a description... its like hes never played a darksouls game. Its closer to a hack an slash "god of war light" with "fenyx rising" cartoon graphics. Gada hit that disslike an "do not recommend this channel"
Truthfully this reviewer only knows half of what hes talking about.. its like he watched a diffrent review on youtube that was fundamentally wrong and reworded it for this video. I have played all the "souls like" games.. this doesnt fallin that catagory. This is a good game.. but not a even a "souls lite" game.
For anyone interested.. the game looks great, but once you get your hands on the control and feel how bad the character responds, you'll probably feel turned off immediately. It's surprising that a PS4 2022 game can feel like a PS3 (or even PS2) product, specially considering that games like Bloodborne exist!! It's beyond surprising how disappointed I am.. even the lack of jumping At least get it on STEAM where you can get a REFUND.
I'm honestly so burnt out on 'souls like' games. Just because it's hard, doesn't mean it's good. It turns a lot of gamers off making things harder than they should be.

I think the combat system is brilliant with the main and secondary weapon complimenting each other and I also enjoyed the lore that was spread out the world to bolster the story. I would've rated this 8.5/10. A better version of Immortals - Fenyx rising (which is not a bad game either)
Why does this guy always overly criticize games that aren't popular? The game seems amazing.
What a bad review. I don't even know if you liked the game, let alone if you recommend it. And you pronounced the name of the game completely wrong every time, if I were searching for the game based on your pronunciation, I'd never find it.
I don't know I felt Smithing Master Hewg was pretty supportive.
Um... "Astregios?" Really?
I felt the non response of the controls was felt like a mix of knockdown/stun effect/turn taking that feels a bit odd at first and I’m starting to get used to the timing after about an hour or two of play
She would perfect as a guest character for SoulCalibur
Can we just stop calling every fucking game a souls like
If you can't even read the name of a game that has one word in it, please don't review it!
I was wondering why no one reviewed this game
OK. Looking for insight from someone who has played/is playing this. Is it "souls-like" or is it just an action RPG?
I'm sick of souls likes rn
hi, are you… The question is what are you rating the game against to give it a seven?… To be fair I don't have a lot of games but I loved shadow of the tomb raider and how would this game rate against that game?
Cool 😎
For baraad, no matter what you choose, he will still fight you
Def would've checked this out had I not just purchased that Fenix Rising game. Seems pretty solid
why not play both? i 2 have Fenix Rising and this game
@@mattalan6618 they seem too similar to play back to back. I'm pretty sure I'll end up playing this eventually tho
I’ll check it out, but I hope Tears of the Kingdom blows everyone away and becomes the new trend to chase
The game is very good on series x with my LGC1 65 inch and VRR on !
I wanted to like this game. I really did, But the game you are actually looking for here is "Kena: Bridge of Spirits". Was released before this, and is about 3x better made. Just trust me.
Looks similar to immortals fenyx rising
That the breath of the wild rip off? This game looks nothing like that
@@justenbenally522it was very good copy paste of Zelda.
Though Immortals Fenyx Rising is a much better overall game (9 out 10 to me) this rating is good. I will purchase it as long as its a 7.
From Software? This has a LOT more to do with Immortals Fenyx Rising.
I bought the game yesterday for Xbox, got it on sale
It's just an action-adventure game, not a "soulslike". Fromsoft didn't invent this genre.
Budget and underdeveloped version of Immortals Fenyx Rising
Awesome video I like the game it look amazing
Sir you don't even pronounce the title right, it's Aste-rigos not astreggios!
Great little game this is 👍 worth a buy.
Is it a RUclips original?
SteelRising, Thymesia, Asterigos. Its like they tried to make their style of Souls game coming off as decent
It's been a while since I haven't seen badass attractive female character God damn about time I would rather her and horizon zero down then the Eloy whatever she called
Really hard to take a review serious when you can't even get the basic name of the game right
It's not even a souls like game. I give it a 8.5 out of 10 because it kept me playing to the end and it was pretty enjoyable.
Basically the female version of Immortal: Fenix Rising
Estrogenos? Astroganos? Ostregios? Stroganoffs?
I can't believe he missed the part where when you die you actually do lose some resources the currency......
And all of these reviews keep talking about the choices you can make, unfortunately the game seems to only give the illusion of choice.
@@dogdram exactly
@@dogdram yeah i didnt get any choices at all. its a good story if a bit linear
love this game
why does EVERYONE miss spell and mispronounce this title? its ASTERIOGOS not "astregius" lmao
"souls like" so many times as a description... its like hes never played a darksouls game.
Its closer to a hack an slash "god of war light" with "fenyx rising" cartoon graphics.
Gada hit that disslike an "do not recommend this channel"
You mispronounced the title throughout the video hahaha
Waiting for Gamepass version.
I was hype about it until i herd souls like😂😂,im dealing with thymisia 🤦🤦almost done with it but man!!!
Same
For anyone interested.. the game looks great, but once you get your hands on the control and feel how bad the character responds, you'll probably feel turned off immediately. It's surprising that a PS4 2022 game can feel like a PS3 (or even PS2) product, specially considering that games like Bloodborne exist!! It's beyond surprising how disappointed I am.. even the lack of jumping
At least get it on STEAM where you can get a REFUND.
2:30 total disrespect to Stockpile Thomas
It looks like a Kindergarten-version of Souls.
"Astregios"
I'm honestly so burnt out on 'souls like' games. Just because it's hard, doesn't mean it's good. It turns a lot of gamers off making things harder than they should be.
Souls likes are not even hard.
Well it is for someone who didn't grow up with a controller in their hands. Lots of us didn't play games as kids. @@AnarickTheDevil
@@donenglish7572 I may have grown up with video games but they were turn based jrpg's. Not really the type of games that develop the skills required for action based games like souls.
this game 8 + , i believe it was one of the best games in a while
7? Either you don't really understand the game or you didn't play the game. What did they say? "Decide the fate of Aphes. Every decision you make in Asterigos matters and will affect the story. ". The game is so dishonest, so liar, and contains these lies that are thrown to deceive those who like choice-oriented games like me, huh? There is no serious choice , nor does the end of the game change. There is no map, It's impossible to understand the side quests. You spend hours trying to figure out where to go. 7? Even 5 is too much for this game
Sounds like you just dont have the brain to play and are rage typing while being salty :)
@@craigtrish2011 Are you the one who trashed your brain just to praise this dishonest game with the lies and frauds being told and you call me brainless? I don't have a problem playing the game. It seems you don't have a brain or a reading. Go back and read what I wrote again. "Decide the fate of Aphes. Every decision you make in Asterigos matters and will affect the story. " Is this statement true or false?
A-stair-e-goes
I think I may be the only person on the interwebs that really didnt like this game. 6/10 for me. It really didnt click with me at any level. Everyone else is raging about how good it is. I just dont see it.
I don't agree with your review. The thing I don't like about your review is you keep comparing this game to Dark Souls. Dark Souls is a hardcore game, this game isn't. The combat and game play in this game is more like KOA Reckoning or Fable. I really like this game, it's a fun game.
Well at least a cut doll
Reminder that GamingBolt is run by amateurs who DO NOT do any due diligence & frequently post content with bad information. In addition, their reviews are almost always biased & riddled with inaccuracies. Take everything you see here with a grain of salt.
I feel like calling this game a souls like, its a stretch. It looks more like an action adventure/hack and slash type of game.
The UI is literally 1:1 from the Soulsgames. You don’t want the comparison, then design your own UI.
Astregios lmao
The combat looks slow and not very reactive. Granted it's a 45 dollar game, but maybe I'll give it a try on sale.
Does this game run ok , performance wise on Xbox one?
Another souls-like... zzzzzzz
Man, you are butchering the pronunciation of Asterigos.
great review!
