There's a "small" mistake in the video mentioning Wilder contributing on the DM album "A Broken Frame". That is not correct as he did not start writing songs and produce with DM until the 3rd album "Construction Time Again". I'm sorry for the mistake.
I believe he did, but wasn’t credited. In the DM documentary for A Broken Frame he is mentioned as working on the album.
I just watched a documentary and apparently he was not part of the album in any way:

While Alan was not involved with the recorning of A Broken Frame, he was a touring member for that album. He cowrote The Great Outdoors with Martin during the tour, and it was used as their intro music on the later part of the tour. It was the B side to Get The Balance Right which was their stand alone single before recording Construction Time Again.
As I know, he participated the studio works of the album already.
No, as I wrote above with a link he debunked that.
Alan Wilder Was The Sound Creator Of Depeche Mode.
Without Alan Wilder DM Never Would Have Sounded As Great As They Did.
A Music Genius.
A musical genius
Met him twice. Such a lovely human and great musician. So sad he left DM, but it was understandable he did.
They've never been the same since he left 😞
Well they've done alright without him..
Not really
@@paulb3517nah their music is lazy and stinks now
Been. Once
No Wilder , no DM today !@@paulb3517
Alan Wilder is legendary in our opinion
Alan the Architect of Songs 🪄👑
Boy do I miss Alan...❤❤❤
i'm glad fans recognize his contributions to the art form
Roses are red,
violets are blue.
I love Alan Wilder
And Emulator II
A video that does some justice to a talented and innovative man in the world of the music, simply a master!
Thanks for your kind words and support :) Happy New Year!
Alan Wilder was the reason Depeche Mode became worldwide stars. And Alan Wilder's contribution is the reason why Dave Gahan and Martin Gore still fill stadiums 30-40 years later. Once he left, Depeche Mode was not the same. Mediocre or boring songs that don't come close to late 80s and early 90s Depeche Mode (Precious is an exception).
Depeche Mode’s best work was during the Alan Wilder days. In 1984 (I think), DM was touring Construction Time Again and Alan waved hello to our group as we peaked behind the curtain before it dropped at the Hollywood Paladium.
The Best there was!
Would be awesome to see Alan produce a Depeche Mode album one day. He is the sound of Depeche Mode.
Mr Wilder thanks for your contribution to moder art.
Awesome channel!! Thanks a lot for your work!
Thanks for your kind words and support :)
A fascinating and very interesting, informative video, very different to the other videos out there, more documentary style. Thank you, I enjoyed this video.
Thanks for your kind words and support. Happy New Year :)
Happy New Year to you too.
He should’ve been present at the Rock and Roll hall of fame ceremony
Ty so much for this video on the Boss!
Thanks for your kind words and support :) Happy new Year!
Quite like your background music.
Thank you. I make it myself. You can find it here. Happy New Year.

@@80sNewWaveMusic Thank you and Happy New Year too, take care yourself.
Love Alan Wilder. He's friends with Gary Numan. I do wish they would work together. Even an E.P. would be great. Have you ever considered doing one on former Cult bassist Jamie Stewart? Why he left the band and what he's been doing through the years?
imagine wilder joining after RIP Fletcher passed away..........that 3-headed-monster again would KICK A$$ as it did in the mid80s-mid90s!!!
I hope one day before I die he is welcomed back to Depeche Mode
We all hoped for that many times but to be honest he is happy where he's at and to me thats fine :)
Yeah, Charlie is retired and there is zero chance of him reuniting with DM.
Imagine if he had chosen to work WITH the strains within the band instead, and continued "the work". Choosing a "higher love" if you will. The creative intersection between him, martin's song writing and dave's vocals was.. almost divine.
It was alchemy. The schism speaks to the endemic dysfunction, not his lack of altruism.
❤🥰👍❤❤❤👍🥰❤
Thanks for all the hearts and support :) Happy New Year!
Wilder is a f_cking GOD! And DM was done when he left. Their sound was him! End of f_cking story!
D.MODE is Alan Wilder !
Classic DM Lineup
Dave - Voice
Martin- Soul
Alan - Architect
Fletch- Glue
Love your comment❤
That’s incorrect. Fletch was the wet nipple for Martin, not the glue that held the band together. If anything, Fletch was one of the main reasons Alan left the band.
Few people know Alan Wilder did most of the production work with MFTM , David was more of an engineer . HIS INVOLVEMENT GOT BIGGER WITH TIME
Love that AI synth in background, reminds e of Alan's demos from Some Great Reward era and some early Recoil tracks (Sermon maybe?) at the same time
Thanks :) But that's not an AI synth. I make all the music myself.
Wish he'd return to the Mode
There aren't enough superlatives. Their meteoric rise from CTA to SOFAD was no coinicidence. I miss Alan.
Think there was a More embrassing and thinked trough sound when it was DM with Alan.
A before DM
And an after DM
And its a huge difference in sound and produktion style.
The Era shaped a LOT of the synth music when Wilder was in DM and he did a LOT!! In DM.
I often go back to when i was a kid and heard 101 and was only 11-12 years and it has slmething living and lively and a prescence that i cant really put my finger on 🙏
Sorry for the shitty english
Wróci na ostatni album grupy rozmowy już byly
I seriously doubt he will return to Depeche Mode for their next or last album and I have not heard any rumors about that. Please write in English if possible :)
Mange Tak!
Du er velkommen. Tak for din support :)
I wonder whether the band’s management and maybe Martin could have found a way to keep him on board. Maybe they tried, but my gut feeling says otherwise.
As far I am informed he had made up his mind and was ready to go his own way which in my opinion was not a bad thing. I doubt anyone could have persuaded him to stay.
The SOFAD recording process was draining and the tour even more so. Yes, I’ve heard the same but being paid the same as Fletch probably didn’t help. But anyway it’s ancient history now. I must find a way to move on 🤣
No, they did not try. Actually, Fletch left first in 1994, but later returned.
We know the vision of everything from Alan's perspective. He left the band without discussing the problems and without talking them over with the others. He wanted to change the band, and he is not Martin or Dave, who, as has been shown, were the pillars.
it is so easy, just google it, Alan said: "I announced my departure by calling a meeting at the Mode office. I hadn't been able to speak with Dave (who was living in LA) despite having left several phone messages. I informed the other two of my decision and then faxed Dave (which seemed my only option) to which I got mixed reactions. None from Dave, a handshake and a shrug from Martin and aggressive indignation from Fletch"
Without Alan they are DEMO MODE
Alan Wilder made the sound of Depeche Mode as the world knows them (i.e. after Vince Clark and A Broken Frame). They havent been the same since he quit.
Following Vince Clarke was an impossible task.
I think Wilder did a pretty good job and I doubt DM would have survived this long with Vince Clarke as the songwriter.
Dave who... nice piece but please pronounce the name correctly.. Ga-ha-n....
Actually it's you who pronouce it wrong as many others do (I did too for a long time). His name is pronounced as "Gone". Not Ga-ha-n.
Here's a video showing how he pronounce it himself.
