    It was an age or a decade of IMAGE and SOUND unified to create a world of its own. Somehow I still literally live there - at least in my own imagination, which makes it truly hard to live, even to breathe easily, in the world of today which is definitely dominated by ugliness and tastelessness ! Thank you for creating this video !

Perfect!

    I really like these music documentaries but find the narrator distracting , as I can’t work out if it AI or heavily edited script delivery. The tone and accent is lovely and engaging, it’s just the odd emphasis on key words and inflections at the wrong place .

      The script is made by me and is not AI. I am not native english speaking so I am sure you can look pass your "irritations" :) Only things that is AI is the voice and its based on my own voice.

    It was a very interesting time - I was there! What was great about it was how no one wanted to copy what had happened before. There was no rule book. A lot of bands started of barely being able to play or sing properly (of course they got better!). But the point was that it was art, even in a way concept art - perhaps most clearly shown by Devo, as you alude, but they all had a concept or reason to exist. Like little tribes. Most of the images you show here are of the "Blitz" crowd, who were quite different to the ska bands, or Adam and the Ants fans. All formidable, strange and wonderful in their own way! It was also a great era for women - no longer just a nice attractive or sexy add-on not to be taken too seriously. Sadly, I dont the record industry knew what to do with these amazing female artists long term, but worth looking into to see how much better things could have been. (see Poly Styrene, Hazel O'Connor, Toyah, and many more).. Also, take a leaf out of their book - use your own voice not just AI - it's unique and special. Just like all these good people!

    • @80sNewWaveMusic
      @80sNewWaveMusic 15 дней назад

      I agree with what you wrote. Yes most images are from The Blitz Club simply because it's extremely difficult to find any other images from the New Wave scene except for the punk scene from the late 70s start of 80s which this video is not really about. Regarding the AI voice. It's based of my own voice so it's quite unique. I am fine with it and I am sure you'll learn to live with it too :)

    One has to realize the TERM PostPunk didn't exist in the 1980's, it's a relatively new term to separate the Punk movement into two separate categories/eras. But actually there was no distinct separation between punk music created in the mid/late 70's and punk music created after 1979. Did New Wave come from Punk, not really as the similarities between the two didn't show up until certain punk bands started crossing over with pop hits.

    • @80sNewWaveMusic
      @80sNewWaveMusic 16 дней назад

      Many who was into Punk crossed over into the New Wave scene incl. artists so I dont agree its not related.

    New Wave is notoriously hard to pin down, because the term essentially encompassed everything from punk, post-punk, rockabilly, some prog-rock, goth rock/deathrock, synthpop, electro-funk, early indie rock, ska/reggae, some of the more eccentric folk music, italodisco....Prettymuch all "alternative" music that wasn't straightforward rock a la the Rolling Stones or Van Halen, or metal.

    I (born in 1963 and considering myself a lover of new wave) generally agree with this video as being the origin of new wave, but I'm sure others will think differently. But for me this was just the beginning, I consider bands like Siouxsie and the Banshees, The Sound, Simple Minds, U2 etc. as also defining the genre as we all did at the time!

    A lot of bubble gum pop back then. Per gaps the best amongst these groups was the very early Simple Minds albums
