Battlefield 2 (also known as BF2) is the third installment in the Battlefield series and was developed by DICE. It was released on June 21, 2005 in North America. The console port of the game, Battlefield 2: Modern Combat, was released on October 24, 2005.
A sequel, Battlefield 3, was developed and released on October 25, 2011.
Official servers were shut down on June 30, 2014 during the mass GameSpy server closure by Glu Mobile that occurred that day. The game can still be played online, however, through services like BF2Hub and Gameranger.
OVERVIEW
Battlefield 2 is the first installment in the series to be set in a modern setting, taking place in and around 2007 during a global war pitting the United States and the European Union (Euro Force) against China (PLA) and the fictional Middle Eastern Coalition (MEC). The game takes place on different fronts, with American and European Forces invading China and Middle Eastern countries, while Chinese and MEC forces invade the mainland United States (Armored Fury).
SINGLEPLAYER
Battlefield 2 features a singleplayer mode that allow players to play on multiplayer maps by themselves with bots on either the Recruit, Veteran, or Expert difficulties. Unlike multiplayer, which supports up to 64 players, this mode only supports a maximum of 16 players, limiting the mode to only 16 player sized maps as a result.

Battlefield 2 features twenty-one ranks. The game features numerous awards, such as Medals, Ribbons, and Badges that are obtained by completing specific objectives and award additional experience afterward.

CLASSES
The game features seven different classes, similar to previous installments, that have their own unique roles on the battlefield.
Assault - Primary role is to engage in combat with enemies at medium range.
Medic - Primary role is to revive and heal teammates.
Anti-Tank - Primary role is to undertake anti-tank warfare.
Engineer - Primary role is to repair or destroy vehicles.
Support - Primary role is to provide suppressive fire against enemies and resupply teammates.
Special Forces - Primary role is carry out stealth and sabotage missions.
Sniper - Primary role is to engage targets at long distances.

The best Battlefield game ever for its time. This franchise was always at it's best when it was the middle ground between military sims and arcade shooters. No other game came close. Now it's being ruined by CoD developers being in charge, launching BF2042 with no scoreboard, no server browers, no ability to change squads and more. They want to remove the old fanbase and replace them with young kids and CoD fans who never knew gaming without ridiculous monetisation systems and lackluster content.

I miss this concept. At the time I thought this concept was the essence of the Battlefield series, I thought it could never be changed, with bases, airplanes and helicopters stationed at an airfield, controlling a ship, a submarine, being a commander. Looking at the industry now it's understandable that developers has to give in to make the big bucks, simply this concept is too slow for people today, but I never thought Battlefield would sell itself like that.

Love this game so much, IT'S TRULY THE BEST BATTLEFIELD GAME EVER MADE and most Realistic of them all, i really appreciate watching your Gameplay, ever since back in the day i've only ever played the Singleplayer instant battle mode. the bots are quite good i must say, the multiplayer for this game is unforgiving.
its such a shame battlefield 3 didin't have an offline instant battle with bots on a map, since they chose to follow COD with the whole trends thing. the day BF3 dies it will truly die.
at best Battlefield 2 and 1942 and Vietnam will never die because of its offline mode with bots.
that's what keeps and makes a real game.
Offline is way better than online.
online people cheat and there's modders and its unfair to many new players because competition is unbalanced.
Hands down bf2 was the pinnacle. I too spent hundreds of hours offline honing my skills, (tanks, jets, helis and trying to find new buildings i can get ontop of) but online was where it was at, the servers I played like internode were heavily moderated, never took long for hackers to get banned. I was a 3 star general with over 4000hrs. I honestly believe I know more about the game play than anyone else in the world, ask my any question about the game and I'll be able to answer it. 😂

As someone that played anti-tank in this game. Stupid moves.
This was the best game ever if had a good group to play with. It was the worst if it was full of smacktards.
Although regardless the inconsistent hit detection, and my stats not tracking after every time I had a good game was very frustrating.
