Back when DICE made amazing games. I spent oh so many hours playing BF2 during summer breaks from school. Gotta get in those jets quick to be the one with a 80-1 kd. And then when Bad Company 1 and 2 came out I remember how revolutionary it was that you could break walls and then completely demolish a building. Oh the times.
This was my favorite map to play on this game and I spent many many hours here. I remember the chinese fighter jet was better than the american one so taking a helicopter over to their base and jumping in one as they spawned. Because it could turn faster than the USA one it had an advantage in dogfights so when the opposing jet was taken out just go destroy the other team till its time to take out the jet again.
classic. we were always infantry team usa wake island and flew always above the sky with black hawk to their base and occupied it :D i miss this game so much, i play sometimes on a russian bf2 server but its barely 1 server full.

Just when you thought you were about to win, you always had to watch for a defender swimming across the lagoon to recapture a base which would give them all a new lease on life. EA knows they make trash now. Like every other AAA publisher today, It's not about fun. It's about just creating just enough fun for you to endure their politically correct characters and the implied social messages while satisfying the 'shareholders' and the intelligence agencies.
I played bf2 from 2004 to 2012.. i remember there was even a bf2 fullversion browser version out 6 7 years ago.. nowadays u play a game not even a year.. sad sad
@@stecher1995 This is ONE of the reasons why private (player run) dedicated servers, dedicated server browsers, and Mod tools (SD kits to modify game play) are gone. They don't want player communities forming around a game that could last 10-20 years. They want to herd the player into the "new game" which is not very new at all, just an unimaginative variation and $$ grab.

I recently installed the game and patched it to 1.5, but I have problems with the textures. They are out of focus even though I play on 1920x1080 and maximum settings. Did you also have the problem? how did you solve it which graphics card and which driver do you use?
yes, I tried different resolutions without success. After that I tried different graphics card drivers, also without success. The problem is that the resolution in the menu is correct (1920x1080), but once the map is loaded and the game starts, the resolution is strangely lowered. Do you have any idea why?
That ship off the island that fired the cruise missile which when it killed someone never showed how they were killed. You could hit the Jets on the Island before they took off. People thought someone was hacking....lol
It was a thing back in the game. Never fly over the artillery while in action. Should have pushed to the beach zone in the first place.... but that is my opinion....
Are there any modern games that are like this, only newer? I like to play it with my brothers and bots. I tried Arma3, but it's too detailed. We have kids and don't have the time we used to. So we are currently playing a game made in the mid 2000s. It's fun, but I wish we had newer options.
Try Squad. It’s touted as the spiritual successor to BF2. In fact it’s al the developers that worked on the mods for BF2 that created it. It’s a little more tactical than BF2 but nowhere near as tactical as Arma 3. Look it up on RUclips. You’ll see it’s basically BF2 style graphics but beefed up to today’s standards.
Wake island in BF2 was somehow muuch better than wake island in BF5. Probably because of its unique game interface, game mode etc. Wake island in BF5 is infested with blatant cheaters which can one shot you with a shotgun from the corner of the map.
Still plenty of servers. But you need to install BF2 Hub and go through that. It’s a quick and easy install and it’ll migrate over all your old player stats and let you play on public servers (as Gamespy was decommissioned quite some time ago). I recently got back into it too. Still the best game IMO
I love watching BF2 again. Pity, that your team kinda sucks. No squadwork no real working together at all. Guess it has changed a lot in over 15 Years.

The games today have such superior graphics, but something got lost along the way, I remember now! Its called fun!

No algorithms to gimp the outcomes of gunfights to keep less talented players playing. No ridiculous hit registration issues. Good old gaming fun.

My favorite was turning around just in time to see the wire guided missile hit me in the head. I literally fell backwards over my chair.
