This vid was very helpful and I was able to do this job on my 13 Durango this week. The dealer wanted "258 plus tax". As a tip, I suggest using an extension socket thru the front grill to loosen/ tighten the latch.
Hey, I’m having the same problem… My brother is a Dodge master mechanic for over 30 years. I made the mistake of ordering a hood latch off eBay for $25 before I first checked with him. If your engine light is on my brother said your remote start will not work. I have a code that shows a slight evap leak. He told me there is some type of Lil pump up where the battery would be on the driver side but the battery is not there because it’s under the passenger seat. He told me that quarter inch plastic tube sometimes get a pinhole or splits. I would check that before you go through the hassle of buying this hood latch especially if you’re have a engine code engine or engine light on.

In the case that you have a good warranty, be careful of the company saying its not covered . I have a full bumper to bumper( 2014 ram 2500) and the warranty says that door LATCHES are not covered. The repair facility failed to get the repair paid for by the warranty co. 1st try. I had to call the warranty co. myself and explain that the LATCH was not broken, but the electrical switch attached to the LATCH was malfunctioning. It could get tricky because you can't buy the switch alone. You have to buy the whole LATCH assembly. I called the repair facility back , gave them the claim #, and told them they need to call the warranty co. back and word it properly. It was a new young person handling the repair & claim. She didn't have the tactical experience of dealing with warranty companies.
I wanted to encode the second key. Alfaobd window says write 5 digits of the pin. I entered 5 digits and after a while the window shows 4 digits. I guess alfaobd is not good for this job.
Nice video! I was wondering, i have a 08 hemi and my dash dont indicate anything is wrong but i heard hood pin/sensor might be The problem. But i cant fond any wiring or Sensor for the hood anywhere. Any ideas?

The hood latch has a sensor located within so it knows whether it’s latched or not. It’s an electrical fault causing the vehicle to think the hood is open even though it’s latch. Hope that helps.
Short review : great car, ehhh on gas mileage, power in snow. The small parts always break which adds up. Big parts hold up till around 200k miles in till you start paying up. DIY is easy.

I have a 6 month old Grand Cherokee and remote start works maybe one out of 10 times. No error code, sometimes one honk , sometimes two. Sometimes I try to remote start, get two honks but the vehicle doesn’t start… check the. Vehicle and before I get in I can see the dash lit up and the radio playing. On a cold day if I get in and manually start the truck, let it warm up, shut it off, go back in the house I can remote start it 😕. Already talked to my dealer and they said they have no idea but they’re looking at it in about a week’s time. Pretty sure on this newer one, if the hood is not latched you will see a code on the dash afterwards.

Use the tetra think cable tie. Cut it and use a piece to make the contact area tighter where the little plug sits. This will solve the problem.
Use an extra thick zip tie....

Yes sir. 8’ LED lights from the box box stores. They work great and save on the electric bill! A bit pricey but well worth it!

I had the same problem, I pulled the plug out now the remote works fine, and there are no warning lights coming on when while driving.

Look closely at your hood latch up front. See if there's a wiring connector on the left side of it.

Changed the hood latch and still stays hood ajar

What if it turns on , runs for a few sec then turns off?
Usually only does this when you need gas
Now mine turns on for a few sec I then tunrs off I did the fuel pump relay recall recently, maybe this is the problem.

If you have a check engine lite on the remote start will shut off within a few sec a safety for the engine
