That's a tough one! To be honest, in terms of looks I like the Toad design best because it's the original and probably the first I saw. However, feel is important and obviously the texture of the Toad is a little on the rough side, so then the ToadX and Smooth Toad could be considered better. I love the design of the Smooth but I think it is quite a bit chunkier than the other two. I was never that fond of the ToadX design initially because I just didn't like the large X. But honestly, the overall feel of it and size is very well done. I love all three really, and you can't go wrong with any, but I think when thinking about designs it's a good idea to take into account feel/texture and dimensions.
I have the toad X 3 click Teflon , ( not as Nice as the original toad of cause but without the sharp edges ) I pre ordered the sandwich zirconium, so I have now two different materials too : Teflon & zirconium- the harder clicky sound of the Teflon MIX with the "sweet" higher pitchy sound of the zirconium sandwich.
@usefulExp well the Rapt has more options for customisation out of box with different magnet and insert setups. Magnus sliders can be customised (like in another one of my videos) but that is not intended out of box and if you want different strength magnets that is an extra expense. The Toad is bigger than the Rapt, though both are a good comfortable size in hand. The SS plates on the Rapt are curved, and by design and material are far superior to any of the Magnus plates. Zirc on Zirc plates are horrible in my personal opinion, teflon on teflon is fine, but I seem to prefer zirc and teflon mixed on the Magnus sliders. I've also found that the screws on the Magnus sliders tend to work themselves loose and require loctite. MW Rapts do not come loose in my experience and do not require loctite. The clicks on the Rapt are more satisfying imo simply because there are so many ways to dial it in to your own preference. With Magnus you are more limited. Now on the whole, I love both but ultimately recommend a Rapt over any Magnus hands down. The only issue is availability. Custom Rapts are on hold currently though will be available again in future. Jonas is still putting Rapts out there on drops and is a very reliable and honest maker. When I ordered my custom Rapt he completed it in less time than he initially quoted and I received it within a week. Magnus sliders are far more commonly available on his website however in recent months he has become very unreliable in regards to actually finishing and shipping out orders within promised time frames. He has done this a lot, I even cancelled one order and got a refund because I kept getting different responses and promises that were not fulfilled. Despite his claims he will improve I have not seen any progress on this given the experiences posted by other customers on the FB group. He makes lovely work but I am not personally inclined to order from him again in future. At least not until he prioritises his outstanding unfulfilled orders before trying to sell new things.
@usefulExp you mean between the ToadX and Toad? Both are equally good and there isn't much difference between them aside from aesthetics and feel. The Toad is actually the older, original design. The ToadX came later I believe. I will say the texture on the Toad is quite rough and may not be for everyone. If you want something that feels more smooth, go for the ToadX or the Smooth Toad.
Yeah, really not cool. Three phone calls to get it sorted. I was so stoked to see this morning that both were arriving today. But yeah, they loaded it on the truck for delivery but wouldn't deliver it because they had failed to contact me over the charges I had to pay.

That's awesome, and yeah the mixed plates seems to me the best setup (in fact I think a lot of Magnus owners have gravitated towards that now) 👍
