Freeze Drying Collab & Tips!

Ashley and I got together for this fun freeze drying collaboration to help answer some of your questions when considering getting your own freeze dryer! I really love ours! It's definitely an investment but you can't beat that 20 year shelf life!

Yes! I made zucchini flour for my Mom. She made some zucchini/chickpea tortillas with it.
It's really hard to answer that question for other people because where we are financially right now, I feel like it's an extravagant unit that I wouldn't have gotten for myself if it weren't a gift from my inlaws. On the other hand, I do love it.
Would I get one again if this one breaks? Probably not. That's because I'm very frugal and through varying points in my life with highs and lows as far as financial constraints, I can't think of any point where I had that kind of money where I wouldn't have chosen to spend it on something else.
With all of that said, Harvest Right isn't the only game in town anymore and with competition comes improvements and price reduction eventually (I would hope).
Shelf life of freeze dried food is unbeatable but if I needed a stash of emergency freeze dried food it would be cheaper to invest in some packages of already freeze dried goods but of course they wouldn't be from my garden. 🤷‍♀️

@DiggingForHealth great points !! We looked at one at Farm and Home, super expensive, and the reviews were, meh.
The pull a lot of electricity aswell.
I think for us, we'd have to "fully commit", if that makes any sense, to get value from them !!

The freeze dryers themselves are about the size of a mini fridge so it's not small but the freeze dried food is so light that you can pack a large Rubbermaid with bags and it's still easy to lift! 😊 Thank you for watching!
