Booked this place for next month.1 night/3 people, deluxe king, with 3 breakfasts and 3 dinner buffets covered in price,£258...after booking ,i found this video....looks even better now!The food alone if bought seperate would account for roughly £125 of said £258.
Yes Kimpton Maa Lai is now a Amex FHR .Absolutely outstanding and so worth it. I would like to thank you for your reviews. We are currently in Thailand having stayed three/four of your Hotel/resort suggestions, used the Airport lounges u suggested in Singapore,KUL and Bangkok as well. Please keep up the great work, my wife loves your review vlogs..."that's how it should be discreet, not screaming I'm a youtube influencer please upgrade me or hook me up" with comps. Keep grinding and thank you
@tfft Now that's Funny...your work is so amazing..you are without a doubt a Powerful Influencer who inspires other to venture out their comfort zone.. Thanks
Had just stumbled upon your videos. Thank you so much for the honest review! Love how your videos are narrated and well equipped with prices and location. Youre a travel master!
We are going to stay testing the Sindhorn Kempinski just next door now that I see your review Im thinking I will have to also test the kimpton next time :)
Both are beautiful properties. Have just walked through the Kempinski but if your experience there is an ‘upgraded’ version of what I experienced at the Kimpton, then you’re in for a real treat. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
I'd go here for the Food alone added bonus is the "views" of the US Embassy 🤪. Probably not keen on the location as a tourist but the Hotel looked great. Thanks for the inclusion of the Menus, always look forward to your honest reviews👍
Thanks for the video man! Going to Bangkok in September and we were wondering where we should stay there. Saw your review and it greatly helped in our decision to book at the Kimpton. Our first choice was actually So/ but your video made us change our minds on it haha. The rooms felt a bit too small especially with that "Water" theme.
Yes for sure I’d go for the Kimpton over the SO/… along the same lines though you might want to take a look at The Standard which just recently opened. Haven’t been yet but will go next month. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
Felt the same way after watching the So/ review as well! Wanting to stay somewhere a little less corporate and more ‘thai’. Booked in at Shangri-la but now think it may be too dated and large. Too many choices!
Yes it is pretty dated. In that price range you might want to check out the Anantara Riverside if you want to be on the river. Also worth considering in that range: The Standard, Grand Hyatt, Sukhothai, or Hansar. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
Always honest and great review + your video and explanations are fantastic. Hope you have a chance to stay at Park Hyatt Bangkok or Okura Prestige Bangkok...want to see your scores on those hotels....Keep your work and thanks for reviews!
The Okura is certainly on my short list in Bangkok. Have stayed at the Park Hyatt in the past (before this channel) so that one is a bit less likely this year ☺️ Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
@@tfft Okura went downhill a tiny bit but its still my fav in Bangkok. Absolute Japanese luxury, amazing atrium, and even better infinity pool then Kimpton .
The Mandarin I stayed at a few years ago before I started this channel- the Sheraton, no. Have a few other Bangkok hotels on the channel- I highly recommend the Four Seasons if you’re looking for high end riverside. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
@@tfft I saw both your FS and Capella videos!! I have my heart set on the Mandarin for this trip (huge MO fan, staying at the one of the originals is a bucket list item for me). The Capella suites look stunning and hopefully in time the service issues you mentioned in the video can iron themselves out. Thanks for the reply!
Thank you for your review! How does Rosewood compare to Kimpton Maa Lai? I'm quite drawn to the luxury of Rosewood, but I’m really attracted to the lovely bathroom area in this room of Kimpton Maa Lai. I would also love to have a meal at the rooftop bar!
Have been trying to fix that in this video for months! Something about this video specifically has a "no blurring" glitch on it... Thanks for watching 🩴
Grat content man, I just made a booking for my upcoming Bangkok trip. Thanks man. Can you procide the link of the Craft's social media so I can get rhe secret code?😂❤
Thanks for another great review - we are planning a post COVID trip to Japan - Tokyo - Hakone - Kyoto- Osaka - if you are happen to do any review in those place please let me know Thanks in advance
I will be in Tokyo and Osaka in early summer, travel restrictions permitting. Most likely around 5-7 hotels will be featured. As always, thanks for watching 🙏🏻
I promise I am stalking your videos. It’s just that you have covered some of the Thai hotels/resorts in my list of places to stay/check-out. So, I do sincerely thank you for your great videos 😊
What is that device I see in many of your videos, looks like a flashlight on a wall bracket usually in the closet or near the safe? On the left at 9:52 in this video. All beautifully done videos. Don't know how you get them all done. I understand you live in Vietnam, but wish you did more properties in Western or Eastern Europe, or even, gasp, the U.S.
Every hotel room has a flashlight somewhere- so I’ll assume that’s what you’re referring to lol. Often mounted in a closet or in a drawer. As for European videos, the ‘price of entry’ to ensure a video from that region does well simply makes them not work the risk. There’s no audience for places under $500/night and I’m not spending $1500 😂
Yes I agree about the metro. I asked if they had a shuttle to one of the stations (like many hotels in the area do) when I checked in. They didn’t, and then when I saw that almost every guest was being picked up daily by Alphards or work shuttles, I understood why. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
I love your videos. Everything about them except the music. It's so loud when you are not speaking that, shortly in, I feel my shoulders start to tense up from the monotonous loop. I wish it where turned down to just be more in the background. Just a request. I mute the video but unfortunately miss much of your narration. I still enjoy your skillful filming and the score at the end. Thanks for the great footage.
All of my music is from artlist.io- for the specific title I’d need to check one of my backup hard drives which currently aren’t in the same country as I am :)
Staying here literally right now and I just want to update that the prices in the restos increased substantially by around 30 - 100 baht. The rooms are still great though, too great that we just wanna hangout here the whole day haha.
It was bound to happen eventually- frankly they were well under cutting other similar venues in BKK at the time. Glad you’re enjoying it though. I was just at the Sindhorn Kempinski a few days ago- recommend going over and having a drink in the beautiful lobby. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
Chase LHRC can be great - just be aware that linking your reservation to your loyalty program can be a pain. I assume because of the way they interface with the GDS though other agencies as compared to Amex, which operates their own agency.
I forget which way around AMEX works, but the FHR reservations may go through AMEX or via Expedia depending on if you pay up front or not. I think upfront payment is Expedia- and with them, I've never had a problem.
I really like your Thai reviews but it is clear that you are unfamiliar with this neighbourhood. Ratchdamri BTS is an 8 minute walk from Kimpton through soi Mahatlek opposite Velaa and Villa supermarket is inside Velaa. Kimpton through the garden it shares with Kempinski hotel, puts you in the centre of Velaa. Soi Langsuan with its cafes, lounge and rooftop bars and restaurants, being a one way street ending at Lumpini park with no public buses allowed on this street, is arguably the most desirable residential neighbourhood in Bangkok.
Thanks for your insight about the shortcut to Ratchadamri BTS- that shorter route I didn’t know about. Otherwise you’re certainly entitled to your own opinion, but I’ve stayed in slightly different parts of the same neighborhood more times than I can count at the Muse on Langsuan and the Hansar on Ratchadamri. At both of those properties, I’ve never had to make the shortcut you’ve pointed out. I don’t believe I said anything negative about the Langsuan neighborhood. My scores are all relative- for example if many 5-star hotels in Bangkok have a 90 second walk to a 7-Eleven, then a property where you need to walk 5 mins is slightly off of the mark in my scoring. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
Loved the review as always but a little of the American language isn’t agreeable to me for instance.. “it can’t be beat” being a bit of a purist the grammatical term is “beaten “ it must be followed by a past participle.. anyway whatever 🤷♂️
All of Bangkok is in crazy price territory at the moment. When things calm down, I reckon it will be in the low $200s which I think is fair. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
think its partially that way because its a newer property. I was looking to book the conrad which has been around for quite awhile and the price has increased some but not a huge difference from when I stayed there years ago. I suspect has new properties come out and the fresh factor wears off a bit that the price will drop some.
giving a thumb down. Love most of your film Kev but feel (my view) the rating is too high for a business hotel. The breakfast option is too limited for high mark given.
Uhh... ok. So "business hotels" aren't allowed to be nice... and if they are, I shouldn't give them credit for being nice? Hmmm. Kinda crappy of you to purposely try to hurt a channel simply becuase you don't agree with everything it says.
Love that you attached the restaurant menu in the video and the hotel looks amazing. Keep up the good works!
