- Before we swing back into the MCU with Wolverine and Deadpool, let's talk about Young Justice, shall we? That show with Robin, Kid Flash, Superboy, with occasional appearances from Batman, Superman, and the rest of the Justice League.
Okay, okay. Now that we got that out of the way, can we talk about something else? That something else being The Boys season 4. Clearly a lot of people aren't happy with the current direction with lots of comparisons to earlier seasons and Gen V. What do I think? I think we should wait until the season ends to pass judgement. It's the penultimate season of the show so let's accept that lots of these building blocks are placed now rather than later.

Young Justice season 1 was peak and the best season to this day. I really wish we had more time with the core six team members (and eventually Zatanna and Rocket).

@@vyruzoii the problem with young justice were the like 5 year timeskips inbetween each season. Even s2 suffered a bit because of how much story they skipped over. Young Justice s2 should’ve been everything they skipped like dick becoming nightwing, jason joining and dying, tim becoming robin, etc. theres so much development and story we SHOULD have seen and would’ve produced great emotional moments.

That said...yes the tie-in comics and the video game do explain the gaps, but I think what should have been done for all these plotholes? Different interconnected shows on Earth-16...that way we get our non-stop team stuff on Young Justice, but other heroes could have had their stories told in their own show and had some team mission mentioned in the background. I mean there's enough Donna and Cassie content alone to drive the invisible jet that's Diana series for starters alongside Villainy Inc stuff.
The best part about young justice is how it gave light to obscure characters (Sports Master, Artemis)

Artemis was so obscure in fact that she technically didn't exist prior to the show's airing as she's a combination of like three different characters.

Artemis wasn't really adapted well and kinda took from other characters like Rose Wilson and Cissie King-Jones.
The off screen character development was getting worse with every season. Ms. Martian breaking up with Superboy, Superboy and Superman's relationship shifting to more brotherly than paternal, Nightwing, and the death of Jason Todd.

Correction: Young Justice is not officially cancelled, it has not been renewed/ green lit for production.
Just like Glitch Techs, Elliott from Earth, and Mao Mao. So, it's basically canceled because everyone has moved on.

This is crazy timing cause I'm currently rewatching Young Justice and I'm up to the new seasons. So far it's better than I remember
I still like it too, I rewatched it earlier this year. I just hate how many plots they sprinkled out that was never resolved. Season 3 added a lot as well as Season 4.
I disnt even know there was any hate for the newer seasons. I just liked them. Sure a bit slower but i equated that to the slow weekly release

@@reneafrazier2493 If you have to do a timeskip and have the main cast evolve off screen there's an issue. Comic tie-ins shouldn't have to be mandatory to consume since the general audience won't take the time to actually read them.

Because producers became so hungry about renewing it. They started begging for fans to trend them again in order to renew rather than finishing the plot points, instead they added more and more plots that will never be resolved hoping the fans would trend them again.

I'm just annoyed that over 50 episodes later and it feels like the main story has barely progressed. The light is still like "everything is going according to our plans" and we haven't even touched on darkseid beyond granny godness. Don't even get me into introducing Jason is alive and then never doing anything with it. At this point, I have to pretend that the Under the Red Hood movie is cannon to get closure with that

I gave up the newest season before the nightwing arc(which is my fav superhero) and didn’t know he even had his own episodes but when you explained nightwing was barely in it you saved me time and frustration. I wish they treated his character better

The show’s time skips and exposition problem definitely hurt it. I noticed it in season 2 but I REEEALLY felt it in 3 and 4. Characters at times didn’t talk like people anymore. The art style in season 3 was a giant step down. The choreography of action scenes and blocking of talking scenes was just more stiff compared to season 1 and even 2 to an extent.

The timeskip between season 1 and season 2 really should've been something done later down the line. Don't get me wrong, I like the new characters in season 2, but it felt so sudden to jump 5 years and completely skip over such important events, like the deaths of characters like Jason and Tula or the og gang growing up and choosing their own paths in life. Also I'm so disappointed the Jason and Damian plotline will probably never be resolved, given it was one of the most interesting story threads to me.
Fair point I kinda feel they needed to explain more on to how Tula died but I think I kinda like the idea of Jason being this mystery death like he death was hit a lot of the team hard that he's kinda become a touchy subject to mention.

the first timeskip was definitely jarring when i was watching s1 and s2 consecutively. i wish s2 took place somewhere in that 5 year gap, and then s3 couldve been what s2 was. they could still have their timeskip and make the world feel “lived in” without it feeling like you just walked in on a new show

@@andaeleewhat theme? It pulled a Disney/Marvel 2010 era cartoon and just had the shows logo with some slight music cues for 5 seconds in Season 2.
The thing that killed Young Justice for me was the damn time skips so much development happened off screen so many characters introduced off screen like sometimes timeskips are necessary but the time skips in this we're kind of unneeded especially after the first time skip. There's so many characters and teams to keep track of and most of them are there as a glorified cameo at most to stand around and look cool.

Plus BTAS kinda did this like in S3 we ended on a decent note and then in S4 suddenly Batgirl joined the fam, Robin is a new younger kid and now Grayson is rockin a mullet.
That show could've shown us all that but it wasn't really needed to be seen. They had standout episodes that built to their "Lost Years" mystery as we figured out how and why.
YJ did the same they gave us enough info and character moments as to why this happened and you can pick up enough to understand where they are at now. It's not perfect but hardly anything new.
Besides we only get one year time skips which a lot of stories due to space out the timeline and events.

I remember hopping on my thick ass box tv one day in 2010 and randomly tuning into cartoon to see Robin, kid flash, and aqualad running away from xenomorphs and thinking damn, this is the best animation I've ever seen.
Last season just got weird af. They focused too much on the social justice gen z Tik Tok politics and interpersonal relationships that we didn't give af about anymore after the first 3 seasons rather than the superhero stories. They had so many unfinished storylines but yet we spent half of the last season on seeing the different phases of Beast Boys depression only for the outcome of that to be that he gets a dog and he's cured. They had Jason Todd, Supergirl working for Granny/Apokalips as a Fury, Damian Wayne, Wally coming back eventually, Darkseid, WarWorld, Zod and the Emerald Empress and a few more important storylines lines up but they made them all sit in the back of the bus. I don't give a rats ass about Rocket/Roquets child with a learning disability, show me what Damian Wayne is doing.
The show was a social justice PSA with superhero elements on the sideline by its end. If I'm watching a superhero show I'm expecting to focus on superhero shit mainly with the social messaging taking a subtle back seat (like with Teen Titans) and not the other way around. Instead we get characters like the mother box girl who's TRANSmission and nonbinary, a M*slim but is not M*slim anymore but still wears a hijab for reasons unknown when essentially she's a computer program wearing the body of a deceased woman as a meat suit. Like a whole mini arc was dedicated to explaining this to the audience 😭
We didn't know it yet but the Reach arc was the peak after that it's just been freefall. It was so bad I was happy when I heard it got cancelled again after I advocated for it to be renewed the first time it got cancelled 😂😭

I feel like I'm the only person alive who liked the newer seasons of Young Justice.
Forager was my favorite character out of the new ones introduced, but Violet and Geo-Force were both interesting and I liked getting to know them. Also I feel like the show still kept the original members around in a good way that enabled them to keep growing, The episode with Dick and the Roy's was comedy gold.
I really enjoyed what the new seasons had to offer, but also I do think that if we never get another season, Ending it on Connor's wedding with Megan is the best ending we could have gotten.

Honestly in my opinion both season 1 and 2 are amazing. Both good in their own way. First season made me love the characters. The second one was an awsome characters doing some insane big brain 3d chess moves
The other characters just showing up to take away screen time from the main team got so bad a character from a completely different show and continuity showed up to temporarily hijack the show. I love Green Lantern the Animated Series and I wish Razer and Aya had a proper conclusion, but hijacking a different show was just uncalled for. Though I will say that Razer was the best part of the episodes he was in.
I will not stop believing in YJ5.
I just want a season 5 so I can see more of Bart. He’s my favorite speedster, I’m okay with wally not coming back at this point lol

I like young justice it was season after season fun. Seeing important characters and teams form, the teen titans is cool. But your right a lot of the poor lines were dragged out a lot
My toxic trait is that I always get excited when I see people shit on Young Justice because I often think the fans of this show(or any capeshit media tbh) are too forgiving for their flaws. S3 and S4 really made me question why I like the show in the first place. I think at a certain point the cast just became too big that each character needs their own spin-off show. But I realize most of the people enjoying show just want their favorite run or arc from the comics get adapted into a cartoon, and YJ fulfills that. I don't read comics so I realized I stopped being the target audience and dropped the show no regrets.
Young Justice was a beautiful example of well established characters and core workers meet studio budget cuts and poor marketing direction.
Like imagine if they handled ATLA this way; we could have had it all. T-T
I was telling a friend about it and was like "just be careful because they do random time skips between seasons and don't tell you. Also they go through 3 Robins and never acknowledge it until nightwing shows up and you're like "oh, guess that's not Dick then"
One of the things that I liked the most of the show is how characters are allowed to grow, it is one of my main complains about the comics which have no end. Sure I am not the biggest fan of the 3 main new characters feom season 3 but I did like that things change and it doesnt forever stay in a status quo of death and rebirth.
Decent video but Young Justice is still great to me. I enjoyed all the seasons with 2 and 4 being my favorite. Alot of you guys weird complaints is the overattachment to the original team and the belief that the show somehow abandoned them when it never actually happened. I'm glad this isn't a majority of the fanbase and the RUclips reactions to the show have been way more positive.
It's not just about the original team. The season 2 team got nearly abandoned after season 3 and 4. They didn't jave to introduce new characters in season 3 when characters from season 2 and rocket still haven't gotten proper focus. Rocket and Cassie had less development than Black Lightning and Razer, and Razer was from a different show.

@@GamerSlyRatchet1 They were members of the team and had a lot of focus on them as a group in season 2. At the very least they should've focused more on the neglected members of the season 2 cast in season 3 instead of introducing brand new characters. We had more focus and development for Geo-Force, Halo and Forager than the pre established Rocket, Wonder Girl and Tim Drake. Stuff like the Black Lightning arc and Razer showing up only showcased how little the show cared for the pre-existing characters by dedicating screen time to characters they shouldn't have.

Young Justice drives me crazy because on the one hand, season 1 was so fucking amazing. On the other hand I, a certified Tim Drake fanboy, absolutely lost my marbles that they made Dick the Robin that founds Young Justice. Dick!!? Dick? Dick creates the Teen Titans, Tim creates Young Justice, them's the rules. Do you understand what we missed because of that?? Only the most amazing cute wonderful fan fuckin tastic charismatic bromance between Tim, Kon and Bart. Seriously, Tim and Kon especially are so iconic in the comics, they're besties and low-key they are like a healthier version of whatever is going on between Batman and Superman so it's really fun to watch.
I am envious of the people who do not care or know about the comics because they don't know what they're missing. Ignorance truly is bliss. If I could watch that show in a vacuum I would enjoy it much more.
Overall though I am exhausted by how Hollywood and animation studios and game studios keep ignoring Tim. I get it, it's hard to have a Robin whose actually super smart and competent and whose strenght is his intelligence, not his physical abilities. But Jesus Christ can we at least stop giving his roles to everyone else? (Excuse this silly rant I really needed to let it out, lol)

Season 1 was so good even as an adult watching it, but my goodness the other seasons were so bad because they changed everything and way too big of time skips. Also just way too many new characters, they should’ve just focused on the original crew with maybe a lil bit of new characters and no time gap

Well to say about Greg, I remember when there is a episode in The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes come out, his Spider-Man originally to appear in that episode but it was remove and replace his Spider-man with Drake Bell in order for them to debut new Spider-man animated series (Ultimate Spiderman)
When people asking him is Spider-man in that episode is his Spider-man? Greg deny that is not his Spider-man, he even give us the original plan about his Spider-man new seaons, movies basically like Ultimate Spiderman comic but its animated. He uses Spider-man as the way he introduce more characters into his universe.

I started watching Young justice when I was in college, as soon as I became aware of it, because I was reading through Young Justice v3 comics, the one with Tim Drake Robin as the leader. The one season j watched, before life got in the way, was simply amazing. I will watch the whole thing in full at some point, because it almost feels nostalgic remembering that time.
God I’m so tired of the timeskip complaint. Y’all really wanted to see Robin get in his feelings and leave just to come back as Nightwing for the 100th time? Oh wait, let me guess, I’m guessing we needed another Wayne Family flashback.
The show NEVER loses focus of the main group. It’s a DC show with an expanded universe. It’s not gonna be the same 7 people all the time. All of the characters in the group have like layers that include other characters.

Okay at best is giving it too much credit. Everything after the blue beetle/reach arc has been mediocre or straight terrible.
Even as a kid I could tell season 2 was worse. I just couldn't get over the time skip, and I didn't know who any of the new people were so I didn't care.

YJ isnt perfect but I absolutely LOVED the world building they were doing, how vandal savage is basically the father of most if not all meta-humans, Atlantis and probably something else that is escaping my mind right now. for me if they tighten up the pacing of how long it takes to resolve a certain arcs in the show and limit the virtue signaling and shoe-horning themes that make it sound like a PSA for tolerance, autism ep, Halo's gender identity, polyamorous relationships etc, I'd think they would have a 10/10 show as a whole. To clarify, we don't need to see representation of every community or hot button topics. I hope it does come back
Also I wanted to point out the I really enjoyed the Zod arc especially the time travel twist where Lor-Zod ended being the burn stain lol and how Ursa Zod became the Emerald Empress.

Honestly after seasons 3 and 4 I don't want any old time show to come back.
They did pretty much confirm why it was cancelled the first time. They put so much stock in the Green Lantern movie doing so well, they had a ton of money in the merch deal for that. Obviously, that didn’t go well. So pretty much all of the DC cartoons that were funded by said toy deal lost their life blood once that deal was ended, since Green Lantern was basically planned to be DC’s Iron Man MCU equivalent. Scary thought. Shows like that either need to do crazy well with merch OR get crazy good views. The show barely had any merch and did OKAY views. So it was axed.
In fairness regarding the views the schedule for Young Justice was all over the place. If I remember correctly, there were at least 5 months between the airing of the 8th episode and the 9th episode. Somebody higher up was definitely actively trying to kill the show and eventually succeeded. It was probably for the reasons you already laid out but I remember rumors of someone at Cartoon Network not liking action cartoons and messing with them when they could.

Cartoon Network and Disney Channel were in WB's mind having a Boys vs Girls battle...like the old WB/UPN days with teens, but for kids...and Cartoon Network was winning girls and losing boys while Nick and Disney were in an all-audiences acceptance mode...and most of the boys had even gone over to Disney at that point because of the Tipton Twins Tricks and the Russos....especially when the Earth-508 fans realized that Hawkwoman can raise three wizards and is also Sunset with one of Hawkwoman's dayjobs on the Proud Family. Cartoon Network wanted to be the boys club at the time, but they didn't want to see that they could be something else with different audiences.
Everything in the 2010's on Cartoon Network got dunked on because they were still trying too hard to make "CNReal" take off....even Ben 10 and Scooby-Doo's latest seasons at the time were being done dirty...and it's worse considering what show put Cartoon Network on the map that Scooby got done dirty there...because of what the newest iteration was in 2010...right after a huge year long celebration of the 40th to the 41st anniversary of the show. Yikes. Double yikes about depleting that Omnitrix battery.
CN should have tried to go more for the female audience at the time...especially since they had a pretty good audience archive already what with Totally Spies, Power Puff Girls (The Hanna-Barbera Classic version that later became the first CN Studios production) and in most markets airring either the 4kids or Cinelumè dub of Winx Club depending on which country used what....and Young Justice was pulling in ladies because ships sailed...and it's not like guys didn't watch those shows either, it was just that it wasn't what Cartoon Network wanted...and even if they wanted the boys still...they forgot how to properly appeal to their audicences. In the boys department...GL:TAS should have been promoted more and given a consistent time slot and placed back to back with Ben 10: Omniverse because it makes for a good pairup seeing as you could basically call Ben 10 a Multiverse counterpart to Kyle Rayner because even Kyle has Hal's "you have rules? Who do I look like to you Superman? Name's GL, I'm going to light this villain's rear end up and toss it in the nearest quantum vortexx" attitude...except much like Ben, he's a lot younger than Hal and both are like kids with new toys when given their iconic devices...unfortunately for villains turning into a Kryptonian or worse Tamaranean is an option for Ben.

Season 3 and season 4 was the best seasons, and they had the best character development ever. I hope we get a season 5 and the new characters they introduced was cool and the powers.

Forager is just CRINGE cause his voice is annoying and speaking fluent sentences in the third person has ALWAYS been annoying. The ONLY time that works is with characters like groot who have very limited vocabulary or cavemen who dont speak fluently or often. And as I said his powers SUCK in comparison to every other character in the show and in the broader scope of DC

The second they teased Red Hood, Damian and Ra's Al Ghul leaving the Light and League it superceded everything else going on in the story. The fact that the show is canceled again and no resolution to that but the focus on unnecessary characters like Halo, Forager and Geo-Force really frustrated me.
Halo is more important to the whole plot with Darkseid and The Light than anyone from the League of Shadows. They're literally the key to the Anti-Life Equation.
The show hasn't actually been cancelled yet.
Young Justice season 1 is my favourite animation ever.
The time skips were definitely annoying to me especially the first one as someone who is a Bat family robin fan, we missed the development of robin maturing and aqualad passing the torch of leader to him, and the whole Jason Todd thing. if they ever do greenlight another season i need red hood to make his appearance, and I need flashbacks of his relationship with the team they also need to finsih this darkseid arc since its been building up since the beginning and if Greg wants to go on forever then fine, but atleast give closure to your built up arc especially if you know your show is always at high risk of getting cancelled I would also like to see them bring Wally back with him possibly wearing the rebirth flash suit.

Look, young justice is a really good show the team knows how to stay together and protect each other and also don’t forget even thought Aqualad and Artemis as Tigress were working for the light they weren’t dead because that wasn’t the real Deathstroke that was Miss Martian she was with them the whole time because Aqualad was on a deep covered mission and his plan did work. The light was broken in half and the reach was defeated, and they were still together the team and the outsiders and the justice league was very pleased and sometimes they keep secrets, so no one knows what really happened so the truth is Young Justice is a really good show and if it keeps up the good work, it’s still a really good show
I will express an unpopular opinion, but seasons 3 and 4, as for me, lose to season 1, but are clearly cooler than season 2. I don't understand why there is such a dislike for the new characters that are being emphasized in season 3. The Brion's Arch is one of the most interesting in the season. There are also many interesting things connected with Haylo and her origin. Well, Forager is purely a matter of taste. Regarding Black Lightning, he has a role in the plot, he has an evolution. And I like that the show has grown and that it feels different. Also, the show in season 3 and 4 perfectly developed the mythology of the series, telling us about the lords of order and chaos, the origin of the Vandal Savage and the treaty with Darkseid. Yes, sometimes the series were overstretched, especially at the end of season 3 and in the arc with Garfield in season 4. But at least Beastboy has a reason to be like this. Now about the villains. And what's wrong with the Zod, if it's not a secret? For once, we have in the villains of the season not one of the henchmen of Light or Darkseid, but a separate character Lor Zod, who is essentially the younger generation of the Evil League. What is the problem? Now about the arches in season 4. I really liked this idea, as it was something new for the junior league. Damn it, they managed to make Rocket (a character I didn't know anything about) an interesting hero for one arch, well, that's my respect. I am also glad that the show does not indulge in the appearance of characters from an old, already forgotten era. I'm talking about the Raiser in episode 19 of season 4. I see that the creators did not care and that they treated the work with deep respect. Nightwing's arch allows him to reveal himself as the leader of the team. Yes, there is no mixing with Jason Todd, well, okay, we'll get over it. Would I like to see it? Yes and no. On the one hand, it's cool, but on the other hand, I want the new characters to get more love. Well, the final arch of season 4 turned out to be the most eventful. Again, the seasons are not perfect. In my opinion, there is a lot of water in them and some things stretch the narrative. But clearly they are not as bad as many people say. And some just don't want to accept the changes that need to be made. Something like that)))

It was easier to spread the screen time around when the cast was smaller. But with the much larger cast in later seasons they should've been focusing more on the next generation heros instead of Black Lightning.

While it is true that everything after season 2 no longer has the same simple quality that season 1 has (you can even include season 2) they are still in no way bad seasons.
Season 3 was the weakest season but season 4 brought back the pace a little that it almost went back to season 1-2 roots but in a wider scale.
I think the show trying to aim to heighten the stakes is part of the problem, but I disagree with saying the show had to die because of these gaping flaws especially since we don't get a complete ending.
Young Justice was pretty among teens growing up since there's a drought of a weekly action animayed show for teens. The other option wss Master Spinjutzu which was peeak (make a vid about it bro pls lol). When yhe show came back therwas alot of hype which died down so fast I didn't why until i watch the first episode and realised. 'this ain't it fam'
ON GOD, the last season was so f random to me. Y'all can fight me over it, but even the 2nd season was A LOT to me. Too many characters and s*it. I love how the YJ universe feels so real and expansive! However, at many moments it was tiring.
Also, the Beast Boy arch, THANKS for saying that. It's cool but goddammnnn from a storyteller perspective, a person who doesn't already love the character will get tired of the character. Yes, it's awesome to take on serious topics on animation, however, there's ways to do it that will truly impact the viewer

I liked how it grew up with us and got darker and brought in more real world issues with the mental health crisis racisim and so on. It isnt canceled and it perfomed great according to Gunn. The problem was alot of hbo animation was canned and it was one of them but he has talked a few times about shopping it around. Wouldnt be surpised if after caped crusader it comes to prime.
