I was going to plant marigolds near my bean crops not knowing that they shouldn’t be planted near one another. Thank you for mentioning this allelopathy aspect.
I love marigolds . I remember my grandparent's used to line their driveway with them . They were mixed with yellow and orange marigolds . I thought that was so pretty !! I kind of like them set about set 5 inches apart and I like them bushy . I don't know how my grandparent's got their marigolds from getting so tall though ?
Thank you for your valuable information! :) I also love to plant flowers and I have marigolds that I grew from purchased seeds. I would like to propagate them so I can give them away to friends as gifts. I live in Germany and my zone is 8b. Could you give me some advice on how to propagate marigolds from stems...and can I plant the seeds in the winter? Thank you in advance.
Oops, I planted my marigold near my beans this year (first year I am planting marigold and there happened to be a spot there), wonder if that is why my beans are turning brown. Thanks for the tips!
They look awesome now. They were more than half dead when I bought them off the clearance rack at lowes for $1. They're a bright orange now & blooming daily 🤗
my marigolds wont flower. i grew them from seed, they're about 30cm tall and form buds the size of peas an then the buds just die. i have sandy gritty soil and they're in full sun from 9am to about 5pm. i have never fertilized them. what am i doing wrong? :(
So they're pretty easy to take care of. I planted African marigolds in my flower bed, some yellow ones and some orange ones. The orange ones don't seem to be doing well. For some reason the orange ones seem to be dying before the buds even fully bloom. Anyone know what could be causing this?
so if we only need to water them once a week then do we need to put fertilizer once a week as well? sorry if that sounded wrong I'm still kinda new to planting I'm just trying to learn the best I can so that I could grow my marigold
So I can see this is an old post but if anyone is wondering, no this is not a perennial plant so it won't grow back as far as I know. Although I am a beginner so what do I know. Hope you figured out the answer by now though. Have a nice day!
hi, i made bed of marigold but unfortunately plant getting too high but not giving even one flower, what is the reason behind plz reply me, I am getting so frustrated
You just want to avoid a fertilizer with a high first number. (NPK Number) Something like Jack's Classic Blossom Booster that is 10-30-20 or something similar would be good.
Love that rotating hanging basket contraption!

Yikes, watered my marigolds everyday and although the flowers survived, the leaves are starting to brown. I'll cut back watering. 🤔 Thanks.
Excellent tips. I never knew about the deadheading. I'll definitely do that with my French marigolds now.
very direct and simple tips, great piece of information!

My marigolds haven't developed a flower, I watered them too much. My plants are close together and very bushy. Will they ever develop a flower?
Seems like such a friendly man, lovely.
Thanks! -JRM
Well I've got mine way too close together lol. Thanks for the video.
Adrienne/So do I.

layce25able Sandy gritty soil
How do u prevent them from getting too tall and leggy? Mine were getting too top heavy and the crazy rain broke all of them
Pruning is the only thing that stops them growing too tall.

I recommend fertilizing according to that particular brand's instructions. (Usually a couple times per month.)
