    Marigold is a winter flowering plant that adds a spectacular look to your garden with vibrant color flowers with plenty of blooms. This Plant repels some insects like nematodes in the soil that can be seen under the microscope. Nematodes spread root-knot disease and destroy vegetative crops. French marigold can be grown to naturally overcome nematodes. Marigold plant is beneficial for a vegetable garden as it attracts pollinators.

    • @eURBANORGANICGARDEN

      Watering depends on the soil. If there is moisture, I skip watering till it gets dry. Specially, in plastic pots, moisture remains for many days.

    Mam, how to take seeds from marigold? Is the the flower required to dried out on the plant itself or a mature glower to be plucked and dry out under sun?
    Secondly my hybrid seeds are not germinating. Does it requires any special care?
    Thanks in advance

    • @eURBANORGANICGARDEN
      @eURBANORGANICGARDEN  3 года назад +1

      It is good to collect flowers that have dried on the plant, that 100 percent ensures getting good seeds.
      Hybrid plant seeds never germinate. You have to grow a new plant from the cutting. ☺️

    • @sharadsharma678
      @sharadsharma678 3 года назад

      @@eURBANORGANICGARDEN thank you mam, you mean to say before the plant die we should get a cutting from it and grow it for next season?
      I think this is the only way we can have plants for next season. Mam tell me one more thong what about the hybrid seeds sold in nursery stores,do they germinate ?

    • @eURBANORGANICGARDEN
      @eURBANORGANICGARDEN  3 года назад +2

      Hybrid seeds do not grow naturally, grown by cross pollination and are commercially available. Plants grown from these seeds produce more flower or fruit. But unable to produce seeds. Whereas, normal plants grown from openly pollinated seeds grow nicely and produces seeds that can be used again.

      Spray neem oil solution on it every alternate day till spider mites go away. Don't pull the plants rather take a few cuttings and grow where you want them to be.

      We also lost them to fungus, (the flowers turned black) but they were able to make a full recovery with use of copper fungicide. My question is do you have another remedy for this that might be cheaper or made at home?

    • @eURBANORGANICGARDEN
      @eURBANORGANICGARDEN  2 года назад +1

      I always make neem oil solution and spray it before spider mites build their colony. It also help controlling fungus. Because once you have this plant ,there is a guarantee of spider mites infestation. So, make sure you spray every 15 days even there is no mites.
