Your a good man the way you admire your wife.... and thanks for the marigold tip. 😊
I've always loved marigold's. my great aunt showed me how to grow them when I was a young girl and they've held a special place in my heart since then.
+upittman1

Nancy does a great job videoing you working in the garden. I really enjoy the prayer at the end of your videos and say it with you each time. God Bless and take care.
+Teresa H
Nancy does the hard part and I do the fun part. She is great!! It makes me smile knowing you say the little prayer with us!!! Thank you for being our friend. Have a blessed weekend!
love the way you talk about your wife. i realy love how you use any chance to give honor and praise to our Father. May our Lord and King bless you in His Shalome
good for you...this is awesome. I have been gardening only a couple of years ...just learned to can last year...and I will be sixty on November 1st. We live in a small community and tailored our garden with raised beds and fence and pleasing solar lights and such, our grandfathers would have thought silly but for all the reasons you stated we wanted it nice. I did not put in flowers and said something to hubs about it for the bees but now I can convince him for sure. thanks your garden is beautiful
+eleanorkerby
Your garden sounds peaceful. Flowers are valuable in the garden in so many ways. Tell your husband I said "you're welcome" LOL😀
It's a beautiful introduction. ! Happyness is the most tonic for life.!
+thu Nguyen
Indeed!! ❤️❤️❤️
very instructive. Thank you so much... love the prayer
My first time watching you. Instantly subscribe around 2 minutes in. Many good people can learn much from you. Thanks for the info and perspective.
+Scott Comella
Thank you so much for watching and subscribing. Welcome to the family 😍😍🐶.
Just a thought. I've noticed your have your garden section all fenced off with some tension wires. If you were interested you could put some small diameter pvc pipe or conduit between your posts on that high tension wire. If you place it right at the top, when an animal comes to grab the top to climb over into your garden, they will encounter the conduit and it will roll preventing them from climbing into your garden and reeking havoc.
Just subscribed and I’ve been binge watching your videos!! Getting so much inspiration from you both to start really getting more into gardening. That was the cutest little intro I’ve ever seen!!! Calling your wife the prettiest flower in the garden 😍😍 melted my heart!!!
AWWWW, THAT IS SO SUPER SWEET, WHAT YOU SAID ABOUT YOUR WIFE BEING THE MOST BEAUTIFUL FLOWER IN YOUR GARDEN, SO SWEET
+hildy e.
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
You have the the most organised, eye pleasing, clean, manicured, weed free, most beautiful garden I think I ever seen. What I wouldnt do to be your neighbor LOL
How sweet Nancy should be pleased. You reminded me to get marigolds thank you
You two are so cute!! Loved the video, thanks. Yes, I subscribed. I'm looking forward to seeing you again.
Welcome to the family Lila❤️❤️🐶
I use the Black Kow too. I hope though next year to have plenty of my own compost to use as I have 3 city lots that are going to be filled with a huge urban garden to feed my family and friends. :)
+Barefoot Urban Homestead
Awesome!
Hi fellow Gardner love your vids I’m a newbie at gardening so thanks for the great tips and advice
Greetings and love from the United Kingdom
Watching your videos the past 2 months or so has really helped to inspire me to start my own vegetable garden. I have a 40sq. foot garden and am very excited about growing food for my family. We all have to start somewhere. What's your opinion on sunflowers as part of a garden? I was thinking about adding them as pollinators with the added bonus of harvesting seeds. God bless.
+Adam Carpenter
They are beautiful and will draw bees for your garden. You can also harvest the seeds. The down side is squirrels love sunflower seeds too. Thanks for watching our videos!! So glad they are helping you ❤️❤️🐶
What a beautiful and sincere opening. It made me smile from ear to ear 💕
Bless your soul brother.
Keep it up.
I love this video. I learned something new.
+Mjay Beason
Thank you so much for watching!! Have a peaceful week ❤️❤️🐶
Hi. Your homestead is awesome. How tall did your marigolds grow? They look so cute with their big blooms and short stems.
About 18”
Wonderful video!
Glad you liked it!
I have watched so many of your videos. How much black kow manure do you go through a year? LOL
Oh those tomato sandwiches sure do look good. Have you ever ate cucumber sandwich just as good
+Selma Wrightson
Yes, we love them!!!
You should put sunflowers out there and other pretty flowers!
Nancy loves sunflowers! I am working on a big flower area for her now. It will include sunflowers, wild flowers and a bunch of different flowers that she picked out. We will do a video on it for ya ❤️
The free compost I get from my city is a great filler but being new/too fresh I think my plants are struggling a bit.....gonna get some of those yellow bags of cow manuer.....local hardware store carries it 😁🐄🐂
Consider a couple of chickens. The rotted chopped straw and manure combined with leaf compost makes up 3/4 of what I put in the raised veggie beds. I personally have poor drainage so even in the raised beds I make it 1/4 sand and 'stir well' as the recipe would say! Also they eat the bugs etc...an organic pest control as Martha would say.
I wish my city offered free compost. I think they offer free mulch from the Christmas trees.
I admit complimenting your wife at beginning gets a like right off lol Great start!
Oh how smooth 😂 Lucky Nancy haha
My 6 year old daughter brought home a plant in a tiny plastic cup in April of 2022. It wasn’t more than an inch tall and had just the two seed leaves on it! I’ve been taking care of it for my daughter and it has reached 39 inches in diameter and 32 inches tall! It’s a Marigold with deep orange flowers with a tinge of burgundy and a yellowish center! Is it common for marigolds to reach this size… in terms of a single plant! I’ve had to transplant it 4 times so far and the root system looks amazingly healthy, vibrant and vigorous!
Thats beautiful. :) what a special plant
I want a husband like you!!! Inspiring...
You earned a like and a comment on this video simply for your intro and how kind you speak to your wife.
❤️
Hollis, I love your videos & they provide so much joy & information. I also like how you both put in God's word at the end of your videos. Please check out this book called "Muscle and A Shovel" by Michael Shank. It is based on a true story about a young couple who had their life planned out until the husband, Michael, met a man named Randal at his new job, who introduced him to the gospel of Jesus Christ. It is really good story. I couldn't put down the book.
Pepper mint, lemon balm, sage, sunflower, pumpkin, .. These are the best to attract pollinators.
I always plant marigolds in my garden, but I could probably stand to plant some more 😊
Aww at the beginning. Your husband is so sweet :)
My 4th period Career Exploration Class likes your youtube channel. They wanted me to say that you did a great job with your video. They like how you planted the marigolds, how you spoke to and about your wife, and your sweet/kind personality. We were all happy to subscribe. Blessings from Ocoee Middle School, Cleveland, TN
Please tell your class for me:
I am so proud of each of you as you pursue the skills of gardening. It is a hobby that will bring joy and peace to you for the rest of your lives. Each year as you grow something new, please plant a little extra to share with others that are unable to garden. Growing your own food is even more rewarding to share than to receive. Thanks to each of you for subscribing to our channel. Your thumbs are definitely getting green! Have a peaceful week. The world needs more people like you ❤️
Hollis, Nancy and Bing Bing
I was watching your video and was just blow away with the care and knowledge you share. I went over to watch couple of your other video's. I love your big yard of garden, then your chicken eggs video. Am so glad to see people still pray. That last part of video touch me. Thank you for standing with the lord. Be Bless have a nice weekend.
Thank you for watching Dan. Welcome to the family ❤️❤️🐶. Enjoy your garden this spring 👍
Where do you get the black cow manure at? I’m in zone 9 Northern California and I can’t find it.
I plant marigolds as well. I love the compliment you gave your wife. Blessings to you and her🙏🏾
Besides marigolds, are there other flowers or plants repel garden pests?
At least 24 others.I Google it last night.
God is good!
I love marigolds the ones i had last year must have been fuzed with godzillagold because they were HUGE!!
can you make a video of the tiller you use please? I'ma hard working woman but shoveling takes time 🤦🏻
Marigolds are great. Dry them and drink in tea. It promote feel good effect and much more. When dry marigolds are not stinky at all but have a apricot like flavor
While you were spreading the soil I found myself being relaxed. When you get your new garden going in your new home, can you do more “relaxing” videos?
I enjoy watching you two so much! the love you have for each other and gardening brings a smile to my face and a warmth in my heart everyday! my two little 4x8 raised beds can't compare to your garden but your tips will help a bunch.
The neighbors are the same people that will go to the store and pay top dollar for vegetables that they don’t even know where they come from!
True that
if I thought Marigolds would keep some of my neighbors away, I'd plant more of them
Or buy "organic" at ridiculous prices when it may not really be organic! Just paying for a name!
So pretty! I did that last year only because that are such pretty flowers. They grew so well that they hid my tomatoes and peppers and the neighbors would walk by and take pictures! I was so flattered!
+Cat Lover
Wow that is great. It is always a good thing when your neighbors like your garden. Thank you so much for watching. Have a peaceful day. 👍
What a romantic man who love his wife.
Marigolds keep other pests away from plants and they're edible!!
What variety of marigolds are you using here? I've not seen any that pretty yellow color. Thank you!
African Giants
Even a video 4 years ago.. I still love these. You both are a treasure.
That was the best intro I have seen yet!! :-)
I wish dirt and other garden materials came in compostable bags. It only makes sense.
Oh sorry, I would hope that I am not alone at any given moment watching your videos, and if all things were equal you would be bringing multiple people together, if we think or chat about christ then he is here with us. Please think positive thought while watching this channel, think well and loving thoughts about your fellow people. I'll think well of you also, and may we all be one with God in the end. May you always receive that which is needed or an excess if you are inclined to share. God bless.
Get video. I am trying to start a small garden consisting of tomatoes , hot peppers, & bell peppers and I purchased marigolds 2 days ago. I will follow your tips. God's continued grace to you & Nancy, my brother and sister in Christ Jesus! Such a loving & humble spirit. God bless.
I am new to gardening and was wondering if you could tell me if it is better to grow cucumbers verticle or let them cover the ground? I have tried verticle twice and not really gotten good yeild.
I prefer vertical. Much easier to control disease and harvesting
Aww Nancy he just loves you, so sweet. ❤💚💙💜💛
Do you know you can save the blooms after thy dry out and use them for seeds for your next crop and plant them
I mix Marigolds with lavender/peppermint/basil/bee balm/ lemon grass/ Rosemary and garlic … it’s a powerhouse for bug / mosquito repellent and helps keep rodents away
how do you do that
@@kimberlyorn4582 I think she meant that she plants all those in one container all together like that
I've just recently heard of using marigolds around the garden. I know they're good for mosquitoes. What can i do to deter cats? My neighbor has rougly 12 that just run wild. We live in a neighborhood just outside the city limits and though we like pets 12 is a bit much. What can we do to keep them out of the garden? I'm planning on frncing but these cats are houdinis. They get anywhere and everywhere. Please. Help!
I must say I stubbles know your channel by accident and I’ve stayed. I love your videos and the fact that you always thank God for his blessings.
Thank you so much❤️👍. Have a peaceful weekend 😇
I call marigolds brother's bane, because my brother has been sent to the hospital a few times thanks to marigold allergies. I don't think there's any other flower he's more allergic to
I love the cross
Thank you Cindy. We find peace with the cross overlooking the garden
I have raised vegetable beds. Tell me if it is a good idea to plant marigolds at the edges of bed? They will not change the taste and smell of vegetables?
+ytgrabber
It will not change the taste or smell of the vegetables ❤️
Its Known As "Gandha" In Bengali Language Of Calcutta, And "Gendha" In Hindi Language Of New Delhi .
The Both Names Are From India.
+Indivar Das Goswami
Very interesting, thanks for sharing😍
Omg! Can you get any sweeter?! Your wife is a lucky woman to have you!
Awwww your love for your wife is admirable those flowers are not as pretty you're right :)
She’s a keeper ❤️
I love your videos as they are so down to earth, full of information and the lovely comment about your wife was so endearing. Your respect for your neighbours is great, hopefully they are appreciative of it. The birds in the background were music to my ears. I am in Nova Scotia , Canada and just itching to get out and dig in the dirt - another month probably before I can do so. Thanks for all the great advice.
You're so sweet I cant take it lol
LOL
Thank you for the info. Just got my marigolds and planted them next to strawberries i hope their smell will keep the insects away :))
Good luck!
The Marigold bed looks very nice.
Your garden always looks perfectly weed free. How much time do you spend weeding? And do you put anything down, like Preen, to help prevent weeds?
+Beth Roe
Thank you Beth for watching and commenting!! No, I never use any type of herbicides in our garden. I maintain weeds with my cultivator and some hoeing and some hand pulling. I can keep up with the weeds if I cultivate every 3 weeks (Check out our video entitled Weed Control). Have a blessed day my friend.
Thanks for your video, its lovely. I have planted marigold and and other bee/ butterfly loving plants from seeds , i like to know if I should uproot them and rearrange them in a pattern, should I?
great vid. was wondering what attracted bees . mental note for the new year. GB
+Isabel Dowdy
The yellow color and smell seems to work well for me👍
Awesome!!! 👍👍
Why the posts inside your planter area? Loving your site.
Raylene Evans I believe he attached fencing to those for his cucumbers, squash, beans etc..
Those are riser stations that I attach my sprinkler heads to at the top. The elevated head gives me a lot more throw with my irrigation pattern for each head as compared to them being installed at ground level. This allows the irrigation spray patterns to reach the middle of the garden
Aw that was the sweetest intro to a video I've ever seen 😊
❤️❤️❤️
I plant my tomatoes in frabic containers. Can I put the marigolds in the bag with them?
I wouldn’t but that’s just me
Best RUclips opening ever!👍
❤️
Gosh you got such a beautiful garden... I grow marigolds every year from seed... I love your big white cross... glory to God and thank him for his Wonderful Grace.
Praise God, the only creator!! Love seeing your praises rise! YHWH bless you!
Beautiful! Love it.
+Theresa Cook

You are so welcome
love marigolds & bees. your backyard garden is very aesthetically pleasing. God is Love. God Bless. : ) Bonnie
Love your channel. I live in the north east corner of South Carolina just about a 30 minute drive from North Myrtle Beach. Last summer I started using some of your gardening techniques all I can say is wow I can the best tomato crop ever. This year I plan on growing my own plants I have been watching your seed starting video's.
Thank you for teaching us how to survive. I love this video. God bless
Thanks for watching
1st observation a beautiful natured home & land! Best wishes.
+Bruce Marchetta PCMA
Thank you so much!😀
I'm totally on board with the 3rd reason. Adds that little splash of color and looks so nice
Is that a electric fence and does it really work. I have a squirrel and some other night time rodent problem. Can you help me out please.
Beautiful! Doing God's work!
Thank you! Have a peaceful day 😇
marigolds are also the bomb for keeping soil nematodes under control ... another reason your tomatoes (and other nightshades) as well as cucurbits, and others will love you.
This garden is so neat and tidy. I would be surprised if your neighbours make a fuss about it.
Only one didn’t like it but I gave her a bunch of vegetables and the complaints seemed to magically disappear 😁
YOU BURRIED YOUR WIFE IN THE GARDEN!!! LOL
Love the beginning. So sweet! Thanks for sharing this video
