Their music literally saved my life on several occasions. Most would think katatonia just put out depressive music. They're missing the point, it's cathartic music.
At the moment, I am quarantined with my family because of coronavirus. I also suffer from depression. Of course all of my councilling appointments were cancelled. My family does not take my depression seriously. They just keep saying its not depression. Katatonia are the only people that do take me seriously. They know how I feel, and I know that they will always be here for me when I am depressed to the point of feeling sick. If any of you guys are reading this, I cannot thank you enough for providing me with this great music to keep me sane.

I've been there. You want those who support you around. It does go away. I can't tell you your cause but for me I think it was my prior gut symptoms, as brain and gut are Verrrry connected. Try to find positive ppl and do online counseling if you can. Mine are by phone. Depression is super common so you are definitely not alone

As much as I have fallen out of listening to Katatonia because the darkness that exists will inevitably have an effect on the subconsciousness, I must say the solo at 2:48 is one of my favourite heavy metal guitar solos ever.
I've seen alot of comments saying katatonia is depression/ depressing. Example "unfurl ". But to me they're not depressing at all. I'd categorize as trippy and good vibes.
Anyone here has watched the documentary about the band on "Last Fair Day Gone Night"? I doubt most people will see this band as something so "darkness-inducing" after that. Actually it also gives a good insight about the band's history and sound, of course.

It's dark enough to get to me even through states of heavy depression, but it doesn't amplify it, to me it's the sound of relief
