Katatonia is a Swedish metal band formed in Stockholm in 1991 by Jonas Renkse (formerly aka Lord Seth) and Anders Nyström (formerly aka Blakkheim). The early Katatonia albums are noted for the overall melancholy of their sound, often giving them the classification of doom metal. Katatonia's more recent albums have progressed to a wider sound, with modern overtones, dropped guitars, symphonic synths and arrangements, alternative sounds and generally heavier riffs.

Jonas always sings about his brother. It has something to do with Omerta ( The Mafia ), The month of July and Departer ( which is a conversation between him and the ghost of his brother) . He is a brilliant artist.
Jonas doesn't have any brother.

@@witheredserenity3183 before I replied, I've searched any data of Jonas' personal life and background of this song and found nary a single mention about any brothers Jonas has.
@@Meledyne I checked after I commented and also found nothing. Even in an interview about the album that went through each track, no mention of a brother for Departer. Wonder how that misconception started.
I had this song playing in my head at my uncle’s funeral. He died 6 months after my father. I had no idea how close they were until I saw the memorial services announcement in my uncle’s shirt pocket at the viewing. This song makes me think of them.

katatonia songs are just soooo fecking good, the emotions to stronk!
there actually aren't words to describe how i feel about Katatonia. Everything they create is a masterpiece and Jonas is one of those true geniuses who don't get receive proper recognition for what they are capable of. But I quite like it that way, because their gigs are small and intimate and absolutely beautiful.
The vocals in this song create such a dark and foreboding mood, but so beautiful at the same time...................
Jonas and Krister singing together is something I hope happens more in the future.
I can listen to this song over and over and just feel a strange and good feeling throughout the song and long after.

Agreed man, his fills are more tasty than a juicy beef steak. Amazing grasp of groove and rhythm as well. Thankfully their later albums had production levels that allowed us to hear his subtleties as well as power
