Ryan and Jason for me, Ryan is Sonic's youth and enthusiasm, energy and radicalness.
Jason is that too, but is Sonic's maturity and growth as well, a fine line between humor and seriousness, friendship and recognizing a threat, both memorable and not easily forgotten.
I know many will disagree, but then I see Roger as his older self.
As in he’s grown up and likes to joke about everything because he’s used to everything

@@NeonLightsYT1 yeah.... I respect your opinion but gonna have to, indeed, hard disagree.
To me Roger represents a flanderization of Sonic's character. he sounds old (on top of his Sonic Voice never sounding natural, instead being super nasal and forced. with it being particularly annoying in Lost World) but acts far more immature, while in Ryan and Jason's era Sonic mainly made jokes to annoy his enemies or banter with his friends, Roger's Sonic makes jokes to himself when there's no one around. he comes off as much more arrogant and dumb thanks to the terrible writing of the post-Colors games (which, granted, I know it's not Roger's fault, but I can't disassociate him from that writing because that's all he's ever been on, and No, I don't count Sonic Boom because that is a different version of the character.)

Gotta pick Jason Griffith here. He really done a very amazing job at voicing Sonic and honestly, he is the most fitting VA for the Blue Blur.

Jason just has so much emotion in his words. You can tell when Sonic is having fun, or angry, or worried. He's gotta be my favorite by far
Jason Griffith is by far my favorite. He captures Sonic's more human and emotional side while the other two show Sonic as strictly energetic, cocky, and youthful. Jason also shows Sonic to be a little smarter than the other two, but that could just be because of the games he is in.

*Ryan Drummond* without question. He captures Sonic energetic and youthful persona & he’s also the best english equivalent to Jun'ichi Kanemaru.
Just as well Ryan came back for Sonic and Tails R! No offense to Roger, but I really don't see hitting those lines in those rumored Adventure remakes that got canned, what with his obnoxious and arrogant tone he gives Sonic. However if given the choice with the games and anime, I'm more partial to Jun'ichi myself (as well as the Japanese cast as a whole).

Ryan Drummond will always be the definitive voice of Sonic to me. He just brought a certain level of youth, energy, and snark that the other Sonic voice actors haven’t been able to replicate.

I like both Jason Griffith and Ryan Drummond, they both fit very well for Sonic. But I like Jason Griffith a little more because he brings so much emotion and depth to Sonic. Also, he could sound goofy and serious, too. Even though he had a bad start, but he had improved a lot more than Roger's Sonic, to be honest. He finally got to his peak as Sonic in Unleashed and Black Knight. I like Ryan's voice for Sonic, but he doesn't give that sort of emotion and depth that Jason has, but he has a fitting voice and a cool attitude. But that only depends on the voice direction with these voice actors, because I know they can be better and they all don't deserve the hate they get for voicing Sonic just like Jason and Roger hate. Even though Roger doesn't fit with Sonic's voice at all. He is still an amazing voice actor and he tries to. But when it comes to game voice lines they all sound pretty good, but the issue is when they all talk in a cutscene, but there are some games they do better in than others.
I love Jason Griffith's voice actor of Sonic cause his voice acting for Sonic is amazing and it fits perfectly, I hope he will return in the future for the new Sonic games cause when he plays a bit of humour joke as Sonic in the game it cracks me up and puts a smile on my face.

I feel like a different version of Roger’s voice shoulda been used, more specifically maybe the voice lines from Forces shoulda been used

Personally, Jason feels like the best candidate for Sonic’s voice, since he’s canonically 16 I feel like it captures that while keeping the energy and attitude of sonic, roger comes second for me since when I listen to him it makes me feel like sonic is a lot older (I mean voice wise, the script he had in colors made him look like a 10 year old) tho stuff like the boom animated series showed that he is able to bring a lot of personality to the character. Ryan Drummond’s voice feels like it’s too young for the boost era but it fit adventure really well

Hearing Jason Griffith again gives me that burst of energy and nostalgia I need.
Jason Griffith with the direction of Ryan Drummond would be perfect. The closest we got to that were the storybook games. Unleashed he was a little quite.
Maybe a subtle way of being down, due to how he lost in the opening. He got cocky as Super Sonic, trapped by Eggman and painfully depowered, and the whole planet broke apart. He's gone through plenty of adversity before, but the game begins with him failing.
When I played this game, I like Jason's voice in this game. It truly tells u that sonic has grown a little bit

I would choose Jason Griffith as he was the Sonic voice I grew up. But I love also the other two voices
I"ve fantasized since Shadow the Hedgehog about Sega hiring all VO's, recording all lines with each, and giving us an option in the audio menu to choose who voices who.
I feel like Jason was the most sonic out of all of them, and it really made it seem like sonic was having a blast while doing his job.

Ryan’s voice was perfect for Sonic’s smart ass lines back in the day, like the one where he’s telling the special forces that held him captive on a helicopter “Talk about low budget flights. No food or movies? I’m outta here…I like running better.”
Jason, while good in representing Sonic as a hero, couldn’t really capture the snarkiness that Ryan could deliver.

My favorite has to be Roger. To me, he combines the best of both former voice actors into one package. But you know what? I love all the voice actors lol
Funny thing is that he can sound like them. There is this one grunt where he says "NOOOOO!" and you can hear Ryan in it. His "Gooo!" sounds like Ryan too. There are also that one grunt where Sonic deals the final blow at Nega Wisp Armor (Phase 2) in Sonic Colours.

Same! I really love Roger's version of Sonic, maybe it's just because I was a huge colors fan when I was a kid and his voice gives me a lot of nostalgia. But I love his version of sonic so much, it gives off this attitude vibe that the others didn't really radiate to me personally

I feel like Ryan captures the youthful and cool side of sonic, while Jason captures a more mature and serious side, that leaves Roger as the middle ground, and while he doesn't really excel as much in these extremes, his take seems more versatile, so I'm sticking with him(plus we didn't see him in a serious environment yet, only thing we got is frontiers trailer)

Jason Griffith is my favorite. The "here we go" just hits different. It feels like Sonic still has that enthusiasm and child-like nature, but he has matured some. I feel like this "older" sonic is just what we need to be seeing more of as the sonic franchise ages.

All of them did a phenomenal job imo.
Ryan was the best for the younger, energetic hero Sonic that we know from Heroes and SA1, Jason was the best for the more laid back Sonic from Unleashed and '06, and Roger is the best for the cockier Sonic from Colors and onwards. They all did perfect with what they were given.

Gotta be Drummond. I grew up playing Sonic Adventure and Adventure 2,so to me he just feels like the true Sonic. I think his slight gruffness and 90's speech makes Sonic feel the way he was originally designed to be - A laid back hedgehog who goes fast and has an attitude
I see a lot of people actually like roger, which is something I don’t see that much. I like roger as a va, but personally not for sonic, as he sounds like a 30 year old man trying to sound cool to his kids
But if you like him, that’s cool. I just personally don’t.
My favorite has to be Jason Griffith though, hands down
Yeah, that's kind of my point on Roger. I personally think he's PERFECT for Boom Sonic, since his dry delivery feels more like that of an older teen, say 17-18, but it just doesn't work for a larger than life, cocky yet optimistic character like main series Sonic, which is why I agree with you on Griffith being the best. He started off emulating Drummond, but by Unleashed he'd absolutely nailed his own thing, and I think he did an amazing job in Unleashed, Smash Bros, and Black Knight.

I grew up with roger
Ryan really captures the cocky rebelliousness of Sonic as a young teenager, Jason tends to be much more gentle and kind but when he gets serious, there’s a certain fire in his voice none of the others can quite match.
I like Ryan and Jason but I like Roger more, he almost fits Sonic in my ears like a glove
Jason is the best by far, with Ryan being a very close second. He can sound very cocky and confident, someone who knows they shouldn't be messed with, but at the same time can also be very genuine and heartfelt, or distressed and sad. He probably has the largest emotional range out of any of Sonic's in game English VAs.
Ryan is great too, but I think his voice sounds a bit forced. Everything he says is in that "cool guy" voice, and it's often louder than it needs to be. However, I think that problem is basically nonexistent in Sonic and Tails R, which if you don't know is an audio drama series made by Emi Jones, which features many official voice actors, including Ryan reprising his role as the blue blue, and there, he has nearly the same emotional range as Jason, and is very comparable, they both sound great.
I have to say Roger is my least favorite. Roger is an amazing voice actor, don't get me wrong, but certain VAs just don't fit certain characters. Roger's voice sounds too deep for a cocky teenager, and it's hardly any different from his regular speaking voice. He doesn't sound like a cocky, confident teenager who shouldn't be messed with, he sounds like the same teenager's dad who's trying way, WAY too hard to be "hip" and "cool". Many people blame this on the writing, which does definitely contribute to that, but even if if was given an incredible script, his voice just can't ever fit Sonic as much as the others, and no amount of good writing can change that.

@@ilay_ux Yeah, if anything I actually have more nostalgia for Roger than I do the others, since I grew up with games like Colors and Generations, but I don't want to let what I grew up with impact what I think of different aspects of the series.

Ryan is my favorite, I just love his contagious energy and enthusiastic voice, but I gotta admit he didn't showed much range or emotion in the games he was in but I guess that's fault of the writing, the only scenes I remember him sounding more serious was in the climax of SA2 and Heroes
Roger is nostalgic for me because I grew up playing Generations a ton of times, so I don't think his voice sounds as weird as many other fans do, but he sounds too old, sarcastic and arrogant to voice regular Sonic, but I think he is brilliant in Sonic Boom since his personality is everything how Roger sounds like
Look, don't @ me, but I don't like Jason as much as many fans do, I like him but maybe because he is the least I had a connection with, sounds weird and doofy, excepting The Black Knight, he sounds very inconsistent in other games to me, the iconic "You're too slow!" sounds high pitched, then "Sonic's the name, speed's my game!" sounds normal, then "Now I'm gonna show you... AAAAAAAAAAARGH!!!" sounds like it came out of Dragon Ball Z, it doesn't sound like the same character

I've always wanted to hear Jaleel white voice sonic in a game
They tried with generations but couldn't hire him because they no longer had huge budgets so they couldn't afford him. Now classic sonic is supposed to be silent in video games cause that makes sense

Gotta be honest, my favorite voice for Sonic of all-time? Definitely Jason, the games he voiced hold a special place in my heart.
1. Jason Griffith (Sonic Unleashed/06/Shadow the Hedgehog/Black Knight are flat out awesome)
2. Ryan Drummond (He did great for the time/show and games Ryan was in)
3. Roger Craig Smith (he’d be higher but the quality of the games he’s in + the abysmal scripts for those in the Sonic series are just very weak and don’t appeal to me)
Jason also had some poor quality games like the storybook games and Shadow 05, are we forgetting 06?

For me, I would pick Jason Grittith. I loved his voice as Sonic, and especially as Shadow. God I miss him... But Roger Craig Smith did an outstanding job as Sonic as well. I will also miss him too...

I like the Roger Craig Smith because it's from Sonic Colors and it fits perfectly for it! It would be great if they added the Voice changer in the pause menu.
Jason is my all time favorite. Roger is my nostalgia favorite. Ryan sounds like a whole lotta fun energy.
Jaleel White is iconic and amazing in the role. None other have even come close to his personality for Sonic.

I'll always have the soft spot in my heart from Ryan getting the attitude side down perfectly for me.
I wish there was a game where you could customize whichever Sonic voice you wanted into the game. Even if it was an HD remake, like of SA2. Or even a game where each Sonic voice is a different Sonic and they team up, like in Generations.
