      @cogboy302 5 месяцев назад +21

You could park outside my house for f*ck all. And I'd come out with a few beers and have a sit & a chat with you. It's a public street, and you are entitled to park where you like.
But I'm not anywhere coastal, although near a canal network with a lot of towpaths for walkers/bike riders, which are quite picturesque.

In France they have Aires that are parking areas. Some are free but most you have to pay for now, a mere 8 to 10€ per night. You can arrive and leave when you want. Some have marked pitches some don’t. You’re not allowed to sit outside on chairs or hang up washing but they do provide a ‘bourne’ that you pay a couple of euros to use. You can fill with fresh water, empty grey waste and on the other side you can empty your black waste. Bude Council could easily do this for the cost of putting in a road and pitches! At least Europe wants us 🙄

A step in the right direction, but being a British tourist destination they should be a little bit more aware of the fact that field is going to end up a muddy, flooded, unused failure. Shaun, love all your videos but this is up there with the best of them. Informative, an honest opinion approach and at no point lowering the standard by slagging off the council like most do
    My issues
    1) The 6m apart rule, funny how they bang on about this yet cars are allowed to park next to each other. I know it’s to do with certain things but most people carry spare fuel in their cars so don’t see the difference
    2) £21 with no facilities is absolutely shocking. I’ve parked up in the best campsite in North Wales on hard standing, EHU, piping hot showers for £14 for 24 hrs
    3) You are both correct, this has been set up to already fail.
You’ve both highlighted how easy it can be where you ended up parking and how much it cost. It was also highlighted how much it would of cost if you arrived just before, which also highlights it’s a money making racket by the council
There are people out there yes, who ruin it for others, but maybe the council top brass need to see your videos and how you respect the areas you visit and maybe it will change there mind on certain things and also make them realise their missing a trick because their making people with vans go elsewhere

    Great video as usual
Cornwall Council representatives, if you're reading this then the price is just too high, for context most c&c campsites and rustic style campsites are cheaper and inc 24hr stay and at least a w/c
I respect what the council are trialling but as you say its destined to fail at that price and off season will suffer.
When will these organisations work out that "vanning" has never been so popular and they need to embrace it and not push it away!
Many other European countries flourish because of their welcoming attitude towards it.

It seems the further south and west one gets in their van the harder is to park up for free or for a small fee…. must be I haven’t been to Cornwall for a long time mostly going to Devon when my son lives…. But there are a lot of restrictions there too, and I never come down from North Wales in my large van only long wheelbase minivan so I can hide up pretty much anywhere… one just doesn’t want to get the knock or a ticket for that matter.
But anyway, thank you for this review on camper parking in popular places .

We parked beachfront at Aberaeron - if your van is over 1.5t OR any size and converted for habitation (think that was the term) then you have to pay a set fee of £9 which covers you for up to 24hrs. No option for less - we only wanted 2 hrs. You could park anywhere though - it was all paved. No rules that I saw on space between vans. The marked spaces were tiny though. No facilities either.

It means the wind has turned the waves in to messy white water so not really surfable. I mean you could still surf the white waves but it’s just not as good

That's absolutely ridiculous! What a stupid idea. I don't think they are doing it as a 'set up to fail' though. I think they're just clueless about what's needed and what people will pay for a field with no facilities just for the night. With day parking added it's way more than you'd pay for a normal campsite with all the facilities and you can put out your chairs and awning. No one will use this. They needed to talk to who would be the main users before going ahead with a hair-brained scheme, but obviously didn't.

The rules are all very reasonable, I'd be perfectly happy with the distance between vans - further the better in fact, the £21 is too high, the grass is going to be problematic with folk getting stuck!

.i would rather pay £30 and have toilets and showers . £21 is reasonable . but it's not if it doesn't have toilet facilities. It's just a field ? Campervan owners want a cheap / safe / comfortable place to stay. if it was cheaper most campervan owners will use it . And it will soon get a good response around the campervan / motorhome community. add a toilets/ shower block and yes the £21a night is worth it . Still expensive but people would probably pay it

20 quid per night and not facility is completle mad, Tintagel has a nice care park with road and gras only where you park and only 5 quid over night plus that you can sit over day as well... why does Cornwall Council hate campers?? Cuz we bring them a lot of money in an area where there is nothing but beach and cold water....

How are the council going to enforce the camping laws on that field anyway? You know people are gonna take the piss and doing what they want, they won't employ security as its temporary and they won't install CCTV either. Plus they didn't inform anyone about the change of date, it sounds like a shambles tbh, like you said tho, need to give it a go

I think you’re missing the point. The council don’t want you to use it. That is why it’s £21 per night. There is no down side. 1) No parking, 2) Park and pay £21, 3) Camera and fine if you do not pay.
