It's a "comic book" death. Maybe an off camera coma, for the character, until next season. Or his wife steps up, and is a big part of next season. But I did wonder if this was a "Ned Stark" situation. Where some of the talent was just a single season pickup to help generate initial buzz. Or moved to 'flashback'/ dark passenger status later in the series. as a semi-recurring role.
Demi Moore's character has very much been in the background. Basically a cameo character, I think Monty is not dead but will be out of the picture for a while, coma or some other case where his absence will allow more spotlight of Demi's character and she will become more dynamic. They wouldn't have cast someone like Demi Moore for that role unless they had big plans for it and I think there's some dynamic with Monte's health or death that will help pave way for those planes... I don't think he's dead though, just temporary gone so decisions can be made by other characters leading up to his recover / return and more confrontation plot twist.
The rhythm displayed on his cardiac monitor was Ventricular Tachycardia when the alarms sounded. This can lead to cardiac arrest, but I would think the writers would show an Asystole rhythm (flatline) if they wanted to communicate his death.
i think he has only 1 kid. and its been said he's had 5 heart attack after awhile you as a kid your numb to it so you dont go.....or you youve been yelling at your dad to stop it the stressful job and he hasnt listen so your not gonna reward him with a vistit
I love the idea of Monty dying. It gives way for Cami to really step up and bring Rebecca into the fold. The idea of Monty being severely incapacitated and letting Rebecca and Tommy run the show is good too. Hmmmm...overall, I say the show would be better with Monty dead and Tommy and Rebecca running the show, as Co-President . The two of them fighting off a scrapy Cooper start-up for Season 2.
Maybe Monty went into a comma and is going to get a heart transplant. Tommy's reaction to Cami's call is his usual cool and calm demeanor under extreme stress.
@groverhateselmo I was thinking that!😧 What if Aynsley's boyfriend gets shot by the Cartel at the strip club and is declared brain dead!?🫣 Monty gets the heart....
He had a heart attack alone in the hospital. His own daughters snubbed him. His employees (other than Tommy) never liked him enough to stay with him. That’s sad…
I think it all comes down to Jon Hamm's availability. If he can't commit then I think Monty is dead otherwise I think he may just be in a coma or bedbound and will have a reduced role in season 2 so Demi Moore can take his position in the story. He has another show he is starring in that's been commissioned for a second season. Personally I think its a little early to kill him off since he hasn't had a lot of screentime in the show but then again we don't know how long Landman will go for. It could only be a 2-3 season series.
Almost all the series I've seen him in these last several years (Yellowstone is a good example), he does what they want him for then leaves the show with enough money to pay his bills for a year. 😊
Demi Moore didn't sign-up to this series for such a small part as she currently plays - with Monty either stepping back or dead she can now take on a greater role...
I might not be remembering correctly, but when Tommy was talking to Angela and explaining what had happened in his day, didn't he say he'd lost his best friend? If so, that could mean that Monty is dead. But, it's still a mystery to me. We have to wait for episode 10 to find out. I hate cliffhangers!
Tommy seemed pretty calm from Cami’s phone call. I’m certainly hoping Monty isn’t dead. If he hired Rebecca full time (knowing NOTHING about the oil business) Monty’s billions will be hemorrhaging out of their bank statements. She and Tommy are going to butt heads all the time. Internal strife in the company isn’t good. Besides, this is Season One. No Monty in Season Two will diminish the show. **I refuse to believe there will NOT be a Season Two!**
I don’t think the show pulled the wool over anyone’s eyes but yours. They left it a cliff hanger for the season finale. It was obvious they wanted to leave it ambiguous. There’s no way he’s dead. Not like that. Too obvious. Watch tv much?
Obviously he is going to die so Demi can take over as the strong woman boss that controls the men. This show is so woke and DEI it made me go watch The series Black Gold so I could see what really happened in the west Texas oilfields
This show is a winner- start with Billy Bob Thornton, add Jon Hamm, add in some choppers and mix in a drug cartel. What else do you need ? I have to admit, i FF thru the bimbo women scenes. They are annoying af and add nothing.
Naw he's dead. His wife will take over. Why else would a big star like Demi join the cast only to be relegated to swimming in pools and being the consummate housewife?
Do you think Monty survived the episode and will be in the Landman finale? Let me know your thoughts in the comments!

John Hamm and Billy Bob Thornton in any scene together is entirely too much talent in one frame. LOL
They deliver every time!
@@BrainPilot Slingblade is a good measuring stick of Billy Bob's talent...and that was almost 30 years ago.
*Don Draper and Bad Santa
so his kids dont even visit him dying in the hospital because he wasnt present enough? wow

Oh no what if he needs a heart transplant and gets one in episode 10 from the death of another character 😢

It really is!

Hopefully Sheridan handles Hamm better than he did Costner. Giant fail on Sheridan's part there. Costner was that series. Pay him!

What other show is Hamm starring in?
I think he died so Demi Moore can now step and play a bigger role.
That could be the case!
Exactly!

Jon Ham is in Landman season 2 according to IMDB.
I hope so!
Is this another TS series that gets one year and then nothing.
It's not Monty that died in episode 9. It was my interest in this show.
Monty back on our screens and Mike McCarthy back on the sidelines.
Yeah I watched your previous video and kept wondering how the hell i missed Monty’s death being obvious….
He probably died he went into ventricular tachycardia a precursor to asystole which is death
He either is in a coma or he died
Why didn’t he get a new heart. It’s not like he couldn’t find someone he could get to sell him one
I don’t think the show pulled the wool over anyone’s eyes but yours. They left it a cliff hanger for the season finale. It was obvious they wanted to leave it ambiguous. There’s no way he’s dead. Not like that. Too obvious. Watch tv much?
rude...great reviewer even if he got this wrong.
It was not his third bypass but his third heart attack.
I took it that he didn’t die he had some episode but I’m not sure died
im thinking comma maybe hoping because it would be a shock to kill him off.
It would be! And he's such a good character!
Whoa huge spoiler with the thumbnail and title dude🤦🏿♂️
Once u have 4 heart attacks it becomes too normal I wouldn’t have shown up either he’ll be aight😂😭
Except after having four heart attacks I only have 30% of a working heart left , I don’t fancy my odds having a fifth
@ hope you live long and prosper ❤️
I thought this was the Demi Moore show?
Title is a fat spoiler for some people
Nope!
You led us on previously. I'm out!
Duh

Somehow I didn’t realize that was Demi Moore - knowing that now, I think you’re right
@groverhateselmo then like my gawd damn comment
