As someone who does taxes I can tell you one of the reasons that disabled people are getting jobs or going back to work is that disability or SSI isn't keeping up with the cost of rent and food, then if they do have to go back to work to survive their benifits start getting reduced the amount they make at work. Its hard to watch, how is a 75 y/o going to survive off $26,000 a year when his rent is $1700+ in Washington state
As someone on disability themself, I don't even get HALF that, I get $908 a month, which means about 11k a year. I'm in my 30s and having to live with my mother and still barely scrape by, because of how bad they pay. The 3% increase to my income at the beginning of this year was a slap to the face, inflation overall is up over 100% since 5 years ago, my income has increased a total of 10%. I could probably manage to live on 26k a year with a decent working roomie/be more comfortable here with my mother, but 11k isn't even enough for a studio apartment's rent alone. Forget necessities like food, electricity, water, internet (debatable if that's a necessity, getting pretty much required these days for anything though). Something needs to change, it's sickening that in this day and age, anyone who happened to be born with issues preventing them from working, is just left to rot.
As a disabled person, this was my immediate thought at seeing those stats. I don’t get SSDI, but lots of my disabled friends do and they are having to choose between working under the table (and risk getting caught and losing their benefits) and working part time but making less money. And often it results in them pushing themselves to the limit physically and they end up not being able to do things like keep up with housework, cook for themselves, and/or sufficiently keep up with hygiene because they’re so exhausted and in so much pain from having to work. But they don’t have a choice because SSDI isn’t even close to enough to survive on. And it really sucks because if you do end up working because you have to, people start treating you with this attitude and either implying or outright accusing you of lying about the severity of your disability because “obviously you _can_ work”. When they can’t see that working means being in constant severe pain and your whole life falling apart.
As a disabled adult myself, I feel like the rise of disability employment is due to the fact that it doesn't cover the massive increase in cost of living. I have a pet sitting job on the side and barely make ends meet
Was about to comment this myself. I live in Australia and we're meant to have a great disability support system here (And I don't mean to sound ungrateful bc I'm lucky to be here and on it) but I can't even move out in a studio apartment OR move in with my partner of 8 years without losing the majority of my support. I would love to know the stats on for the disabled people working, what percentage of those are losing a significant quality of life because they have no choice.
The fact the Willy Wonka experience from Glasgow made it onto Philip Defranco makes me SO happy LOL! Its probably the biggest meme to come out of my country in the last decade LOL
Right! Although having Scotland be in the spotlight for a stupid reason make me happy but also very very embarrassed, tho I do like the memes coming from them
I'd seen some weird thumbnails pop on yt and caught a couple of memes flying around but when Philly D said "in Glasgow..." my response was "wait, what now?! Oh god, this is going to be pitifully bad" 😂
Zach Sang is literally a personal friend of Ariana’s. That interview was so clearly a friendly interview with all softball questions meant to make Ari look as good as possible.
Thanks so much for mentioning the Diddy situation and its reaction. All I could think about seeing it unfold online was how many people are brushing over claims of abuse, harassment, and exploitation of minors to instead save their anger, disappointment, and judgement for the fact that these people might be gay. Like, THAT’S what we’re mad at them about?
Akademiks covered the first stuff you mentioned for like 2 weeks, it was MASSIVE news. And it was the victim who chose to not push further. You just talk to hear yourself speak
It sounds like serious BS to me. I'll believe it when I see the tapes. Till then I'm not going to take the word of some random person I know nothing about.
@@briano9397 There wasn't just one victim, there were several (including Rodney Jones) and those victims are very much still pursuing their lawsuits. Please get your facts straight.
With the Ariana Grande story, I think it can be both. I think you can talk about how the media dehumanizes celebrities while also addressing how Ariana Grande is a homewrecker. The thing that gets me is how she brags about it in her songs. You can't have it both ways.
The wild thing about the "Willy's chocolate experience" thing is that we already have a similar attraction in the UK called Cadbury world in Birmingham! I loved it as a kid and it was like if Willy wonka decided to focus on the history of chocolate and how it's made. I also remember that you'd get a huge bag of chocolate that took me ages to finish! It may be different now as I was a kid when I went but that place was very much like I was in Wonka's factory.
A comedian streamer I watch knows the actor hired to play Wonka. He was given a jibberish script (probably AI written) a few days before and told to 'do whatever'. The organiser Coull is a grifter conman who has a history of straight up lying about events he's put on and dodgy promotions.
I live near Hershey PA. If you ever do any holiday travelling I recommend putting Hershey PA at Christmas on your list. I'd love to visit the UK and check out Cadbury world!
I think that as part of the disability/employment conversation it should also be acknowledged that there are disabled people who are forced into the workforce by the cost of living. There are people who are having to cause themselves extra pain, worsening disabilities etc because they have to work or starve.
This is very true. I was on SSI and only got $900 a month. When I ran away from my mom, at 22 I was forced to get a job. I live in Socal and $900 isn't even enough for one month's rent, let alone, food, necessities, my pets care, etc. So I got my first job and despite the fact that I called and canceled my SSI, they sent three months worth and wanted to say I owed them 3k from those three months and some other month from years earlier, when I didn't work. I ignored them and haven't heard much since, just seemes like a scam they got caught in and in trouble for doing during covid. I even told them, I did inform you guys, what you did or doesn't do with that info is out of my hands
I remember seeing a tumblr post once that said something to the effect: When people with power say, If you don't respect me then I won't respect you, what they actually mean is, if you don't treat me as an authority figure then I won't treat you as a person. I feel like that is exactly what is going on with the mexican president and NYT reporter.
I believe a lot of the criticism with Ariana is because of SpongeBob’s wife commenting on the matter. The wife characterizing her family as “collateral damage” and Ariana as “not a girl’s girl” really humanized the wife and newborn baby. After that, it was easy for people to recognize what appears to be a pattern with Ariana getting together with people who are already in relationships (and also finding lyrics in her songs that indicate she pursues people in relationships). Ariana is getting upset for what seems to be justified criticism. All of the commentary I’ve seen have criticized both Ariana and SpongeBob, but Ariana has gotten the spotlight because she is wildly more famous than SpongeBob. Her song “Yes And” just added fuel to the fire, with Ariana seemingly make it clear that she has no remorse for the damage and pain she’s caused. In this interview she makes it sound like she is the victim of unjustified hate, rather than justified criticism. I think most people see Ariana’s husband and SpongeBob’s wife and baby as the victims, not Ariana.

The images for the Wonka event were 100% AI generated; the "Imagination Lab" was spelled "Imagnation" and the bottom of the Twilight Tunnel picture boasted "Vivue Sounds", "Dippractions" and "Dodjections". It was hilariously bad
The company even stated the spelling was intentional / part of their marketing. (In their words) 'Hey, thanks for noticing the deliberate errors in our marketing materials. Did you that according to a researcher (sic) at Cambridge University, it doesn't matter in what order the letters in a word are, the only important thing is that first and last letter are in the right place'.
As a resident of Arizona, we already have laws in place to be able to protect ourselves when we are in immediate life threatening danger. Proposing a law to allow one to kill for the crime of trsspassing IS to far regardless of the justification. Imagine you are driving and make a wrong turn, now you get to die because some guy is scared of your mere presence? that is an absolutely insane idea.
@SumeriyaYaxlaka It happens occasionally that in the USA delivery drivers are shot when they try to deliver packages. Either because they accidentally got the wrong address or when at the right address because the person didn't expect a package. Afaik most delivery drivers that are shot like this are shot through the closed door when they ring the door bell, but some are also shot while they're driving up the driveway.
@@insu_naI got in the habit of messaging or calling my deliveries through my work app letting them know I was x amount of time away with their package because of stuff like this
There was a story some drunk(i think) ppl in middle of the night(so low visibilty) in an unknown area to them took a wrong turn and when they realised they got lost they turned around and some idiot shot started shooting at the car (while its driving AWAY and off the property) and i think woman got shot in the back and killed
i agree its a bad law but it's also bad that a guy who only shot someone because they stood outside his home making threats to kill him is getting charged with murder.
One overlooked issue with the AZ proposed bill is that many farms utilize unregistered immigrants. That law could allow those who employ unregistered immigrants to threaten people under the guise of trespassing if they don't get what they want. Law enforcement knows and understands that immigrants are a HUGE part of labor for those sorts of jobs. This honestly sounds like something a representative blurted out while they were drunk and they decided to draft it. Either that or political theater at its dumbest.
True but there's a bigger issue since they are undocumented they can't apply things like unions from what I've heard they get paid about two dollars and hour to work in farms in California and AZ hiring Americans would be two expensive since they are entitled to fair wagw
I think it's amusing when some Americans are like "Mexicans go home!!" and I'm like, ok Robert, who's going to pick the tomatoes on that farm? You? For $2 a day? Doubt it. Everyone deserves a chance at a better life. Leave them be. Pay them better wages.
A Different Angle - I was an IcU nurse during the pandemic and now I’m a home infusion nurse. I go to people’s homes and give them IV drugs. The work from home movement is SUPER helpful for me as someone who CANT work from home. I live in a major US city and I noticed a major traffic drop off when WFH started. I’m able to get to my patients quicker, even now as those opportunities are lessening - compared to before. Work from home helps EVERYONE in a major metropolitan area. I think more companies need to be embracing it instead of trying to salvage their shitty corporate real estate investing.
I have autism and ADHD. The WFH movement was heaven sent. Being able to avoid traffic, control the temp, light, and noise in my environment has made me happier and more productive.
Going to piggyback on this great comment! WFH has been great! As part of the neurodivergence gang, I do want to offer another viewpoint tho. While it's clear that remote work has allowed people typically unable to work the ability to do so. These statistics aren't always positive. A great example is the rise of living costs outpacing disability aid and local assistance, so there can be a correlation between an increase in working disabled being more of a forced survival response rather than just a net good thing. I've had some friends who really shouldn't be working for their own health, but have to because things are so tight right now. You also have fears that the reds will tank SS and Disability, food stamps, ect. After this election cycle, so there are plenty of people, myself included, trying to figure out a sustainable way to work while we aren't going cray with stress when our safety nets are taken away or lessened.

I remember retorting that teacher a new one saying “it is since it’s an disorder you don’t have to be insensitive I’m not doing it on purpose and I’m trying my best. “ I had to explain it to her how terrible I felt after hearing it. The worst part she still thought I was lazy. Had no motivation to do anything after that.
Another reason to not be too happy about the disabled unemployment rate as it is presented is that it may also signify that people who should not be working are forced to work because aid is either no longer avialable or sufficient. It is like seeing employment rate of people 60+ go up. On the one hand, good for those people who were laid down just before they could get their last years before retiring, but the reality is that many elderly people can no longer afford to simply live out of their pension.
Pensions were a bad idea and are unsustainable unless you are in an infinite baby boom which would destroy the earth anyway social security is welfare but it’s a good welfare program and a deserved one It’s welfare because every single person even the rich get more paid out then they put in after 3-7 years depending on their income level One solution would be to end the ssi tax cap Today we only ssi tax people on the first 168k they make a year
As a disabled individual who recently started receiving ssdi I can confirm this is the case for many of my peers and I am now faced with the reality that I may need to find a job I am unable to perform properly. The benefits were enough to live on at one point but most have had to get part time jobs which they should not be performing just to survive, leading to increase in stress, anxiety, severe depression, anger and potentially significant injury through exacerbation of symptoms. These benefits (ssdi) are not enough to sustain a disabled person who should not be working leading them to get jobs which not only puts the disabled person at risk, but depending on the job may put many others at risk as well. This entire system is unsustainable. We cannot take care of our most vulnerable, are you fucking kidding me? With our allegedly "excellent" economy? What an absolute embarrassment. Before you tell me to leave the country if I hate it so much, I'd absolutely love to, but my disability and lack of income prevents me from doing that. That's the reality for many of my peers as well.
Hey Phil. Glad you liked my Oops All Rats joke. Took 20 years but I finally made that theater degree pay off with a joke landing. Thanks to you and your team for all your hard work and for you helping to inspire me to lose 100 pounds!
A third reason that the employment rate for disabled people is rising: the cost of living crisis. For those who don't know, if a disabled person makes above x amount, their disability benefits are taken away. If a disabled person gets married, their disability benefits are taken away. If a disabled person OWNS POSSESSIONS WHERE THE WORTH TOTALS OVER X AMOUNT, THEIR DISABILITY BENEFITS ARE TAKEN AWAY. Why are more disabled people working? Because they've done the math and decided that they can survive better on a very low wage as opposed to benefits. Legally, disabled people can be paid LESS THAN MINIMUM WAGE in certain places, so these people might not even be making minimum wage and it's STILL MORE than disability benefits.
Yup. I'm unable to work, and my husband has to help me bathe. But sometimes he has to go to bed as soon as he comes home because he has to get up early for work in the morning because he has two twleve hour days a week, so I honestly don't get to see him much, and can't bathe as much as I need to. But he makes too much money for me to get on disabilty, even though we can't afford to have someone help take care of me, and we've had to borrow money from an out of state reletive to make sure we have enough to eat.
I think he was my favourite part. Like, I hate that it happened it those kids, but if this has to be a thing, it was nice to have that dude "play Willy Wonka"
As a disabled person I'd like to contribute my perspective, I'm personally in a situation where the cost of living has gone up so much that I've had to start looking for work out of necessity. I don't really celebrate the idea of having to go back to work and I worry that it'll ruin so much of the progress that I've made with learning to live with my disability, as well as a new struggle of no longer having any medication coverage from social assistance. Unfortunately the lack of support and difficulty accessing that support is a big factor for me, and I'm sure many others, in having to return to work as well.
About Ariana Grande. It's both. She happened to make a valid statement about how the media treats women, I think that statement is true for certain men too. BUT I don't think that absolves her if, in fact, the timelines were crossed with her and sponge bob man.(which I think there was imo)
I'm with you. I hate when people only bring attention to issues to get out of hot water, themselves. It's so disingenuous that no matter how good her point is, it feels fake.
"Offer discounts during the slower parts of the day" is just surge pricing said differently... Up all the prices across the board, lower some of them sometimes during the day, that's basically the same effect as raising prices during busy hours.
Yep. CEOs are so out of touch, they can't fathom that people will notice when things blatantly change. As if this hasn't been done in other industries.
@@Koseishi It does work in some scenarios, like in MMO's, they used to have fatigue systems that made you get less experience the more you played. Players hated that, so now they have a Rest system that builds up increased exp gain when you're not playing. Much more easily accepted. However, people notice more when it comes to their wallet.
lmaooo bless that Willy Wonka actor, what an absolute gem. The humility it must take to realize you will never be a Wonka, only an Oompa Loopa is crazy 😭😭
Lol at the rebound to "dynamic discount". We're not stupid, they're gonna raise prices across the board and dynamically change it to the original price during slower periods. It's the same outcome but worded with more corporate misleading.
This is literally a comment I made on reddit yesterday/day before. They fucked up by phrasing it as a surge increase. They really needed to take a PR hit by raising prices across the board and then doing exactly what you said, lower the prices on off peak. They would've gotten the same aggression and outrage as they did with surge pricing, but then those not paying attention would instantly fall for the off peak "discount" and the PR goes back up
As a person who just became disabled and terminally ill, we are just starting the process of getting on disability and they make it impossible! So many hoops to jump through, even as a state employee (elementary school teacher) By the time my disability goes through I could already be gone.
The hoops are awful enough but usually when you're applying, you're having the worst time of your life. You're potentially in pain, dying, searching for doctors who can help make you more comfortable, worried about how to survive without enough money and then they want you to also find a lawyer and fill out all this excessive paperwork. And then you have to hope your doctor took good notes, because if you find out they didn't, you'll be denied and have to do it all again. (Currently doing that on behalf of my blind father.)
In regards to the story about AZ allowing people to shoot to kill just for going onto property, that's terrifying. In middle school I walked to and from school and used a shirt cut through the woods to cut two miles off my trek. The short cut required a brief stint of going onto someone's driveway. One day a guy came out of the house with a gun and started shooting at me. I wad 14. I was very clearly a child. I had a pink backpack and was in jeans and a hoodie. I ran faster than I've ever run in my life, dodging bullets and ducking behind trees before making my way through the hole in the fence to my neighbourhood. If some nut job was willing to fire at a kid in broad daylight who was literally just trying to get home (14 years ago), I can only imagine the damage this is going to cause if approved.
You'd think they would remember the girl who was killed turning around in someone's driveway before signing a law like this. America is becoming more third world everyday. And in Arizona of all places 😫

Former AZ AGO employee here: A LARGE part of my job was both teaching human trafficking education and taking constituent calls. I remember the rancher case vividly because I was on phone duty when the news dropped and received the most death threats on that day despite the fact that Santa Cruz County Attorney was to handle that case and cases like that are very rarely handled at the state level. Things to note about that case. 1. The migrant was unarmed. 2. There was speculation that the migrant and the rancher had known each other and 3. The rancher knew full well the migrant was unarmed. I don’t know much farther than that cause as I stated, my office wasn’t to handle that case BUT on the human trafficking argument the republicans are shoe horning in there it’s bs and they know it. Yes, Arizona last I checked was 12th in the nation for trafficking HOWEVER a larger majority of our trafficking happens to AZ residents by AZ residents and very rarely has anything to do with the traffickers being non us citizens. They are solely using this Human Trafficker argument to push their racist propaganda and demonizing Mexicans. Shocker to no one I’m sure. Since my departure from the office my old department had radically changed but I have all our old presentations and resources updated as of January this year so if anyone is interested in learning more about trafficking in AZ I am happy to supply the resources.
That whole situation is wrong on so many levels..forgetting the blatant racism how many people mistake private land for public (BLM, forest service, etc) land? I am a quadriplegic after a severe diving accident back in 2019. Covid, despite being at an increased risk factor and having to be extra careful around it, was a huge blessing for me. I don’t have reliable transportation and medical conditions that would make it very hard for me to reliably work in an office. Working from home has allowed me to get back to a full-time job and even find new employment post a lay-off that was still work from home. (A huge fear for me after being laid off)
That Arizona law also sets a horrid president for Hikers and Backpackers subjecting them to potential extreme danger walking the Arizona National Scenic Trail which spans 800 miles from the Mexico Border to the Utah State Border. That trail passes through multiple ranch lands and hikers often have to veer off the trail to collect drinking water from large basins placed by cattle ranchers. This could possibly put hundreds of U.S. Citizens and Foreign backpackers in danger just because they want to fill their canteens and water bottles.

I am a disabled veteran currently working on a capstone project for my degree addressing the number of applications I put in marking disabled, and not marking it. So far I have received zero calls back using identical applications and resumes. With the only variable being whether or not I have marked the voluntary disability form. So far there seems to be serious discrimination based on whether or not that box is checked. I still have a while left on the project, but the results so far are aggressively showing that marking that box disqualifies you from jobs... I am nearing 200 applications with that box and no calls, with the same amount not marking it. The call back rate without marking the box has been about 30% and 0% with it marked.. It has been disheartening, but eye opening.
Let me tell you about someone who's been disabled my entire life if you check the voluntary disability box you don't get the job. Unless the company explicitly states it's trying to hire disabled people to fill a quota checking that box means you don't get the job.

And yes, I'm saying that this is probably happened even in the last year. In Arkansas. What the way the laws were and it can only go up with the way they want to change them
Combs is absolutely disgusting. How can we continue to see and hear these allegations, as well as payouts to some, that we can just ignore it? An actual investigation needs to be conducted, UNDERAGE GIRLS? REALLY?
The "shoot a stranger on my lawn" story does my absolute head in. I'm not American so I have no skin in the game and can look at this without the emotions of being part of it, and it's just absolutely wild. Imagine having the thought pattern of "stranger walks into my yard, I should be allowed to kill them". Like how the hell does someone get to that point? The logic just makes 0 sense and will inevitably just mean more dead people for something so absolutely minor. Makes me glad to live in a country where guns in homes aren't a thing.
ESPECIALLY considering the fact that a lot of ranches butt up to public lands. I am so lucky to have grown up with public BLM land in my backyard but it is so easy to accidentally end up on private ranch land and not even realize it out here. In my experience a lot of these ranchers are generally unfriendly to start with…I can’t imagine them also feeling like they can shoot trespassers without any repercussions.
Tbh, depending on where you are in the US. This is already a thing, and people just have signs that state, "Intruders will be shot." Like I used to see a lot of them normally when i was younger, I just thought it was common place, I mean, in old movies of the US, like some western or movies based a bit in the south. People would just get chased off land by a guy with a rife or shotgun. But that makes sense that a lot of people have a "beware of dog" signs now, and I rarely see the "Intruders will be shot" signs nowadays, if it wasn't as common place as I thought.
I'm just a nobody american, so huge grain of salt. I feel this is what happens when phobic assholes feel the can weaponize their collective political party, because their respective political party weaponized them. It's fucking disgusting what people do because of politics, probably not U.S. exclusive but it's where I live so regional bias.
In my country (sweden) its legal to sleep over on private property for one night (in the same place, if they have big land you can move to another place on the land and sleep over another night). The law that enabled this is called "allemansrätten" roughly translated to "all peoples rights", which is supposed to convey that our nature is for everyone. Yes, even non-citizens have this right in our country.
In regard to the AZ Bill, I live in rural eastern Oregon. We have TONS of BLM land mixed in with privately owned ranch land. You can EASILY accidentally end up on private land. IMO a lot of people who own acres and acres of ranch land ALREADY don’t play well with others. I think the last thing we need is these same people feeling like they’re justified to shoot someone for unknowingly ending up on private property. Just last summer a friend and I took a side by side out on private property that was owned by a friend. We accidentally crossed over onto someone else’s private land and didn’t have a clue. We turned around as soon as we noticed, but that could have gone incredibly bad had the land owner noticed/cared and thought they were justified to shoot us for something that was an honest mistake. It’s just disgusting to think there are people out there that see other human beings as nothing more than a raccoon that’s tipping your garbage can over every night and needs shot.
As a hardcore gun guy that Arizona bill is utterly ridiculous there is a very defined very visible line between murder and self-defense this crosses the line so far I can't see it anymore

Players didn't like this feature because they felt like they were being punished for playing the game a lot. This feature was removed and replaced with the "Rested EXP" feature that's found in basically every MMO where if you log out from an inn or town you'll get extra experience for a little bit the next time you log in. It's the exact same feature but with a different spin on it... The EXACT SAME SPIN the Wendy's CEO is trying to pull here by saying they'd discount prices outside of rushes.

My dislike for her is about 97% blackphishing, 2.5% cheating stuff, and 0.5% overrated and mid music.

You talking about the rain Phil try being in Michigan it was 72° sunny yesterday and then today I woke up to a snow storm 15° and a tornado spotting and power outages I live in a crazy state where you need boots, flip flops, shorts, snow pants, etc all in 1 day 😂 I love your show keeping being you Phil!!

As a disabled person, I have a third perspective on the increase in people that are disabled in the workforce, increasing. In addition to COVID being a mass disabling event and access to remote work increasing accessibility of work places, being able to work remotely, I have access to an employee resource group (ERG) for disabilities and I had the flexibility to go see medical professionals and get an official diagnosis. Both of these were factors for me, being comfortable identifying as a disabled person😊, even though I have been my whole life.
I was a previously a led worker who became disabled and know many who are. This coupled with working from home has saved us. It allows us to keep our jobs despite everyone hating us being employed.
It takes two to tango. I could care less about Ariana Grande's life but it bothers me that everyone is forgetting that the guy is responsible for cheating on his wife and child. The 'homewrecker' label is incredibly outdated and needs to be removed from the lexicon.
Regarding the Willy Wonka-themed Fyre Festival story, I'm watching reaction videos about it on TikTok, but one consistent information on the Chrome-Faced Cryptid is that it was called "The Unknown" and, as it was confirmed that AI wrote the plotline for the event, it was "an evil chocolate maker hiding in the walls" and the villain of the storyline. Apparently, I forgot that this was in the original book.
I'd love to tell the event organizers that just because AI shat out some "art" and a script, it won't magically make your idea into an actual quality experience if you don't at least have the funds to pull it off
The thing about the Nintendo lawsuit, is that the legal precedent not only protects the first amendment, it also regards emulators as a legitimate competitor to platforms. Nintendo (as well as Sony, Microsoft, and other console companies) hate this precedent and have spent years trying to spread misinformation that emulators themselves are illegal.
I live in Glasgow and I find this story hilarious, I can’t believe it’s gone global and Philly D is talking about it!! 😂 It looked grim to be fair, hope they get their money back and the actors get paid. I just can’t help but find every pic of this story and kind of wish I was there to see this mess. I know where the venue is- it’s a cool space for gigs/markets but not for a ‘chocolate wonderland’ unless you have the budget to fill it. The no chocolate 1 jelly bean thing is just the peak of the story
I wasn't even 30 when I got hit with long covid. Had to move back with my mom and rely on delivery driving to survive because it was the only job I could find where I could start working when I had the energy and stop when I didn't. I previously had a call center job, which is minimal physical activity, but long haul covid also hits your mental just as hard. I struggled to even finish sentences when it was at its worst, and I am exhausted for days when I try to push myself. I was at the beginning of a new career after being laid off during the lockdown and hadn't qualified for health insurance yet. Now I have no money to see a doctor, much less fight to receive any sort of disability insurance. It's hell.
Loved the "thank u, next" reference :D My only thought about the Ariana Grande situation is that relationships are messy. Whyyyyy do people think they have any business judging someone about when and how they have feelings for another person. We don't know if they were unhappy, happy, separated, monogamous, poly, had arrangements, or just fell in love, and I am saying this about everyone and anyone, not just Grande. Trying to figure out when someone got divorced and whether or not they cheated just... people have so much free time :/
I think people care less about the relationship and more about the baby that was just made. Why create a child if unhappy in your relationship unless it was unintentional, which is hard to believe because they have been together for so long before the movie was filmed. But who knows, just another broken family in the end. 🤷🏽♀️
Im a disabled worker. My issues predate covid and my concern was finding decent work. I used to do a lot of manual labor but could not go back to that after everything was said and done as i cant really move about like i used to. At the time I though i was lucky since my WFH job found me, but it turns out covid would make it the standard a few months later. IM SUPER HAPPY that jobs like this are avaliable as trying to get disability from the government is a nightmare. I ended up being out of work for like 7 months lost my car, credit got tanked the whole shabang.
The story regarding the Michigan protest vote leaves me a bit stumped if consequences are extrapolated beyond the primaries. My limited understanding is that Donald Trump has historically been keen to support Netanyahu and legitimize his grabs for power within the Israeli government. While I haven’t seen any official position stated, I find it hard to envision a reality in which Trump actively calls for a cease-fire against the will of the Israeli government. People protesting Biden’s stance by choosing to vote uncommitted or for Trump as an alternative in the general election would seemingly be reinforcing the very pro-conflict viewpoint they’re aiming to protest. I understand the protest in the primaries as a means of demonstration and hope Biden takes this as a call to action. But an entire demographic protesting with “uncommitted” votes during the actual presidential election feels a lot like playing with fire.
I can never trust someone who says stuff like "I don't want to go into detail"(Ariannas quote) or "o don't have to explain myself". There are 3 reasons why you should explain yourself if you have an explanation in situations like this. #1 for yourself to know you gave everything to solve the situation you are in. #2 to know who is worthy of supporting you. #3 because it might actually SOLVE YOUR ISSUE! She clearly hates what's happening to her right now. And saying she doesn't want to go into detail implies that she has details to explain but chooses not to. So I believe she actually has nothing and that her and that other dude cheated. Also I hope the other dude is also getting hate because if not that is unfair. It takes two to cheat people!
People usually blame the woman for some reason. As for ariana not going into specifics, could be personal or legal. Personal can mean that it would reveal certain details, that could harm or make it easier for people that want to do her harm.
As a disabled person Covid and remote work changed everything. I was finally able to work, even if my legs don't. Most opportunities for online work previously were often freelance work which severely underpaid people per project. Once work went remote, I was able to secure a job where I was respected, well paid, and was able to use my skills to do fulfilling work.
I do think that Grande is probably right. We do have a selective way that we like to treat celebs with tabloid rumors (true or not) based on if we like/dislike them already OR the story itself hits close to home. Cheating is a huge fear for a lot of people and it’s a thing that has made many people’s lives miserable. So, people get very emotionally invested in those particular stories because they feel vindicated, betrayed, or defensive towards a celebrity they have strong feelings about in either direction. It’s one of the more raw and gutting things that can happen in a relationship. So with that background, people will be quicker to big emotional responses because it is one of the most significant and emotionally trying things that a lot of people actually have had some exposure to (whether personally, through family and friends, etc) so they feel super opinionated on the subject. It is hard to imagine being ridiculed like that on a scale this big. Being called a cheater is a pretty damning statement and causes lots of people to have an opinion about you real quick. However, I am truly trying to look at this from as neutral of a perspective as I can without a lot of nitty gritty knowledge on the relationships at play. All THAT being said though, we don’t know what we don’t know and we probably never will know all the details so it’s probably no use spinning out to much about it.
Ariana really said, how can you have empathy for the people close to you but not me? That doesn’t make sense. Girl you’re rich, it’s the nature of fame. Although this situation isn’t a poster child for the detriments of fame.
Having epilepsy, I have problems daily while working. But, I have to work because if I don't - disability wont even pay for my bills. So I was given an option, be essentially homeless or be forced to work fulltime. I could easily see that it could be an amazing thing to see the disability rate go up, but we have too take in consideration how many of those are disabled people forced to work. Not that they can safely.
They should give you disability pay and if you want to work or not should be up to you and shouldn’t effect your pay Let’s be realistic here, disabled people may be able to work technically but they have no chance at getting a high paying job or performing at the top no matter how hard they try Down syndrome already get their full payments even if they work full time, other disabilities deserve the same courtesy You for example can’t go be a welder even though it’s one of the easiest ways to make 100k a year
The wonderland bait and switch has been done many times before. We had one in Australia a while back, it was sold as a Winter Wonderland (Christmas is summer for us) but when people arrived, it was a hall full of room dividers and a very small amount of artificial snow in some play pools.
TY for putting up clips of people going over Diddy's new lawsuit; they gave me the case number for PACER so I went and looked at it. The first thing I notice is it's been called a deficient pleading already; the attorneys submitting the complaint are being told by the court that both the civil cover sheet and the pleading itself have been submitted incorrectly. There's a whole process they have to go through, and if it's not corrected by March 4 the court will administratively close the case. [I have a pet peeve about attorneys who can't do the bare minimum of their job.] Other than that: the pleading itself contains an awful lot of...circumstantial evidence that really doesn't look great for Diddy at all. The evidence submitted is mostly screenshots & redacted photos, some of them news articles that could have been attached in full as an exhibit to the complaint; none of them are a smoking gun, but quite a few of them are substantial in establishing the claim. Some of the more conspiracy-minded claims have less evidence to go along with them, and use inflammatory language more appropriate for a press interview, but when taken with the whole of the rest of the claim/evidence, the accusations being made are not a stretch by any imagination. This claim has more than enough basis to go to trial. Add this to his other accusations, all of which line up with this one, and the pattern is pretty undeniable.
As a person on SSI DIS because I wasn't able to work long enough for the credits to get SSDI; one of the major reasons more disabled people are in the workforce, particularly part time, is because of the strict rules surrounding allowed work, versus the immense poverty rate and housing crisis. I personally receive the federal maximum SSI, and I still could never feasibly afford to live by myself ANYWHERE in this country. It is not a sign of economic growth so much as a sign of how impossible it is to survive as a disabled person without exerting yourself beyond your means on a regular basis, or living as minimally as possible and with roommates. Getting married on SSI and SSDI is also impractical because of the rules and guidelines surrounding it. I'd definitely encourage you to look more at the disparity between employed disabled people, and the KINDS of disability and background they have. Being low income in my childhood, and then a disabled adult has left me very few good prospects in life without pushing myself to my bounds on a daily basis.
Regarding the disability report. It could also be because the amount you get on disability is so low, you have to work just to put food on your table. I’m Canadian and this is exactly my experience.
That’s hilarious, my bf actually took a PTO day for Final Fantasy today. So he’s been up all night and I got to wake up at 4 AM to coffee, lunch packed and my car started before I left for work :)
Honestly on the disability story. A lot of workplaces aren’t following disability guidelines even though we are a legally protected call. WFH showcase’s that they were capable but chose not to. Keeping a lot of disabled workers out of the workforce. I myself lost my job because I had a stroke. They refused to accommodate.
Not WFH yet but I have done WFH and am expected to again soon. I have severe OCD (real, diagnosed with OCD) that makes it difficult to be on time for work, several times a week I need to work through panic attacks due to triggers, I've had break downs to the point of self harm and certain intrusive thoughts, and my quality of life has been so bad my doctors have tried to push me toward disability. I have raw and bleeding hands from overwashing. There are days I won't eat or drink for my entire 8 hour shift because something touched me the wrong way, and there have been times I've refused to use the bathroom for whole shifts due to blood not being cleaned up for days. Our office isn't cleaned regularly. I want to work, and WFH means I can more comfortably work without outside triggers. I can eat and drink regularly, habe regular bathroom breaks, and have the ability to focus on work instead of OCD.
My take on the Ariana being a homewrecker thing is - She’s a homewrecker period. She’s so proud on making music talking about it but then question people like me who give her this title like “where’s the humanity?” Like what? You want us to give you the same humanity you should have given to Ethan’s wife who was pregnant with the baby you held before breaking up their marriage? Doesn’t make sense. We should call out disgusting behavior regardless of gender/sex. I remember when Adam Levine cheating story came out, I still feel the same way about him as I do with Arianna.
The Ariana thing is crazy to me because how do you have songs like "break up with your girlfriend, i’m bored" and a history of getting into relationships with freshly singles and not expect people make the connection.
It's worse in US territories. We don't even get SSI.
The actors should take these 15 seconds of fame and run lol
Right! Although having Scotland be in the spotlight for a stupid reason make me happy but also very very embarrassed, tho I do like the memes coming from them
How big is it in the Uk?
I'd seen some weird thumbnails pop on yt and caught a couple of memes flying around but when Philly D said "in Glasgow..." my response was "wait, what now?! Oh god, this is going to be pitifully bad" 😂
Name checks out
Zach Sang is literally a personal friend of Ariana’s.

That entire Wonka experience just screamed ‘Fyre Festival’ to me.
I am getting Dashcon flashbacks. Just needed a ball pit.
I got second hand embarrassment just listening to the story...
And those AI posters? Huge red flag. Massive.
But with a dash of predatory weird behavior. Jumping out and terrifying children ? Odd.
Yea, the fact that the ads were all AI generated with not one real photo should have been the dead giveaway that this was a scam.
*Patiently waiting for the documentary... 😶🍿*
With the Ariana Grande story, I think it can be both. I think you can talk about how the media dehumanizes celebrities while also addressing how Ariana Grande is a homewrecker. The thing that gets me is how she brags about it in her songs. You can't have it both ways.
Also how it never was a problem for her till the spotlight was on her.
True she did Mac Bad bro 😢
Exactly. Some media are garbage and people overreact on socials.
But she’s also a bitch.
And she LARPs as a POC
Nah. Get that gatekeeping out of here. Light skinned people can be POC too.@@coasterthekid8867
Sounds like Chocolate World at Hershey's Park in PA.
I personally don't like Cadbury but free chocolate is free chocolate.
It's so cool but surreal seeing a fellow Brummie on pds comments haha, I grew up close to Bournville can confirm Cadbury world is AMAZING
I think that as part of the disability/employment conversation it should also be acknowledged that there are disabled people who are forced into the workforce by the cost of living. There are people who are having to cause themselves extra pain, worsening disabilities etc because they have to work or starve.
Pl
I feel like that is exactly what is going on with the mexican president and NYT reporter.
well put. 👏
You can say that with almost anyone with a power high, I can name at least one but I know people will be mad if I did
I believe a lot of the criticism with Ariana is because of SpongeBob’s wife commenting on the matter.
"SpongeBob's wife" 😂
Yeah, I'm fairly certain she's a homewrecker. Honestly, screw her.
Ariana has been doo doo ever since she licked that donut. She obviously hasn't changed.
Nicely said.
@@iamshaunsimpson right? every time I think about her sneaky little look as she licked that donut, makes me want to throw up. the fact she still has a career, fans n folks who defend her is just gross.
The images for the Wonka event were 100% AI generated; the "Imagination Lab" was spelled "Imagnation" and the bottom of the Twilight Tunnel picture boasted "Vivue Sounds", "Dippractions" and "Dodjections". It was hilariously bad
Yeah, and characters with multiple sets of eyes, took me less than 2 seconds to spot and think yeah, those are AI.
yup
@@Dan-Simms Oh my god I didn't even see that, I was so lost in the sauce of "Vivue Sounds"
to be fair, wonka is known for having nonsense words. dippractions ad dodjections could easily be wonka words. "imagnation" has no excuse tho LOL
Happens to delivery drivers every so often
I didn't even think of this. It makes me wanna puke, it's so upsetting.
True but there's a bigger issue since they are undocumented they can't apply things like unions from what I've heard they get paid about two dollars and hour to work in farms in California and AZ hiring Americans would be two expensive since they are entitled to fair wagw
Seems like a good idea since it will make it where illegals will not take those jobs for fear of that
I think it's amusing when some Americans are like "Mexicans go home!!" and I'm like, ok Robert, who's going to pick the tomatoes on that farm? You? For $2 a day? Doubt it. Everyone deserves a chance at a better life. Leave them be. Pay them better wages.
Whoa...I didn't consider this angle. This sickens me even further about this bill. My gosh this country is becoming too evil.

A Different Angle -
I was an IcU nurse during the pandemic and now I’m a home infusion nurse.
I never thought of it that way. Interesting!
@@CoryPchajek As someone with ADHD on a rather severe scale, i am loathe to agree with you. according to social norms, im either lazy, inattentive, dont care, or im not motivated, or all of those things.

@@CRTeenyI know how you feel on a personal level. ADHD was always ignored. We look normal so we should be normal is the mindset of many people rather than what is ADHD and how bad it is since I didn’t know about it.
I was thinking exactly this when I heard the story as well.
Pensions were a bad idea and are unsustainable unless you are in an infinite baby boom which would destroy the earth anyway
social security is welfare but it’s a good welfare program and a deserved one
It’s welfare because every single person even the rich get more paid out then they put in after 3-7 years depending on their income level
One solution would be to end the ssi tax cap
Today we only ssi tax people on the first 168k they make a year
As a disabled individual who recently started receiving ssdi I can confirm this is the case for many of my peers and I am now faced with the reality that I may need to find a job I am unable to perform properly.
And the rest of us won't even get pensions. It gets worse and worse.
That is disgraceful. 😢
They can’t afford to not work or have someone else supporting them. 😢💔
Our society is so broken.
yup im poking the bear going to college but i mean way things going i can end up homeless either way so i might well be homeless with a degre lol ;-;
why are you expecting this useful idiot to do his research? he NEVER does....
I got a deep, genuine belly-laugh from the dude claiming he 'gives off major Oompa-Loompa energy'. Best laugh I've had in awhile!
I think he was my favourite part. Like, I hate that it happened it those kids, but if this has to be a thing, it was nice to have that dude "play Willy Wonka"
@ville__don't worry bot. I won't translate your scam ❤
BUT I don't think that absolves her if, in fact, the timelines were crossed with her and sponge bob man.(which I think there was imo)
i dont know my vibe on it is if i dont see them kissing proof like ned from try guys i aint gonna assume
@@kai.-779 that's fair
@@Treps1 unfortunately I don't know what that means 😅
she is gaslighting and weaponizing protecting women. Sadly this is where we are when there is no accountability
They would've gotten the same aggression and outrage as they did with surge pricing, but then those not paying attention would instantly fall for the off peak "discount" and the PR goes back up
"But to be fair, they technically did get a small bouncy castle". Oh god, it's the DashCon ball pit all over again
At least nobody peed in the castle...I hope.
As a person who just became disabled and terminally ill, we are just starting the process of getting on disability and they make it impossible! So many hoops to jump through, even as a state employee (elementary school teacher)
By the time my disability goes through I could already be gone.
Thats so awful. Jesus.
You'd think they would remember the girl who was killed turning around in someone's driveway before signing a law like this. America is becoming more third world everyday. And in Arizona of all places 😫
@@hexes5122 Oh they know, Republicans have just given up all pretense of pretending to care about their public appearance in lieu of punishing marginalized minorities and stuffing their wallets at the cost of every human and the planet. @@noahelkins2764 next time, it would be way easier to just say you wanna live like an animalistic caveman.
Former AZ AGO employee here:
A LARGE part of my job was both teaching human trafficking education and taking constituent calls. I don’t know much farther than that cause as I stated, my office wasn’t to handle that case
BUT on the human trafficking argument the republicans are shoe horning in there it’s bs and they know it.
I live in eastern Oregon and we are SURROUNDED by BLM land. Even being a born and raised local I have found myself on private land by accident.
Meth lab, Oompa Loompa lady made me laugh into the floor😂😂😂

Im terrified of death and what comes next, but this rain is giving me solace in weird way, but a way i welcome wholeheartedly
(A huge fear for me after being laid off)
So glad more people can work remotely! Congrats 👍
I am glad you are able to work! Your story is a strong testimonial for work-from-home jobs!
That Vessi ad slot was so cute. Phil's dedication to his wife is so heartwarming.
I can't stop laughing at the one actor from the Willy Womp-Womp event saying "Anyone who looks at me and thinks 'Willy Wonka' and not 'Oompa Loompa' is out of their mind. I give off *major* Oompa Loompa energy." The event was already such a disaster my man had no need to drag himself like that to make his point, but at the same time.. he's not wrong lol
The wonka thing. It wasn’t supposedly AI generated. It was. The whole site. With ai misspellings, prompts being placed in images, and the wording is very ChatGPT.
No doubt, I instantly knew the images Phill showed were AI, took me less than 2 seconds of looking at the first photo and then the others ones just cemented my suspicions.
It had Fyre fest, written all over that.
@Dan-Simms Same, like I saw like two bunnies on one of the images that looked like something out of that ptsd radio Manga.
I mean. The first image said “Create the booking page of Will' Chocoolat Experrience". Obviously just putting the prompt in the image.
And then contained many other images with garbled AI words like ENCHERINING ENTERTAINMENT Catgacating • live performances • Cartchy tuns, exarserdray lollipops, a pasadise of sweet teats.
Many UKXEPCTED TWITS as it said.
If that bill passes in Arizona I wouldn't be surprised if a year down the line some tourist dies because of it.
I'm sure there has been someone who has crossed land and been killed for it. And that person who's pulled the trigger got off at the slap on the wrist. And that's what the laws the way they are now.
REALLY?
Diddy about to be R'Kellied
Diddy’s next album: Legal Beats
That's why they make the deals. Usually NDA clauses and legal repercussions for talking about the issue are part of the payout.

Very smooth Vessi transition, I though he was gonna talk about the weather for a news story lol
It's just hate and xenophobia that's all that is
Tbh, depending on where you are in the US.
I love these half-hour long episodes, Phil! Please keep this up!
The “at least they have the bouncy castle” is really giving “we have the ball pit” from DashCon - real 2012 fake con vibes
Slick "thank you next" transition after the Ariana Grande segment
As a hardcore gun guy that Arizona bill is utterly ridiculous there is a very defined very visible line between murder and self-defense this crosses the line so far I can't see it anymore
I am disabled and I got my job during covid and it was the biggest challenge for me in my life I felt like I was having to relearn but I still have that job and I have noticed that more disabled people have been working there and have been staying
Re: Wendys
Back in the early days of World of Warcraft they had a fatigue feature where after playing for a while, your character would start to gain less experience until you logged out for a bit.
Ariana has a track record which is why this is so believable. She broke up Mac Miller and his gf. She broke up Pete Davidson and his girlfriend. Now SpongeBob. She even has a song called "break up with your girlfriend, I'm bored". It's a definite MO so I'm not buying the "feminist" plea. Still like her music tho.
Not Ariana giving the most Beauty pageant answer ever 😂
For real. She said so many words to say nothing lol
On the topic of Ariana Grande: It's mostly the blackphishing, but it's also the fact that for about a decade her new relationship starts right after her previous one ends and the (now former) partners of her new relationships say that they noticed her "getting close" with them. My dislike for her is about 97% blackphishing, 2.5% cheating stuff, and 0.5% overrated and mid music.
Whats blackphishing
@calturner57 Acting black, I think, not really sure how's she's doing it.
LOL at "blackphishing". Maybe she relates to and identifies with black culture (being how much of it is a social construct). I mean, if people can gender appropriate...why not?

Comment on the ad, not the show, but Phil being Lindsay's biggest fan always brings me so much joy.
I believe that Wendy's will use dynamic pricing to only reduce the price of food for slow periods. It's just that their base prices will be double and the "discount" will be the original prices.

HEY, Phil.I don't think you hear it enough, so I'm saying it: YOUR PRODUCTION VALUES ARE FANTASTIC. Kudos to you and your team.
The fake wonka story reminds me of that one Spongebob episode where Mr. Krabs tried to make a theme park, and it was absolutely rubbish.
Yall hit it out of the park with this video
I was a previously a led worker who became disabled and know many who are. This coupled with working from home has saved us. It allows us to keep our jobs despite everyone hating us being employed.
during the Vessi ad, i legit for a half second thought "they have Vessi's for Dogs!?"
Hearing Phil talk about FF7 REbirth made me feel really happy, hope you enjoy the game Phil.
The no chocolate 1 jelly bean thing is just the peak of the story
Also thank you for pronouncing Glasgow correctly!
It's hell.
Loved the "thank u, next" reference :D
My only thought about the Ariana Grande situation is that relationships are messy.
Especially hwen she didn't have empathy for her husband or his wife and child when she cheated
They should give you disability pay and if you want to work or not should be up to you and shouldn’t effect your pay
Let’s be realistic here, disabled people may be able to work technically but they have no chance at getting a high paying job or performing at the top no matter how hard they try
Down syndrome already get their full payments even if they work full time, other disabilities deserve the same courtesy
You for example can’t go be a welder even though it’s one of the easiest ways to make 100k a year

Oh my god I was not expecting Glasgow to be covered by Philip Defranco!
[I have a pet peeve about attorneys who can't do the bare minimum of their job.]
Other than that: the pleading itself contains an awful lot of...circumstantial evidence that really doesn't look great for Diddy at all.
The Ariana story is wild. There are plenty of celeberties who never wind up in those tabloids, leaves me to beleive theirs some stock in the sotry.
I wish more people knew this
Regarding the disability report.
That Willy wonka thing looks like if the IASIP characters made it. The Gang Attempts To Build Wonka’s Chocolate Factory.
I am visually impaired, and I have a job interview on Friday to work remotely in customer service. I'm so excited 🎉🎉🎉❤
That Willy Wonka shit was like out of Spongebob where Mr. Krabs builds a carnival outside the Krusty Krab.
thank you for talking about long covid, my mom has been dealing with it for the last 2 years and has almost no energy to do anything (she is under 60)
Honestly on the disability story. A lot of workplaces aren’t following disability guidelines even though we are a legally protected call. WFH showcase’s that they were capable but chose not to. Keeping a lot of disabled workers out of the workforce. I myself lost my job because I had a stroke. They refused to accommodate.
Yep lost my job because of Long Covid and have seen others go through the same thing recently
Mexico president is the embodiment of this quote (You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain)
He’s kind of been the villain ever since he got into office if we’re being honest
LOL! I am definitely in the "not interested, thank you next" camp for that story...
I never realised the Wonka thing was worldwide news, it’s crazy seeing something from Glasgow blowing up like this 😭
My take on the Ariana being a homewrecker thing is - She’s a homewrecker period.
I’m sorry but Willy’s Chocolate Adventure sounds like a P-Hub Mandingo video starring Dusty Limber Ivonna Deep and Tracy Swallows lmaooo
The Victorious character Ariana played is coming to life little by little and daf
