    I was a solar contractor in Santa Barbara specializing in battery based systems for 10 years. The good news is that I was trained by a lifelong journeyman electrician. The inspectors loved me because everything was clean and neat and done properly. The last six years of my business I averaged about $100,000 per month in sales and I paid myself About 120,000 per year. All of my employees made respectable salaries and even my office staff was paid roughly $30 per hour. In the end I got sick and tired of permitting and regulations and dealing with SCE interconnection agreements. Unfortunately, times have changed and the solar industry is flooded with a bunch of yahoos who have no idea what they're doing and have virtually no formal electrical training. 😢

    • @The360Electrician
      @The360Electrician  8 месяцев назад +1

      On a project like this there was some unknowns. Can we find pedestal parts and would it be worth it rather than replacing the pedestal. We found several hazards that are not related to the emergency call to restore power. As a licensed contractor YOU MUST give an estimate for anything you find in violation or hazardous/dangerous so you are off the hook as far as liability. That's also the great part about pulling permits. Contractors love not pulling permits, WE LOVE PERMITS! That's an open door to extra work and more money in your pocket. That is ethical and the right thing to do when you have a client that is being "cheap" or you don't think will do the work "soon". You don't want to put your name on a fuse do you? Some day it goes boom, they will say "The electrician was here and never told me". Thoughts?
