Hi Ellen! If you're making the infinity scarf, chain any even number. If you're making a standard scarf (not joined), chain any even number + 3

The pattern uses category 4 worsted weight yarn. I'm not familiar with the ply system, but I Googled and it looks like worsted weight is similar to 8-ply
