Kudos to the production team on this video. Incredibly well put together and far above all of the other reviews I've watched from the same trip to Sardinia
As fellow 890 rider like Spurge, I like his reference to the bike though selfishly I’d have liked to hear more about the comparison. I’m glad they think this way, though. In any case, I’m excited that Revzilla picked up on the bike, so more attention to the accessories will be given (especially the daytime running lights)
As a Ducati owner with a bike that has the QS, you gotta bang it up the gears, but it's smooth if your moving along not slow, takes a little time to get used to it. Great way getting into the ADV market from Ducati now they can start fine tuning it to riders feedback.
@@RealWunderBanana definitely don't even have to go back that far. Even top of the line 10 year old bikes didn't come with fuel gauges, just a low fuel light. It's really not a hard concept.
This is the only adventure bike right now that you can jump and land, instead of crash. T7, x90, AT, whatever, they all come down like a sack of bricks. This looks so composed, and leads me to believe it must be great everywhere else too.
Good review. Would he interested to compare this to the Tiger 900 Rally Pro. The T7 is going to be extremely hard to beat offroad and the 890R is good but it lacks build quality.
I was thinking the same thing. I’ve been getting some real off-road miles on my new twin and am very impressed with the tech. I maxed out the suspension and surprisingly it’s damn near perfect. At $14,500, the desert x just seems the same.
The quick shift on my 1000 Ninja is the same. A little bit clunky at times. Certainly not a game changer though. You ride around these things and get better when more practised on the bike. I’ve ordered a Desert x and it’s actually interrupting my sleep patterns waiting the 3 months for delivery.
Excellent review :) Only one thing may be puzzling to me is that you referred this beast as a middleweight adv... T700, cbx 500, and tuareg 660, vstrom 650.. etc in my opinion are middle weight advs...

I think it's just too heavy for real offroad ADV (even though I'm a big Ducati fan)... but IMO the T7 and 890 ADV R are ALSO too heavy... which is why I built my TAT bike from a 690/701 base machine. Expensive approach ($19k including $13k for the bike) but the result is well worth it IMO. Great video BTW...
I did NOT spend more than 20 minutes looking at anything other than an Africa Twin. I bought the AT adventure sports a couple months ago - wow just love it !! And the best bang for the buck - plus will stay away from mechanics 🧰
@@Asdfghjkl1234 as much as I love the bike, I needed more off-road ability and traded in for the 890 Adventure R. One is not better than the other they are just better at different things. Great first ride. My question is how does it compare to the Multistrada V2? I'm guessing Multi = better Street and Desert = better Dirt, but I'd like to have that confirmed. Thanks.

I would not add risers to this bike. It was perfectly comfortable to stand up on. One of the biggest misconceptions is that you need to be able to stand up completely straight (which I actually could do with the stock risers) on ADV bikes. A more aggressive position actually allows for better leverage and feel in my experience.
To me it looks like a brother of Tenere 700 :D interesting bike, maybe a topic for some other video (playlist/series) what are your takes on electronics and offroad?
So it really strikes me as a fancier Tenere 700. Is the extra money for this worth it is the real question. For me it's not at all. You get a lot more features on this but if you are someone who wants a more off road focused adventure bike then do you need that?
Hmmmmm. Nice looker but ADV = luggage and highway for going on adventures (or it's just a fat dual-sport). If you're 50 miles from home and doing some ADV offroad, fine - but not tooooo much adventure in that. For actually going places - not sure. Looks good at a Starbucks though.

Good, honest first review- thx Spurg.
Great review, and love that the bike has been produced. But it’s hard to justify this over Aprilia offering given the weight and price of this.
Also the Aprilia's gas tank is lower, like the 890 adventure's, for a lower center of gravity.
If someone likes it, they buy it. Looks alone justify many bike purchases. I would never buy the Tuareg because i think it looks very ugly.
Good review. Would he interested to compare this to the Tiger 900 Rally Pro. The T7 is going to be extremely hard to beat offroad and the 890R is good but it lacks build quality.
No mention of its most similar and comparably equipped competitor which is the Africa Twin 1100. Sitting in between an T7/890 and the 1200s.
