In most cases, ELISA testing does not have to be performed under sterile conditions or under a laminar flow.
In some countries, however, there is a regulatory requirement to perform Avian Influenza ELISA tests in level 2 or 3 containment laboratories.

With indirect ELISAs, the more a sample is positive (containing more antibodies), the stronger its color will be during the revelation step.
A sample may contain more antibodies than the positive control. Consequently, this sample will have a stronger color than the positive control.
