Incredibly inspiring stuff Dak, Veesh, Grant, and everyone involved. This is heavy, but it’s really important to see what a pro rider at this level goes thru to make these kind of parts. Thank you Dak, and wishing you a speedy recovery on the rest of your journey. ❤
The video clip of rudimental comes to mind when i watch this... Im greatful to see your recovery brother ... I had a fall at work.... off scaffolding... i fell 6 meters down to concrete ..(just shy of 20 ft) It took time, but i persisted and trained to walk again and in good time was able to ride my bmx... Im back to work again now and alot more conscious of the risks i take :) For work ... aswell as for fun Keep riding safe brothers
TROOPER! This man’s catalog of insane video parts is truly unparalleled, went IN more than I can even imagine for some of the most iconic and heaviest moves on a BMX… EVER! Dak you are so frickin inspirational! Wish ya nothing but the best! (the fact that you have kept all this to yourself and your closest all this time speaks volumes about your strength and integrity as a human being!) Salute!
This needs more recognition Fr Fr, what an inspiration for anyone. What a beast to be paralyzed and come back not only walking but riding again. Huge props to you dak god bless u fam. Beast!
Dak has and always will be a legend in my book! I met him at the 2023 cultoween, and the dude was an aboslute character. Outstanding dude for sure. Wish nothing but a great recovery so he can continue to do what he loves
While it's heartbreaking and terrifying to hear about your injury your story continues to inspire as usual. The BMX community loves you, wishing you and your family the best, stay strong on your path to recovery - you've got this!
To see someone as amazing as Dak bring themselves back from something so terrifying helps put the weird injuries and ailments that are keeping me off my bike for over 6 months in perspective. Time to get better!! ❤
I had the pleasure, the absolute honour of meeting dak way back in like 2007, and he is such a good, genuine dude. It’s really great to see him getting thru something so devastating.
Tú eres uno de los mejores raiders....igual el más fuerte...que gusto verte mejor, queremos verte pronto haciendo ese street que tu sabes...como en los viejos tiempos
Holy shit... Dak has always been an inspiration and now he's inspiring in a totally new way. That's why he's the ultimate G!! Can't wait to see what you do next, both on and off the bike
Ah bless him, so glad Dakota is ok. Had a back injury myself in 96, not through riding but immediately i couldn't move my legs. Like Dak i recovered fairly quickly, shock stops movement to prevent more injury. Dak will only get stronger. He's gotta finish his part.
Let’s gooo Dak is such a beast! I wish You a speedy recovery big dog👊🏻 you got this, shout out to your wife for keeping things held down, she’s a saint
So glad you are on the way back...honestly I couldn't care less if I ever see DAK riding again, I just want him to be fit and happy with his family...but I have the feeling that he is going to be riding again any time!
Amazing. Tough to see that fall and struggle, but so important. Shows us that vulnerability is strength too. And as a dad to a young kid myself, I relate to the drive to be stronger for our children. No amount of pain can keep a dedicated father from doing what he must to take care of his family. This is inspirational to say the least!
I don’t know you at all watched this with my kids and we are sending you good thoughts. you’re so strong and such a good dad, partner and rider it’s inspiring. Lots of love bro. Keep going.
I had not heard of this injury. Damn Dak, I hope you make full recovery. Had a few ultra bad ones myself and I know what it's like picking yourself back up. Look forward, play the rocky song in the morning and keep on keeping on brother. Much love n respect from the SantaBarbarians!
DAK MAN! Super inspiring words. An incredible recovery thus far! Had no idea about the crash until now. Truly hope you get better and stronger to be there for your daughter! Rooting for you man!
yea buddy, this has happneed to me two times. after 8 years of healing ive been riding again for about 6 months now, i couldnt walk for months, but can almost switch whip out of feebles now!!!!! keep pushing it is not the end!!!
Incredible that Dak has the strength and courage to share this with us all, not everyone would. I've only had the pleasure of meeting Dak a couple of times, definitely an inspiring individual and wish him all the best for a good recovery so he can take care of his family and hopefully back on a bmx.
Glad you’re recovering Dak. One of the toughest dudes I’ve seen on a bike. We all have to walk away eventually.. I had to walk away a couple years ago. I never was sponsored or professional but after some injury/ loss of teeth, and getting a career going at the age of 30, I can’t risk those kind of injuries.. always ride, but maybe think about your next move brother. Love you and I hope you recover 100%. 💯
May you be well again (and shredding as always) soon. LEGEND. Props to your partner… a two month old and their husband learning to walk again. QQUUEEEEEENN.
Seeing the athletes speak about their injuries now rehumanises them and brings things back into perspective. We put people like Dak on podiums akin to Demigods, they aint. Just like us they break and bleed. We need more of this stuff.
Man I can’t imagine how you must’ve been feeling; what was running through your head having that injury with your daughter so young. Not being able to hold or play with my son is one of my biggest fears for sure. Inspiring as always.
Grateful you can be able to walk away from that! Take a rest from bmx as long as needed, take care of you and your family. You've done more than the job already man. Well deserved rest 💪❤ Thank you for pushing the limits everytime and get well soon ❤
Wow, been watching Dak ride for 15 years now. What an eye opener. You are and will always be an inspiration. On or off the bike we respect the #DAK you're a mother fucking beast.
Gnarly it's definitely scary when you're in a situation where you don't know if you'll be able to walk again. I don't wish that feeling on anyone. Get well soon.
Dakota is the goat of explosive style, I'm very happy you're on the road, you're my inspiration to go out and ride, can't wait to see you back in two wheels, my prayers are with you brother
I had shoulder surgery in February, my daughter arrives in august. healing up to carry her through life is key especially for a risk taker like you and me. lol
"I dont want to be done, i'm not done" THIS IS IT, the first step. Dak is a true legend, an inspiration for all of us. Everybody is here with him in this fight.
Dude.... I know exactly what you're going thru. Not the same situation but same outcome. BMX has been my savior. If not for BMX I would be in a wheel chair now. Same injury different circumstances. Work hard my brother. Your family depends on you. Heal quick bro. Looking forward to a part 2.
Absolutely crazy to only just find out about this, completely inspiring! So glad there doesnt seem to be any long term damage! On a positive note i had an idea for the edit once daks back to it, call it ‘Return of the Dak’ 😂
U r my favorite cult rider 1'st and 4most I hope 4 a speedy recovery and can't wait till u get better keep up the therapy and I'll pray 4 u and ur family
a lot of people would find it hard to understand; father time just stamping his legend(s). looking forward to seeing ur next production famo. rest well and stay savage.
Dude is made of different stuff. All the very best to him. Reminds me of John Cardiel getting told he’d never walk again and him telling the doctors ‘you don’t know me, I fucking walking out of here’
Man this video was 𝙉𝙊𝙏 easy for me to watch. I had a similar terrible accident and spinal cord injury and I get the immediate panicking Dak went through. I saw my right arm flailing around on its own with no input from myself like a fish out of water so my initial thought was I severed my arm 𝙉𝙊𝙏 realizing it was from nerve damage until much later in the trauma center. Why I'm so big on safety and folks wearing their helmets as I also suffered a massive head Injury and would be gone today if not for some miracle. Just make sure the risk is worth the reward people because if you aren't a paid athlete this gets expensive quickly and can forever change your life and career goals.
Dacota Rouche ! I see Your video for 15 years!!! It will be difficult for me and our guys to accept that this was your extreme video! It was just as impressive! Like all the videos you've been doing these 15 years!!!! I think this is a great loss for all of us in the world of BMx! We hope you will find a Hobby and it will be better! 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Dak always inspiring, even in the most adverse of situations. ❤
Incredibly inspiring stuff Dak, Veesh, Grant, and everyone involved. This is heavy, but it’s really important to see what a pro rider at this level goes thru to make these kind of parts. Thank you Dak, and wishing you a speedy recovery on the rest of your journey. ❤
DAK has been and will always be my favorite rider/person. Glad he’s overcoming this challenge
So grateful that you've still got the use of your legs, Dak. You're an inspiration to the BMX community and beyond. Heal strong brother 💪
