This hurts more to the players who had to find 120 shrines, that’s why they’re more concerned for the hearts.
Bro destroyed 200 or more hours of exploring for Shrines and koroks in one blow
Jesus Christ loves you so much that he died on the cross for you.✝️
@@Coolstar_der_Clipper Jesus Christ loves you so much that he died on the cross for you.✝️
@@g4l.baller Nice.Greetings to that homie✌️
@G4|.baller
Thanks bro 👌🏻
You know what would've made the scene more shocking? Link actually managing to grab and hold Zelda, but his hand breaks like stone and turns to dust due to the corruption, making Zelda fall
Dang that does sound more shocking
That would have been gut wrenchingly terrifying
it wouldve been amazing imo, but I think the reason it wasn't the case cuz it wouldve been too graphic for nintendo.
Unfortunately that would've instantly made the age rating higher for all regions. Especially in Japan. I certainly think that would've added a lot more but we're honestly never gonna see something that vividly morbid in Zelda. Not after TP
I kinda wish they made totk rated teen and up so they could put more morbid and creepy stuff like this in the game
The shard of the master sword cutting his cheek is so epic.
Yeah that entire scene was just pure anime goodness. "A blade that so easily shatters against my power cannot save you from me" is such a fucking raw line too, especially in his raspy mummyvoice.
"all that for a drop of blood"
@@mah1naIf you can make God bleed, people will cease to believe in him.”
Link: * Loses all his power ups and weapons at the beginning of the game *
Samus: First time?
For this particular one, at least.
I had the same thought; I was like "this is a Samus moment"
As soon as we got put into gameplay with all of the hearts I thought "Oh shit, we're gonna get Metroid'd"
Alucard: yo.
Meanwhile
Hero of Legend and Hero of Time: First time yes
the hearts depletion was for two things, one to create a lore explanation for why youre back to three hearts, and two, to piss off 100% completionists from seeing a full row of hearts go back
I definitely died inside after seeing that
AND THEN THEY ADD MORE SHRINES SO THAT PRESUMABLY IT WOULD BE POSSIBLE TO GET ALL 30 HEARTS + 3 STAMINA WHEELS BUT NOOOOOO THEY JUST HAD TO GIVE YOU 40 POSSIBLE HEARTS BUT HAVE TO SACRIFICE 2 IF YOU WANT A FULL STAMINA WHEEL
They should've let you carry over your breath of the wild file completely too make you feel worse all everything even the shiekah slate gets destroyed
@@Abysslover91 they should actually grab your last used armor in botw for the scene
@@familyneves9777Yeah, I'd like to face Ganondorf in Tingle suit.
This gets considerably funnier when you think about it from Ganon's perspective. He spent ten thousand years standing there doing the limbo, waiting for Link to show up with the Master Sword, certain their battle would be an epic finale to the entire imprisoning war.
And then some blonde twink shows up with the glow stick of destiny, and Ganon curbstomps him and snaps his sword like a twig in about five seconds. Can you imagine how disappointed Ganon must have been, he was really looking forwards to getting to have an epic battle there, and all he got was that. That's the real reason he caused the Upheval, he had to make sure the encounter still involved sufficient levels of Drama, because Link and Zelda sure as hell weren't bringing anything to the table.
He was most likely really disappointed. If you look at the french version or this scene he clearly says "Rauru's ultimate hope, i'm really disappointed of you"
@@gallametirf3265 I have heard really good things about the French translation of the game; like how in the godawful kneeling scene they put a spotlight on the racist implications by having Ganon use 'vous' for Rauru, but Rauru refers to him with 'tu'? Fantastic work, it really adds some of the nuance that the English script desperately needed, because my god the unquestioned celebration of imperialism in this game is fucking disgusting.
Anyways, but now I have the mental image of Ganon curbstomping Link and Zelda here without even trying, and then just going "Okay, I'm not mad. I'm just disappointed."
From Ganons perspective it only took one second though, he says so right before Rauru seals him.
@@dickbong3661 Uh, interesting. If it doesn't bother you too much, would you care to elaborate in how it is a "unquestioned celebration of imperialism"?
And imagine his surprise when that same blonde amputee comes back and just absolutely folds him
I always appreciate the ones who recognize the Rauru name drop. I legit was bouncing with hype when Ganondorf said his name.
I know, right? When I started the game and heard that, I was like, "Excuse me!?"
I had played OoT for the 1st time about a month before so I was happy I did cause I got to get in on that reference
I knew of him from researching the Rauru Settlement Ruins in botw lol
Cause many of the streamers nowadays only play the game for views and money, true Zelda fans thought of Rauru from OoT. That's what I thought right away, I was like OoT Ganon!!! What!!!!
bro when he said that my blood turned SO cold
It was simply inconceivable for me to think that the master sword could ever be shattered
Zelda Lore: "This sword is bathed in a sacred power and those with evil hearts cannot even touch it"
TotK Ganondorf: MY RULES ARE NOT YOUR RULES *proceeds to shatter the Master Sword into pieces using dark magic, the same type of evil influence that the Master Sword is SUPPOSED to counter*
We did get to see it chipped and damaged back in BOTW. I suppose that was a foreshadowing for what was next to come.
Sword be like: “Man, I’m getting too old for this s***.”
@@Jknight416In which part that happened btw? I don't really remember
@@onetwentyeight128There are three times where we see the sword chipped and damaged. The first and most obvious is the title art for Breath of the Wild, the second and third is when you retrieve the Master Sword from the Korok Forest and receive a flashback of Zelda placing the damaged sword in its pedestal before leaving to face Ganon alone, and the last is when you unlock the 13th and final memory, after finding the first 12 across Hyrule, where you see Link gravely injured and tired from fighting all the guardians basically by himself. Depending on how you do things, those two memories could be seen the other way around.
"Why would we keep Ganon in the basement...?" Quote of the decade :D
Wasn't the best idea, all things considered. Maybe the attic would've been better?
Honestly when i saw how many hearts link had my first thought was "shit im going to lose them all aren't I"
I would have tolerated it if they did not show us lose the hearts one by one
Honestly, same here. I was like "alright how am I going to lose all of this?"
same, I knew I was gonna lose them the second I saw it, I just didn't know it would happen on-screen
I love the excuse of the reason u start with 3 hearts again is the gloom corrupts links body and seals them away and the blessings of light your collecting slowly gets rid of the corruption and freeing your heart/stamina that was sealed up.
It makes sense, since the gloom hands and monsters takes away your health vessels. But with an attack point blank from Ganon himself, you would think it would be more fatal
@@robertjv it was if rauru didn't save you and replaced your arm with his the corruption would've killed link.
@@robertjv Exactly, especially when you consider *spoilers unless you beat the game*
That Ganondorf directly takes away hearts in the final fight that can’t be replenished
The question is, what happened to his stamina?
@@Fostero7 also taken away probably, because although not shown taken away, we can assume the same happens because, when we get a stamina vessel, gloom also gets dispelled
And just like that, we were witness to on of the most shocking events in the entire series! The Master Sword, the sword of evil’s bane and the sword that seals the darkness, shattered! The seemingly unbreakable weapon that proved Link’s destiny as the sworn hero of Hyrule, in pieces in an instant! What a way to start off this game!
dude ngl i wish we never saw it in the trailers. it would've been SO much impactful
I know the Master Sword from all Hyrule different universe in the multiverse cannot break. But, in that game this is the first time seeing the Master Sword is shattered by a powerful darkness.😱
My theory based on unspecified events later in the game is that this game IS a prequel to all the others and the master sword was not as powerful in this time as in later titles. Regardless it makes for an amazing dramatic scene!
Newcomers - “MY HEALTH!”
BOTW PLAYERS - “MY SPIRIT ORBS!”
I would be cool is Ganon's gloom left Link's with 1 heart, and Rauru healed Link by giving him 2 heart, when he gave link his arm
that's why Link isn't able to fully upgrade his hearts and/or stamina. his arm doesn't belong to him so even though he's "healed" he will never be able to get those last 2 hearts
@@kasagure. Actually link has more hearts than the intro if you get all of the shrines
@@UndreamedRock22 Still weird we don't have those remaining orbs in botw.
**First time seeing Link’s max hearts permanently go down**
-“Aw hell no.”
**Then sees the Master Sword get shattered to pieces**
-“OH SHIT”
As someone who has found all 120 shrines in botw this is a new kind of pain
If Link could speak for this special occasion, he would have made a gut clotching scream of agony for the amount of pain he went through that moment. But hey, he’s the hero of courage for a reason.
Oh that's such a good idea
Ngl when the Master Sword was broken I shouted “FI!!!” Because she must’ve been incredibly injured when the Master Sword was broken… Im glad that BOTW Zelda was able to live up to SS Zelda/Hylia’s legacy and restores it and restores Fi to her normal self, plus at the end Fi has become more active, as if it’s almost time for the faithful companion of the original Spirit of the Hero to truly awaken from her endless slumber and to take true form after countless eons
The hearts shattering is a GREAT way of showing without telling.
I knew this was coming, I knew it was scripted, but it's still fucking PAINFUL having done all 120 shrines + the DLC ones
I swear I had straight anxiety when Ganondorf made his official debut and honestly this incarnation of Ganondorf is waaaaay terrifying than his Ocarina of Time counterpart. Also I hope it wasn’t just me but this one scene gave me Princess Monoke vibes!
As a fan of Mononoke it was interesting seeing the parallels between the two. The hero gets inflicted with a swathe of cursed tentacles that are doomed to kill him through his arm after all.
the whole video is pretty much:
"yeah get him link!"
"oh no there goes his hearts"
Honestly my reaction to link missing was just "goddamn it link now we gotta do this all over again"
Kwing's "The Sword of Evil's Ba-- HOLY CRAP!" got me
Ganon said nah
Players should’ve realized Link’s power was gonna taken away immediately, this isn’t the first time video games did that.
They're streamers; its their job to over-react like they're shocked at everything
Ironically, this both is and isn't the first time they've done it to Link. This is the first time it happens (in a Zelda title) during gameplay, but canonically this same Link had it happen in BotW before gameplay started (100 years of sleep-induced atrophy and all). I suspect most people knew they weren't going to keep the full hearts, but I'd not be surprised by anyone who thought Link would be KO'd and the loss would happen (due to poison/corruption/concussion/whatever) while he was out. Still pretty dramatic seeing his whole right side charbroiled like that.
And the bigger surprise was definitely breaking the Master Sword. I knew I'd lose it, but I thought it would just be left behind here when Link jumps after Zelda.
Edit: Actually, come to think of it, I bet the broken sword was in the trailers somewhere, but I tried really hard to avoid spoilers before playing...
Poor Fi..that must of really hurt. I know everybody is reacting to Link losing his hearts, but Fi getting shattered is just..that hurts, I hope she still somehow resides in a master sword somewhere..
Judging by the fact that you can hear her little shimmers at the end of Great Sky Island, I think she's still kicking in there somewhere.
Link jumping to grab Zelda's hand is funny to me, because what was he planning on doing if he succeeded? "Well, we're both still falling and Purah borrowed my Paraglider, but I can fall damage can-WHAT DO YOU MEAN THAT MAKES ME FALL FASTER NOW?!"
Well he’s the embodiment of COURAGE, not wisdom.
I like how this game has a reason as to why link loses everything at the start, in most Zelda games, even ones that are direct sequels, like Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask, they don't explain why you lose everything, yeah link returns the master sword to become a kid again at the end of ocarina, but when you do that in the game you don't lose your hearts, in this game it actually has you with full health and SHOWS you lose it
Zelda: how do you know our names?
Ganon: oh, I don’t know, I’ve only been living this nightmare for thousands of years over and over again.
Second I saw Link losing all his HP to the gloom, all I could think was...
Damn they pulled a Metroid
Love seeing both BornLosersGaming and Roamer appearing on compilations like these. BLG is growing and have gotten much bigger, but it's always fun to see them appear in non BLG videos. Also Roamer is a pretty small creator and growing, so it's also great to see him appear in these too.
fr aswell as symbalily, i watched her whole hollow knight playthrough
Stephenplays: "not today satan!"
*sees hearts drop*
"Oh. Oh yes today satan"
I’m so glad RtGame is getting included in these he’s really funny and great reactions
I’m surprised at how many people don’t recognise Rauru’s name drop. I was screaming when I heard that shit since I figured he was referring to the actual sage and this was OOT ganon.
Except this is NOT OOT Ganon
@@Ashurman666 …yeah well I didn’t know that when first booting up the game.
it would of been more badass if nintendo allowed us to battle ganon right there. during that battle you'll lose your hearts after every hit from him. on your last heart and the final hit you attempt should shatter the master sword.
That'd be nice and more anxiety inducing
the problem with this is that the community can and will find a way to defeat him right there and then 😅
@@TheYearOfJerome
A good pants-shitting moment to counter that would be when link prepares his flurry rush during slow mo, Ganon just slowly turns his head and parries his rush.
Think of when Superman turns his head to look at The Flash in Justice League. That kind of "Oh shit" stuff.
@@Mooshkajoe The issue with that is that they'd have to implement that into the final boss instead of having him flurry rush you back since that is obviously a far stronger counter to the flurry.
@@ethanrose9682
Just make it a cutscene that triggers. Problem solved.
For a few glorious moments, I had maxed hearts and stamina, and it was beautiful
11:01 Asking the real questions
I like that you included Symbalily. She's very nice. From the snippets I've seen from her Hollow Knight and Bloodborne gameplay, I'm sure watching her play this will also be pretty cool
It would be more satisfying if the stamina bar was also shown being reduced to 1 full circle 😂
Seen it around 19 times and my heart gets destroyed every time 😭
Just like all of Link's
"Why would we keep Ganon in the Basement?"... 😂
Know what's funny about this? If the tips angle was just a little lower, it would've embeded in Ganondorfs forehead, killing him.
I can honestly say that I've never heard the Master sword called The Sword of Evils...Holy Crap! 😂
Thanks for making these I always like looking for new playthroughs to watch and im able to find new channels through these kinds of videos :)
Dehydrated Ganon? *Shakes Head*
Ganon Jerky? *Nods Head*
The dude that said “the sword of evil’s-HOLY CRAP” 😂😂😂
I never even realized that Gannondorf is Matt Mercer until that dude said it. Holy fuck he's talented.
Basically a GoW2 moment. Kratos was super OP at the start and then Zeus just nerfed him.
The Sword of Evil's Bane Shattered like Glass 😢
Thanks for including Us in this reel.
This Ganondorf was definitely _a_ *_LOT_* _more powerful if he can_ *_shatter a formerly indestructible sword like glass._*
Awesome, first time discovering the Depths reactions next??
I've been dreaming of this! :'D
RT's timing on the fucking joke is hilarious.
W YOU FOR INCLUDING ROAMER SMALL CHANNEL YET VERY UNDERRATED
I’ve probably forgotten the lore of the master sword at least for BOTW but was it passed down for generations? Wouldn’t that mean one existed in the past too?
There are two master swords in botw one in the korok forest and one that Zelda has hidden for 10000 years
You need to include QuinBoBin in your compilations. His reaction was hilarious.
Quinbobin is amazing!
pointcrow making a cross with his fingers 😂😂😂
5:53 my exact reaction 🤣
I love Vinny just marvelling at Matt Mercer's voicework.
Yo you gotta do one of these for Ganon's boss fight at the end~ People reacting to his health bar that keeps going. That was a sick ass moment!
Suggestion: Gamers react to Ganon's health bar.
2:12 "Link have you ever seen the movie with Brendan Fraser titled The Mummy?"
Perfect
I haven't watched ALL of the reactions in this video, but of the ones I've seen (from here and beyond), NOBODY seemed to have a reaction when Ganondorf name-dropped Rauru. Of course, it turned out to be a different guy, but I lost my shit when I heard that name.
BLG acknowledged it, not a massive response but a "hey I know that guy, no way, is that the same guy?" which is pretty much how I responded
It's so fitting I skipped to each person and the first thing Dawko says is "OH MOI GOHD GOIS", I'm gonna gaslight myself into thinking that's the only thing he can say lmao
He screams everytbing. I dont like it
You have no idea how happy it makes me to see Shady included on one of these
this scene woulda gone so much harder if they didnt show the broken master sword before release
You don’t know how cool it is to see Roamer in one of these. Goated youtuber and overall swell guy
Yknow its funny when one of em said it was cool that it was a sequel to BOTW I was thinking how we don't get many sequels only to realize that out of all the mainline Zelda games on home console only Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword didn't get sequels some of the sequels were on the DS family but they are still sequels
I like how Zelda is asking how this guy knows them and Gannondorf be like: Excellent question…. Anyways die.
As a huge Metroid fan, I wasn't even Phaazed.
Thank you!!
What a mood 7:24
Why did you remove gannon best line "A blade that shatters so easily against my power, won't save you from me" in almost all of the reactions.
The castle when the bunch of smoke puffed up: opps i tooted
I made a Hellsing abridged reference
"Hey, no what are you doing those are mine"
Why did you cut off the dialogue too 😭
You don’t know how it felt to kill my immortal enemy with my mortal enemy. (In this case I’m talking about their literal mortality, I know mortal enemy means something else.)
Ow my hand no my heart now my sword what the heck
Well, I haven’t finished all of BOTW but do intend to finish tears of the kingdom as it’s the most recent Zelda game on switch that everyone seems to be talking about and even I was upset that I lost all of my hearts but 3 and the master sword was decayed in “The Upheaval” as this game calls it when Mummy Ganon used the gloom to lift everything into the sky and yeah, having just started I was more mad about the “sword that sealed the darkness” breaking than the hearts even though the hearts were a bummer too.
But I realize I’m in the minority having never actually finished BOTW before this game so yeah, maybe I’d feel different if I finished all 120 shrines in BOTW before heading to this game.
“What is this, Ninja Gaiden?” was the funniest and yet almost profound comment
"Why would we keep ganon in the basement?"
Dead😂
Oh heck yeah!!!
the fact that point crow is the first person makes me burst out laughing.
uhh I did not know dawko played this yet alone have a separate channel....
Oh hey it's the collector's anxiety guy
Imagine if the shard from the master sword went straight into ganon's eye instead lol...
I like at the end goldenglove reaction to the hand was funny
My question is, if this body was down here the whole time, why was Ganon struggling to create a physical form in botw?
Cause Rauru seal on him. It weakened the "gloom " significantly
Edit: stupid autofills
Unfortunately this game doesn't seem to aknowledge any connection between this Ganondorf and Calamity Ganon which is really weird and frustrating. It seem like Nintendo want to imply we somehow had two separated incarnation of Ganon alive at the same time.
@@wintersong2266 Here's my theory. The failed timeline doesn't start with the hero of time losing. It starts with Zelda going back in time to warn rauru and the sages of link.
Meaning the imprisoning war occurs.
And ganons physical body is preserved under the castle. But the spirit of demise lives on and manifests as Calamity Ganon in the war 10000 years ago, at the end of the failed timline. Then coming back in botw (in which I believe the timelines merged beforehand).
And now in totk has raruas seal drained him, and broke.
Leading to the events of totk.
My head cannon is that the calamity is formed every whatever years from the excess of hate built up in gannondorf that can’t be used bc he is trapped
I count botw and TOTK as their own thing bc otherwise it’s way to confusing even TOTK doesn’t make much sense compared to BOTW
@@cheddarsunchipsyes8144I mean the Calamity being around 10,000 years ago doesn't make sense at all.
But Ganondorf being around at the beginning of Hyrule does.
Take it like this. He is the first Ganondorf & he gets super sealed by Rauru. Technically he shouldn't be there cause there wasn't technically a Zelda or Link in his time period until this scene where Zelda went missing. Or maybe it's a paradox & Zelda was always meant to go back in time. But what if Link did exist then too but never got to become the Hero.
So when Ocarina of Time came around. There was a Zelda & Link, so Ganondorf had to be there as well to complete the Trio. The that Ganondorf gets Killed/Resurrected or Sealed so many times.
Then when 4 Swords Adventure happens, that was an entirely different version of Ganondorf. I think he ended up getting sealed.
So then fast forward to TotK Present. Rauru's Seal finally breaks & the original Ganondorf wakes up.
This whole dilema brings one question...
Is the Master Sword getting weaker or is Ganondorf's power/ Demise's malice getting stronger??
because shouldn't the Master Sword easily counter Ganondorf?
A little bit of both. The Master Sword was weakened through the events leading up to BotW and Ganondorf is stronger in these games.
I think both. In some games the Master Sword needs to be enriched/restored before it can stand up to Ganon (TP, WW, ETC.)
On the other hand, think about it. Ganon has been sealed down there for thousands and thousands of years, letting his hate and calamity grow. His hate was even strong enough at multiple times to attack hyrule by itself. It's safe to assume the more time went on, the stronger his hateful willpower gets. not to mention in the game its stated that the secret stones enhance or multiply ones strength/power. I think that's definitely what we are seeing here.
Ganondorf in this game is powerful. But also the Master Sword apparently needs to recharge. Fwiw in the first game it was looking a little worse for wear after Fort Hateno and Link's fall. Also that shard _did_ still cut Ganondorf's cheek, even still.
Actually Wind Waker played with this as well with the Earth and Wind Sages.
@@brolytriplethreat This game establishes now that the sword's power is limitless, and it's equal to the source of sacred power that fuels it
Skyward sword was through hylia's blessing (via zelda)
With wind waker it was the sages who powered it up
Botw was mainly fueled by the deku tree, which was mostly for maintenance. So in reality nothing was fueling it anymore, and it grew weaker, to the point ganondorf easily shattered it.
It's possible that Demise's hatred and malice combined with Calamity Ganon's power called Malice and Ganondorf's DNA created Gloom as a magical, corrosive, life-draining substance. It could be draining the blood of those who step on or in it.
The moment I started the game with full hearts I thought to myself "Are they seriously just gonna pull a Metroid Prime on us?"
My reaction: NO! MY POWERS!
Whenever Link loses hearts: WTF IS THAT DAMAGE MY GUY?! OOOOOOOOHHH!!!!
Please please please, do one with the OPPOSITE health bar, if you know what I mean. And also the ending!
My first reaction was: Wait is that Zelda or Metroid?
You put gold glove but not smallant? Weird
Ganondilf comes in and deletes my whole BoTW save file
Been watching BLG for a while now. So glad to see them here
Cool Video!
Can we get a gamers react to ganondorf's smile?
I was happy to go back to 3 hearts after completing all shrines in botw, would've made the game way too easy and unbalanced.
Gloom hands are NOTHING compared to this scene! Link's arm got Anakin-d!
Princess Mononoke reference? Perhaps?
