I’ll miss these late night PAC12 games though. They’re almost always entertaining and close. i don’t have a dog in this fight so i can just enjoy the games. Last Friday night’s Colorado vs Stanford game was also very entertaining. I stayed up to nearly 2:30am watching that one
They thought it would be an easier road to the playoffs in the B1G.. when they can’t even dominate the lowly PAC. They should’ve stayed right where they are and especially since the playoffs are about to be expanded with P5 champs having guaranteed spots. I guess they want to become as irrelevant as Nebraska.

One of my favorite Bowl Games ever was when the UTES beat Bama in the Sugar Bowl .

@@juddh8089 I think that would be very good for Utah. Even though they only have one loss, no one's giving them any respect. I'm not a Utah fan but I think they're a very solid and good team that no one wants to play. If Cam was there this year, they would be undefeated in my opinion and a definite threat for the playoff, and probably the best team in the pac-12. I hate that the pac-12 finally got good in football and then they break up. It's all about Oregon and Washington right now but if Utah wins out, It would be tough to keep them out of the playoffs
USC has a Utah problem. When Stanford was big, good and physical, USC had a Stanford problem. USC just can't handle strong, physical, talented teams.

Very true, finesse teams like SC tend to depend on a few top receivers and qbs to make flashy plays. When they don't get those big flashy plays they fold to superior team work and strength. Fun fact: Utah beat Stanford back when Stanford was big , good, physical and ranked 5th in the country

When they were in the MWC, they were big, strong, and tough, leading to two unbeaten seasons (2004, the 12-0 Alex Smith-led, Urban Meyer-coached team that won the Fiesta Bowl, and 2008, the 13-0 team under Coach Whittingham with Brian Johnson at QB that won the Sugar Bowl.)

USC seems to play more as individuals than brothers. Caleb sits alone on the bench.

Although Alex Grinch is a pretty bad defensive coach / coordinator (for instance he didn't even adjust for Utah's QB Barnes running the ball even though they've been doing it ALL NIGHT against the SC defense), the main problem really IS Riley. And it has to do with how he runs his up tempo quick strike offense. Even when they succeed, the drive ends in 2 to 3 minutes and doesn't allow the defense to adequately rest. And when the offense doesn't succeed, the defense just has to get out onto the field that much faster! It's just a terrible overall gameplan that leaves the defense exhausted and vulnerable by game's end. USC was very fortunate that they didn't have to play Oregon or Washington last season, or they would have more losses, and Caleb would not have won the Heisman. This season, they will get totally exposed... and it will no doubt get worse as they move to the Big 10 conference from next year.

Here in Washington state at least my family like to say USC stands for the University of Spoiled Children. Awesome to see another classic college football ending. I know it has its haters but I was also miss the Pac 12 and it isn't just because I am a fan of one of the teams thats one of the odd men out in Washington State.

And the same exact thing would have happened in last year's chip if he didn't get injured, it just wouldn't have been as extreme as it actually was in reality.
The only difference Caleb Williams not getting hurt in the Pac-12 Championship Game makes on its outcome is a closer score between the two teams. (As Alex Grinch's defense would still have been torn to absolute fucking shreds by Cam Rising & Dalton Kincaid REGARDLESS of what happened to Caleb!)
Aka, even if this hypothetical make-believe reality, Utah still wins the chip by over a possession (think ≈10 points), although it's nowhere near the absolute utter BEAT DOWN margin that we actually got in real-life. 🤷

A good bet Riley is gonna peace out to the NFL before his 10-ply team gets exposed weekly & his stock as a “QB Whisperer” is understood to be more the result of playing bad defenses.
Utah deserves a lot of credit. And their physical brand of play is a nice preview of USC’s future.
Imagine if USC didn’t agitate to blow up the PAC12. They could continue playing & beating up on mostly soft, mostly bad defenses in sunny/warm conditions.
Instead they lobby to leave & blow-up the conference where they had every advantage to dominate. So they can look forward to this kind of physicality (that they struggle with)…but in much worse weather!

USC's defense was somewhat adequate (especially with the pick 6 that gave them a temporary lead), but they didn't adjust for Barnes using his legs against them, and that's on both Alex Grinch and Riley as well. Also, Caleb Williams was trying to pad his passing stats after having that bad week at Notre Dame, and DIDN'T use his legs as much as he should've to help out USC (like Barnes unselfishly did with Utah).

If you were to ask my specifics Id point my finger at Lincolns soft coaching style along with the strength and conditioning coach. As a result has teams in their entirety lack physicality

Sure his teams will score 50 points but that's most cause their defense gives up the same amount. Had he had a decent or even above average defense he would've won a title or 2. This is the difference between a team and a bunch of individuals. USC tells their players they are on their own for their NIL deals. Never been a college football fan {NFL only} but recently started watching this year to watch 2 teams lose. 1} is USC cuz the Caleb commercials, and him stating he wants ownership in the team that drafts him. 2} The Buffalo's cuz of Deions ego and need for attention. And cuz of that, now Im becoming a big fan cuz a lot of teams are playing great ball without the self centered, outside noise.
