Would it be beneficial to creat a sand catcher at the bottom of the waterfall in the shape of an inverted 3 dimensional trapezoidal prism or inverted cone shape? The video didn't really mention much about the most effective way of catching sand while maintaining the supply of sand for a longer lasting waterfall effect. Obviously over time the sand would have to be replenished anyways. Im just trying to figure out the best possible design before I go ahead an build one for my aquarium.

I used this video to guide me through my project but I have a very weak sand flow however I do have a sand boil over the tee. Any idea how I can adjust this?

1) can use filter because if use filter to clean water than filter will catch sand
2) off course all sand will not go inside the bucket and then can not recycle so we need to add more sand ? Or can reduce height
3) when 45o deg cut than it should open from upside ?

Place the pump under or behind the lava rock. You can make place for the sand pick up from plastic plate / mica plate.
I have followed the vid. But I either get the sand catcher bubbling and no water out the outlet. Or way to powerful and explodes everywhere. Iv bought inline valve and thst just stop the flow and zero water came out the pipe. Please help

I made this, followed the video and it work when i first start it during test, when sand is in the pipe already as you first turn on work good, but when run longer the sand stops collecting at the funnel. The water escaping through funnel pipe part is causing sand to blow all over and can't sink into funnel to be brought up to the arm outlet. I tried to pack in more sand and rock to controls it did not help. The top outlet pushes out water still despite this which would be fine it it was going to be above water but below it give no effect without the sand. How do i increase the sand going up to the arm and prevent the water pressure going up the funnel not allowing sand to gather in the pipe.
You should stack rocks around to form a funnel. and the sand must be abundant enough to flow down

What is the benefits between using a power head or using an air stone? I have seen both methods. Trying to decide which I would rather do.
air stone won't last long , power head is permeant ,
water powered is much easier , with air you have to get a very high powered pump or it does not lift the sand , then you have unwanted bubbles to deal with and they are difficult to hide
I think, you need a pump that can do about 1000 Liter/Hour. The pipe looks like 1/2 inch.

@@vaughnryker7454 Your divider in the tee needs to be correctly set up! Try different divider adjustments before glueing it together.

you have to put "some" sand back into the trap, it doesn't all make it to the right place, some scatters....its a matter of just monitoring every few days to replenish. Tip: buy lots and lots of sand and be ready to use a mini-shovel to capture some of it back to the sand-trap. thanks for watching!!!

Not the sand, but I would worry about the chemicals in the glue and all other materials. I have ONLY used aquarium silicone to be sure not to kill my fish.

You informed us the length, but how many are 25 to 30cm? What is the length of the bottom ones that make the shape a U? There is a good amount of detail on the video, but if you're are following along w/ the entire video can you please give more detail step by step as you go and the meadurements of each part and what part is going to what? I am an ameteur when it comes to this, so the more specificity and detail, the easier i am able to comprehend. In other words, can you dumb it down for me, please? Lol
