It also depends in the draw, but I have to be realistic and there are 3 teams that I don't think we have much hopes against (Real, City and Bayern) and another team that is looking a bit more solid than us Napoli. Against any other team I guess it will be 50/50%. If we manage to get to the semi-finals in today's modern football it will already be a wonderful run.

The rest of the analysis is correct other than putting so much emphasis on Enzo, sadly for both of those points I mentioned you seemed to lean on stereotypes (team keeps possession so keeper's good in buildup) (big tackle volume so he's like Kanté). Love the jersey though
I have some things to point out here: Ody is not great with his feet. He's improved a bit but his strong point is that he's a great shot stopper. His biggest weakness is still coming out of goal though. Otamendi has not been making that many mistakes lately. He had a shaky few months when he first arrived, but for about 2 years now he's been pretty consistently great. It's actually Silva who makes more mistakes out of the two of them, which is natural for a young player, but having Otamendi to cover for him when needed has been important for his development. They're playing well together and with confidence, and Otamendi's experience and leadership at the back have been key for that. Aursnes has been somewhat of a strange revelation playing in the wing. He arrived this season as a DM/CM and his goals and assists numbers are not high, as well as other metrics you would expect from someone playing that high up the pitch. But his contribution to that front four is basically knowing where he needs to be and where everyone else is at all times. He's the guy that does all the little things well, and the team works a lot better for it. He's had some fitness issues, but David Neres has been having a very good season as well, and Gonçalo Guedes has also found some form since arriving in January. You can expect both of them to be part of that front four at some point as well.
Guys, this is really simple, they might not be the strongest team in terms of value but yes, they might be able to surprise the world thanks to their versatility, talent and consistency! The truth is, even though I'm a Benfica fan I'm also capable of understanding what's happening and make a judge out of that. And the truth is that Benfica and Napoli this year are on fire! Both are consistent, well organized, and most importantly, they've built a team that works together! Because the thing that most people don't understand is that, it doesn't really matter if you have the greatest players in your team if they can't understand each other and play well together, that's the reason why some of the biggest teams in the world were eliminated early on! Look at PSG for example, they think that just because they have the money to buy the best players that they are in a good position to win trophies, but that's not how it works! There is nothing a manager can do if your players don't understand each other, and money can't really buy that... It might, but for that you need to understand what you're actually looking for. Look at Barcelona and their Xavi and Iniesta times, they had the same team for so long that players knew already what to do before they had the ball, they had something called chemistry, and unfortunately that's something that football started to loose as soon money came in... And that's the difference between Napoli and Benfica compared to the other teams, they understand each other, everyone knows their role and can perform at the highest level! Let's see what happens in the future, but I wouldn't be surprised if one of these teams were to win the UCL
Great video. And nice comparison with the Monaco run in the CL in 16/17! Not in terms of the tactical scheme but in terms of the enthralment and dynamics of their play. How far can they go? It will depend massively on luck and on the draw tomorrow!
Thank you for sharing a bit of Benfica in your channel, even brought tears to my eyes. It would be a dream come true to watch my home team winning a CL, would be alot happier if this season becomes something like constant. Obviously we can't keep holding the best players but I hope in the future we are able to afford more higher wages and with that allowing us to be more competitive Internationally.
yeah he was unlucky with the injury at beginning of season. He was the starter and then i dont remember if it was still in preseason or with 1-2 official games under the belt , he got injured along with the other 2 CBs ... we had to go to the youth squad and bring Antonio Silva, which essentiallyl grabbed the opportunity with a bear grab essentially. The kid did amazingly and has been doing terrrific ever since.
@@NoRoads2AllRoads It was all drama on the last day of summer transfer. We were so confident in Morato we offloaded Vertonghen, and then upon hearing of Morato's injury that same day, we scrambled to pick up John Brooks just before nightfall. Antonio Silva was only supposed to be an emergency solution, to play during the brief window between Morato's injury and Brooks' arrival. But the boy imposed himself on his debut and never looked back. To be honest, I feel a little sorry for Brooks.
Vlachodimos isn't really that good building from the back and is kinda bad with his feet, this is where he gets so criticism, however I love him as he's an amazing traditional keeper
@@krentenbol3363 for sure. 10 European finals lost to this day. The myth might have had some effect. But it is simply a lie to claim Bela Guttmann said such things

I really respect your knowledge, but one thing that Odysseas Vlachodimos lacks is skill with his feet and depth control. He is a top shot stopper though.
Benfica feel like a semi-final team, if the draws go our way. Good enough to compete, but a few steps behind a team like City or Bayern. Enzo was a big loss for us, and even though Chiquinho as surprised everyone, he just doesn't have the same quality Enzo had both attacking and defending. That said, we're a solid, fluid, versatile team, than can press high and play with a high tempo to win the ball back, and shrewd enough to know when to hold possession to slow down play, or when to drop 10 yards deeper.
im a sporting fan and believe it or not i do want benfica to win it obviously, however history doenst play alongside them, 9 finals... 0 trophies. and they havent faced a team like Real, Bayern or even city. if they win against any of those i could easily see them lifting the trophy, good luck
They can and have proven how solid and bossy they can be against the likes of Juventus and PSG, let’s see what happens, but if they do win it would be the first time I’d cry because of football!
What about the Bela Guttmann curse?? The magical 100-year curse... I hope they break this curse finally... They have been 5 times runners up since their last win in 1962.
Thanks for the comments and analysis that you did about Benfica, i agree with them. Boavista in the beggining of 2000's (2001) was champions and in the 1946 Belenenses was national champion (just a detail).
it would be nice if they knockout city or bayern next round but idk if they can go all the way. a team like madrid could frustrate benfica with their plot armor.
Benfica strike me as a team that is consistently.dominant. I was fully expecting Napoli to beat them but no befica do not care who is top dog they will win. On a good day they could win Europe against any team including man city
Has this person ever seen them play? their goakeeper is dreadful playing out from the back, it's his biggest weakness by far, great shot stopper though

Now you understand why every fan was so butthurt about Enzo leaving halfway through the season. Despite the huge profit all we wanted was for him to end the season and see how far we could go
Come on, noone really believes Benfica can win the UCL. They are a great team, but noone can realistically see them competing with Bayern, City or Madrid. Even Napoli is a big stretch. Btw, I'm a Benfica fan and am loving this season.
I believe that any squad that reaches the quarter finals must seriously consider themselves able to be champions, unlikely as it is. That said... I also believe benfica has a "karius" in otamendi and rafa: good players of course but not decisive ones.
Ramos would be great at Chelsea, With Kai in Rafa’s position, Mount in Mario’s position, and Sterling in the Aursnes’s position. Nkunku, Mudryk, and Broja can rotate with the front 3.
I am very happy to see Mario thriving really! I saw a lot of potential when he was in inter back then but he wasnt getting playing time much and our team was going downhill back then(bad management) so we sold him, he deserves a strong team like benfica to reach his potential :) Oh and What do you mean inter "yeah they are through" they beat porto in champions league and even the second tie they squandered chances and were briliant defending the lead, and also won vs napoli in league, I dont understand why u r suprised, Inter have even more chance than benfica honestly, here is an example, they lost against porto in league and inter passed them too!! and have tons of injuries currently, yes they not doing good league because unless you have all your XI u dont get wins in serie A!!! yes its serie A, look at the competition there, its insane!!!
As a Benfica fan, I really enjoyed this video (I love to see more content about us) but I don't agree with some things that you said. Otamendi doesn't make lots of mistakes, he is very different from the time that he was in Manchester City, he is our captain and has been great for us. Benfica has been having a great season but let's not start the fireworks yet we can all celebrate when they actually win . But they look promising and can do it .
Only way for Benfica, Inter or Milan to win the UCL is if they play vs each other and maybe chelsea and if Munich, City and Madrid also kick each other out and the final is Benfica - Napoli p.e. :) lets be realistic. Munich is impossible for Benfica to win. City and Madrid is 10% chance for Benfica
Hey! It’s not just 3 teams that won the Primeira Liga! Boavista FC won it in 2000/2001. Belenenses has also won it once, a long time ago. Braga is “ok”, as you said, since Boavista’s finances went to the ground after the stadiums built for Euro 2004 and Braga hardly played a dime for their new stadium. Don’t you ever forget: Boavista and Belenenses were also champions. 🏁

He's had some fitness issues, but David Neres has been having a very good season as well, and Gonçalo Guedes has also found some form since arriving in January. You can expect both of them to be part of that front four at some point as well.
agree with 100%. he also forgot to mention Florentino luis. also boavista and belenenses won the league aswell. Guedes is has an injury though...
@@Fabioandre2012 Yes, Florentino has been amazing. I believe he's actually leading the UCL in tackles and Interceptions per game.

Who's here after the draw? Benfica and Napoli on the same bracket side. Very exciting
After the UCL draw just now, Benfica actually have a chance.
Would be my childhood dream... Born and raised from a Portuguese Benfica Family 🦅🏆❤️
How can you this the whole video and barely mention Aursnes? He has been phenomenal
Great video. And nice comparison with the Monaco run in the CL in 16/17! Not in terms of the tactical scheme but in terms of the enthralment and dynamics of their play. How far can they go? It will depend massively on luck and on the draw tomorrow!
French football arent even a top 5 league...even Turkey Belgium got more teams left in europe, been like that for years
@@bonteprete pff wow teams in conference league 😅
He did not say vlachodimos is good with his feet. I shiver whenever he gets the ball on his feet
Thank you for sharing a bit of Benfica in your channel, even brought tears to my eyes. It would be a dream come true to watch my home team winning a CL, would be alot happier if this season becomes something like constant. Obviously we can't keep holding the best players but I hope in the future we are able to afford more higher wages and with that allowing us to be more competitive Internationally.
the draw makes this a hell of a lot more possible
Brilliant... I'm a Benfica fan and now with your explanation, I understood how my ❤️ team plays... Thank you Sir...
Having a center back so good like Morato on the bench show the level Benfica is getting!
yeah he was unlucky with the injury at beginning of season.
Morato vai jogar a titular na próxima época
Antônio silva vai ser vendido, se otamendi sair fica: morato e Lucas.
Boavista FC and Belenenses have won the league too.
Portuguese league also was won by Boavista and Belenenses one time each long time ago
Vlachodimos isn't really that good building from the back and is kinda bad with his feet, this is where he gets so criticism, however I love him as he's an amazing traditional keeper
In 1945/46 Belenenses won the league and in 2000/01 was Boavista the champion. Braga are ok but never won the league.
is it 100 years already since Guttman curse? .. 😂
There is no curse whatsoever. That is a myth
It sure has earned me some money to bet against benfica in finals though...
@@krentenbol3363 for sure. 10 European finals lost to this day. The myth might have had some effect. But it is simply a lie to claim Bela Guttmann said such things
Just a correction: Boavista and Belenenses have also won the Portuguese League. Many years ago, but they still belong in history
He’s talking about generally as Boavista and Belenenses only won it 1 time so he’s right that basically only Benfica, Porto and Sporting win the league .
Thank you for the love, it’s been a dream watching this Benfica team play as a Benfica fan (going to the stadium today)! let’s gooo ⚪️🔴🦅
Benfica has a chance to win the UCL because they have a Croatian in their team. That's like the biggest requirement to lift the trophy.
You talking of Musa?
The big 3 are not the only ones. Other teams have won the PL in the past: Boavista and Belenenses. Braga has come close in the past.
Nice Portugal shirt! 👏👏👏 From Euro 96 I think...
This makes me really want to do a Primeira Liga career mode on FIFA

Benfica x Napoli in the final. That’s what we all want!
0 trophies. and they havent faced a team like Real, Bayern or even city. if they win against any of those i could easily see them lifting the trophy, good luck
great video bro, you really have a great knowledge keep it up
They can and have proven how solid and bossy they can be against the likes of Juventus and PSG, let’s see what happens, but if they do win it would be the first time I’d cry because of football!
Great job :) Congrats well done
What about the Bela Guttmann curse?? The magical 100-year curse... I hope they break this curse finally... They have been 5 times runners up since their last win in 1962.
Thanks for the comments and analysis that you did about Benfica, i agree with them. Boavista in the beggining of 2000's (2001) was champions and in the 1946 Belenenses was national champion (just a detail).
it would be nice if they knockout city or bayern next round but idk if they can go all the way. a team like madrid could frustrate benfica with their plot armor.
I hope for an iberian peninsula derby
Benfica strike me as a team that is consistently.dominant. I was fully expecting Napoli to beat them but no befica do not care who is top dog they will win. On a good day they could win Europe against any team including man city
With the lack of recognizement from outside media. love this video
Inter: excuse me sir?
It won't happen.. but it would be amazing
Has this person ever seen them play? their goakeeper is dreadful playing out from the back, it's his biggest weakness by far, great shot stopper though
Is it 2062 yet? Yeah, I didn't think so

JJ is fantastic. En passant he managed correctly to predict Benfica facing Inter! Benfica will go thru.

Come on, noone really believes Benfica can win the UCL. They are a great team, but noone can realistically see them competing with Bayern, City or Madrid. Even Napoli is a big stretch.
Btw, I'm a Benfica fan and am loving this season.
Definitely got a higher chance now.
Call me crazy but I believe Joao Mario might be having the season of his life…

Really good analysis mate.

@@jules_laurent he’d probably negotiate himself to 200M
Vlachodimos is a really great keeper, I like him a lot, but we can't say that he is great with his feet he really isn't, he is a great shot stopper, between the sticks he is very good tho. I would say that he is very similar do De Gea
I lowkey believe its gonna be benfica vs bayern, benfica to win
Belenenses won the Portuguese league in the 50s and Boavista in 2000/2001
Love that shirt! In the good old National Team colors!
"Grimaldo one of the best left back in europe" meanwhile Luis Enrique "Nah I'm not gonna have him to go the world cup, let's play a LB that is over 30 years old, and a super youngster who isn't good enough against the top countries instead"
2:22 Boavista won once, I'm sure ( 2001)

So are y’all going to issue a correction or something after they crashed out to an Inter team sitting 5th in serie a? Surely you guys need to adjust something
