Enzo leaving the way he did could've gotten SL Benfica in a bad spot and put the rest of our season at risk, both in the "CL" as well as in the domestic competition "Liga Portugal". But, from the depths of oblivion, straight out of football limbo, emerged a supercharged hero called Chiquinho!!😅 Chiquinho just took the chance given and have been playing like he never did before and really proving his worth to the team!
As a benfiquista, I would love to be european champion, but we need to overcome Inter first and at least two more top class adversaries after them, whomever it ends up to be. It's tough. Really tough. But we're in the mix with all of them! As long as we're in it, we can win it!

We mainly play possession based football and use a 4231 narrow with the fullbacks playing as wingers when attacking. João Mario (right) and Aursnes (left) are intelligent and have freedom to roam around the pitch. Rafa (Neres) as number "10" play as a shadow striker and are usually the target for counters bc they're very fast. Aursnes benched Neres bc he's smarter and better at keeping the ball, so Neres started playing in the middle bc of his playstyle (fast dribbler just like Rafa). Chiquinho is a deep lying playmaker and Florentino stays up the pitch to put pressure immediately after loosing the ball.
All thanks to Schmidt, he's amazing. Very proud of Benfica 😁

The most crazy evolution that I've seened this year, of course, it was Chiquinho and Grimaldo. But João Mário this year, it's a thing that I have never seen in 26 years of football.
Such has João or Aursnes they can play in many positions, but I would never guess that they could play such a beautiful kinda "Iniesta passing line givers", it's so beautiful to see, that gives me goosebumps to watch and proud. Those things can destroy big teams and we are winning against Inter. They are in bad shape and form, and we're in it.

2 great Center Backs - one younger and one more experienced (WC winner Otamendi) - that allow the full backs to get involved in the attack, especially LWB Grimaldo, from the Barcelona academy, who is amazing on the ball, both creating for other players, as well as shooting from range.
Besides this, a very solid midfield, with very versatile players allow Benfica to be very unpredictable and adaptable and hard to stop. Aursnes is a jack of all trades and has been played in the center as well as wide, Florentino is great both on the ball as well as defensively. Also Chiquinho filled in the hole left by Enzo quite well, surprisingly
In the attack Benfica is all class. Ramos showed he can score a lot, but also make the last pass, Rafa and Guedes have both been very effective in that Shadow Striker position behind Ramos and this makes the team have many goal scorers and many attacking options, creating and unpredictable attack.
Neres and João Mário have also been amazing. Neres as a dribbler who can unlock tough defenses by himself and J.Mário as a wide playmaker as well as a finisher, showing up in the box in the end of the plays (and he scored the most goals in the Portuguese League)

    We do have a Formation.
4:2:3:1 "90's Ajax Style mixed with German High Pressing" 😅🦅
    #1 Vlachodimos
    #2 Bah
    #3 António Silva
    #4 Otamendi
    #5 Grimaldo
    #6 Florentino
    #8 Chiquinho
    #11 João Mário
    #10 Rafa
    #9 Gonçalo Ramos
    #7 David Neres
Aursnes has been playing in the #11 position pushing João Mário to the #7 position. The team is more stable and has more ball possession with Aursnes instead of Neres. Although Neres can change the game at anytime. But this formation is just a base for the dynamics you show in the video, amoung others. Besides that every player is different and introduces variety to the system.

Good analysis. They do have a formation its a 442 basically. Wether its LB and RB doing the wingers or its RM and LM. In Reality Benfica plays with 4 Pivots. 2 Always and the Wingers play in the mid and upfront as strikers to get space for Bah and Grimaldo (LB and RB) the wingers are the full backs. So attacking formation its normally 2-2-4-2. Wether it being Center Backs beggining the offense or the Midfield. Certain players like Neres play more on the wing towards middle all the rest their workrate they are basically midfielders even Gonçalo Ramos and Rafa they go back alot to find spaces for the wings.

Thats right, the man to man pressing eventhough can be very tiring, benfica has the proper players to do it. By winning the ball earlier it not only avoids danger on the back but also creates oportunities of goal. It wont be easy for a team to constantly use long balls to flank. It requires risk whatever is the opponent s quality, it is not easy to fightback a team that plays like this, but you need to have the proper players to do so. Plus, facing benfica at home with 65000 throats wont be easy, to anyone.

Aursenes can play as CDM it is his original position and theres also João Neves who is a big prospect , but in my opinion Florentino is the Man holding the midfiled , chiquinho cant replace Enzo on a attacking sense but is slightly better at defending and that allows grimaldo to make a lot more runs than he ussualy does because chiquinho covers his space.

As an Inter fan id say Benfica def have the upper hand. Our season went to shit but something about Inzaghi I've learnt is he's a really hard manager to beat in europe. Klopp was very lucky last season if it wasn't for sanchez getting a red card. Inter still have a great team and our losses are very deceiving this season.
