My whole respect goes to the guy on the keys. 7 minutes of disciplin.
I adore this comment, and I always will x
Your comment made me think of Steve Reich… which reminded me of James Murphy's Reich-inspired remix of a Bowie song.
@@patrickbenson3522 I hadn't known till now. Thanks for that. She is pretty good on the keys.
@@lewisreutlingen wasn't meant to be critical of your comment at all but she's great and I want to spread the word! (New album out soon I think)
As good as the performance is, it's the very slight human imperfections that makes it perfect.
This song has got a 'this is the only place I need to be right now' feel to it. A weird blend of nostalgia and future optimism.
Tears to eyes man
That's literally the perfect description, i know exactly what you mean.
I've never read a more accurate description for lcd soundsystem
you've perfectly put into words my exact feelings about this band and this song in particular which I've never quite been able to describe before. nice one!!
Well done u
When I heard this for the first time, after about 1 minute I thought: "Those keys are going to get a bit irritating if they don't change". 7 minutes later: "That's one of THE best songs I've ever heard".
Yeah I agree I don’t know why but it’s just fucking incredible
So, then, in celebration of paradoxes. “All My Friends” is happy and it’s sad. It’s naïve, but also disillusioned. It can make you feel twenty again. It makes you feel forty before your time. It makes you feel twenty and forty at once. It spirals into drug-fueled escapism, and it spirals into nostalgia. It’s mature. It’s the sound of sobering up. It’s the song you play as the party peaks. It’s the song you put on headphones when you walk home in the early hours of the morning, and some nights you triumphantly reminisce about all the experiences of your life, but maybe the edges are haunted and just as you step up to your front door and Murphy’s last refrain echoes “If I could see all my friends tonight” you also know you’re searching, too, that you feel all the dejection and isolation that’ve been as much a part of these last thirteen years as a new online version of community, or as much as anything else. It’s a song about 1987 and 1997 and 2007 and probably 2017. Even weighed down by all of this, it still moves. And because we have no other option, because this is our new millennium life: We still move, too.
- Stereogum - Ryan Leas - 2013
That is fucking glorious.
I've never cried at a RUclips comments before but here we are
Fuckin eh man
Goosebumps
Whoa
God I could never imagine my life without music.
This song hits harder at each year that passes
Fucking True
I'm feeling that, man. Enjoy the times as they come, because one day, they'll be done...
I’m not even having a laugh when I say that this could possibly be the greatest song ever
this song hits hard when you're in your mid 30s and you don't go out drinking until the sun comes up with your friends anymore like you did in your early 20s.
Can't wait to be in the crowd screaming along to them playing this at Glasto this year.
I want to go this year soooooo bad, I hope i get in on resale
I'll be there with ya
SO HARD!
I'm 29 years old and I have no idea what direction my life is going in; I'm lying in bed watching this with tears streaming down my face and I don't know why
I know that feeling mate.
Same here
Same thing and I’m 47
Know what you mean brother good to know you are not alone in that feeling.
hang in there truly, you are not alone 🙂😊🫶🏼
I don’t remember too many details of this night, but dancing and screaming this with my friends is one of the happiest, most visceral memories of my life. We danced, we cried, we hugged, and danced some more!
Weren’t like that in the points of view tent 😂😂
Just saw them at Brixton Academy. 2 of the best hours of my life.
lcd sound system in a nutshell
The drummer has such good articulation of the groove and you can clearly hear every note he’s playing...
He's absolutely bossing it here
he's a professional drummer, also this is very good mixing/sound engineering
“I wouldn’t trade one stupid decision for another five years of life”
Unfortunately stupid decisions dinnae work like that felly
I paused listening to LCD Soundsystem so I could watch this
I get a bit teary eyed watching this now. I was there, hadn't seen LCD before. Really only knew that song but myself and some friends took a chance and it paid off and then some. We fell instantly in love with them from the first song. That final song though.. That weekend was a tiring weekend of drizzle and mud. Everywhere you went took twice as much effort (but still an amazing weekend). So when he sang, "if you're worried about the weather then you picked the wrong place to stay", in the video you can hear a little of the crowd cheer - but I was there, the place erupted!
that’s sick
you hear about 'glasto moments' ... that was definitely a massive one for the crowd. Epic gig.
I still got goosebumps when I listened to this. Easily, the best song by LCD Soundsystem.
oh baby asks for a recount.
class tune
DUDE I read this as goosebumps were creeping all over
One of my top 3 favourite songs of all time.
James Murphy is The love of My life.
And "All My Friends" is the definitive song of my life.
The drummer has next level stamina. Respect
Exactly what I thought. And the piano. Wow.
This song is right up there with some of the finest iv'e ever heard in over 57 years of listening to great music, that is ever since I was 7 in 1963 and my mam brought the first Beatles singles into the house.
One of the all time great Glastonbury moments. Proud to say I was there.
Is this the greatest song of all time? It makes me feel everything, all at once
Never noticed how New Order/Joy Division influenced their sound is until now
yuh
They always were....
Wat a twat it’s a good song
its not easy to be somber and catchy at the same time. few master the sound.
I mean he mentioned joy division from his first single
the "this is how it starts" line truly Crosses generations
This song is on par with 1979 & Temptation for the most nostalgic song of all time
Temptation by New Order?
and Melancholy Hill too
Temptation & age of consent & this
Fade to Grey by Visage is the essence of nostalgia for me...
I'd throw in 93 'til infinity by Souls of Mischief too
I paused LCD on Spotty to watch this!
I miss live music SO much! So so very thankful I saw LCD close with this song at Splendour in the Grass 2017, I wouldn't trade it for another 5 years of life
All the albums of this band are masterpieces.
Seriously. Un fucking believable
Saw them live in london a few years dgo have to say they are one of if not the best live band ive ever seen
i just turned eighteen and this song, even though i’m still very very young brings back memories and when i was a little child and gives me glimpses of me when i 39 it’s saddening but exciting it’s a strange feeling to have but i hope i never lose the feeling
I'm 19 and I feel that too, I'm scared that I will end.up isolated from all my friends and alone
21 here and this song destroys me, live life bruh I’d give everything to go back when I was 18 so I could do things the right way
That's how it starts
We go back to your house
We check the charts
And start to figure it out
And if it's crowded, all the better
Because we know we're gonna be up late
But if you're worried about the weather
Then you picked the wrong place to stay
That's how it starts
And so it starts
You switch the engine on
We set controls for the heart of the sun
One of the ways we show our age
And if the sun comes up, if the sun comes up, if the sun comes up
And I still don't wanna stagger home
Then it's the memory of our betters
That are keeping us on our feet
You spent the first five years trying to get with the plan
And the next five years trying to be with your friends again
You're talking 45 turns just as fast as you can
Yeah, I know it gets tired, but it's better when we pretend
It comes apart
The way it does in bad films
Except in parts
When the moral kicks in
Though when we're running out of the drugs
And the conversation's winding away
I wouldn't trade one stupid decision
For another five years of life
You drop the first ten years just as fast as you can
And the next ten people who are trying to be polite
When you're blowing eighty-five days in the middle of France
Yeah, I know it gets tired only where are your friends tonight?
And to tell the truth
Oh, this could be the last time
So here we go
Like a sail's force into the night
And if I made a fool, if I made a fool, if I made a fool
On the road, there's always this
And if I'm sewn into submission
I can still come home to this
And with a face like a dad and a laughable stand
You can sleep on the plane or review what you said
When you're drunk and the kids leave impossible tasks
You think over and over, "hey, I'm finally dead"
Oh, if the trip and the plan come apart in your hand
You look contorted on yourself your ridiculous prop
You forgot what you meant when you read what you said
And you always knew you were tired, but then
Where are your friends tonight?
Where are your friends tonight?
Where are your friends tonight?
If I could see all my friends tonight
If I could see all my friends tonight
If I could see all my friends tonight
If I could see all my friends tonight
One of the best lyrics of all time!
This is the greatest song I've ever seen live
I live in Western Ma.... went to get gas about a year ago and while at the pump the person that pulled up next to me had an LCD Soundsystem “DiscoBall” shirt on, it absolutely triggered me and kicked in my musical nerd persona. we spent a good 10 minutes discussing LCDSS as well as the plethora of music that came out of that NYC scene from the early 2000’s. might be silly, but still to this day it fills my heart that there’s others out there that appreciate this caliber of music. I really just hope that this band and sound continues to live on forever and the next generation appreciates how epic and beautiful these songs are. James M. really gives me hope in regards to “ it doesn’t matter how old you are, you can still leave your mark on the world”...
Amazing performance from one of my favourite bands
watching them is like seeing your friends for the first time in a long time..
What a beautiful song. Always gets me
I keep coming back to this through lockdown, it's a shame they took the full set off iPlayer. I was there, and I'm so lucky to be able to say that.
Tom Thornton I’ve been trying to find the full set everywhere but could only find an audio only version . Coldplay’s fireworks sets this song off beautifully 👍
@@iantonorth4188 It's true, I can remember that so clearly. And everyone had the Coldplay colour-changing wristbands at LCD!
In 2016 when I first watched this live it totally blew my mind. It was like an everyday pill for me. And then BBC took it away. So happy to see this back on RUclips again.
Perfect live version of All My Friends. With Keyboardist either robotically or shamanly holds the whole beauty of the song and plays that tune for almost 8 minutes; Look at his face at 6:28
The whole song start kickin'-in at the end; Murphy and Doyle go crazy at 5:30
James makes mistakes in lyrics at 6:39
And this heartwarming "please get home safely" at the end.
I love every part of this performance.
Brilliant!
I am literally crying
Me too
I was there and it was more epic than the first time. Incredible experience
They should be headlining, amazing band and awesome live.
The 36 people who disliked this are the ones who were worried about the weather
I remember the first time I heard this song my music producer friend and I were in high school and really into Franz Ferdinand, we were on the school computers in class looking up music and Franz Ferdinand had done a cover of this song so we looked up the original and instantly fell in love with LCD Soundsystem, we've seen them twice live since, their/his music brings back so many great memoires with my friend try searching Lonely Gimmick - Stay At Home To Sleep In, we've been through a lot together so I wanna throw him some love. He's a music producer and that's his music. He's really talented and deserves more recognition. He does it all himself a lot like James Murphy
Do you ever stop spamming your shtty song. I see your same comment on every video
I need to see them live UGH
That's how it starts...

Am I doing this right?
The best set ending there has ever been
Just blown away for 7 minutes but for an eternity I guess ❤️ amazing that's Glastonbury
brings a tear of joy every time
Right from the heart
This is definitely one of my Funeral songs. Such a bloody great tune. 💥
Happiness resides here X
that was incredible
Always amazing 👌
Extraordinary! Thank you Glastonbury. Thank you LCD Sound System! One day in #Mauritius I rêve 🇲🇺
I promise the end is going to be a spectacular. Something for the entire world to watch
Im FINALLY seeing these guys next month. Man I'm ready to ball my eyes during this song
I've only just discovered this! What a hell of a performance!!!! I love this! 👍😀
Oh my God, this version is just too intense. I'm watching this during Covid-19 lockdown (March 2021), we've been in lockdown on and off for a year now and this fuck@@g epidemic is not slowing down, at least in Italy. When will we be able to go to another concert like this?
yea man idk hopefully it gets better
Have now been in the world's longest lockdown of cities over 1M people here in Toronto. 318 days (and counting) of restaurants closed; and of course no concerts since the day of the original Ontario state of emergency declaration on March 17, 2020.
Videos like this keeping me sane.
The mud at Glastonbury that year was of biblical proportions and the crowd was pretty exhausted by they came on stage. Great set in difficult conditions
This is AWESOME
6:01 is how I always dance to this song.
This goes all my Friends.👍😜🤪🙉🙉
This makes me think of amazing memories of my family and friends
Amazing and sooo focussed
This song picks me up every time.
Lembro-me de New Order quando ouço essa música. Esse cara é 'o cara' no cenário da música. Tá de dentro e de fora! Sem palavras!
It just makes me think about how I want to see all of my friends tonight. And I always want to see all of my friends tonight, but some are no longer here, and it makes the song a lot deeper for me. I've cried so many times to this song after supping a bottle of Jameson's.
Damn, sometimes certain songs are like a shot of adrenaline and a gut punch at the same time. I havent so cherished a song like this in well over a decade. Its a F'n cornucopia of emotions. Love listening to this song on my electric skateboard going over 30 mph down an empty road early in the morning by the ocean. I am flying in more ways than one ❤
The Brexit result on Friday morning followed by three days of insane, tiring mud. We needed that party and LCD brought it! One of my fave shows of 18 Glastonburys. Shame there wasn't more crowd shots in this because you'd have seen 100% vibes.
Amazing 😭
I love the monotonous of the music and great lyrics of this song.
The best band ever!
When it comes to James Murphy and LCD Soundsystem you can say that 'you saw that song" and you can mean live, in concert or in your mind a million times when not wanting to deal with whatever the true reality was at that time.
They sound great. Looking forward to seeing them next month at the Fox in Oaktown
i,m 66 heard this yesterday for the first time!!! Just what have i been doing.
Better late than never
Best version ever
All this tune and memories I have is we are all free to be wat ever we want x
Awesome.......simply awesome.
I was there in the mud and the shit. Then on the Sunday when i just had had enough, this bless came on stage. Ill never forget it.
the best music of 21st century
Great great great!!!
Well, we're doing it again this year. I can't wait!
angela merkel has done it again
The fireworks in the background ! Wow!
This songs is the best song for dancing in a gig and making riot
Amazing song even better live
Epic
The best.
when you are watching them play this live it blows your bollox and brains off, unbelievable
i wish they could come back
Man, this honestly made that nightmare of a mud pit glastonbury worth it
Mid -January 2021. FUCKING hell we need these hopeful wise tunes now my friends x.
Nailed it.
This is the only song ever made that makes you break your heart about pals that you lost touch with for reasons that were not important at the time
Playing keys on this song has the same energy of “I’m gonna be shucking oysters all day, aren’t I
“
I can’t believe I just discovered this song in 2023-I don’t know to be happy or sad that I did not find it sooner.
