Just purchased this, hoping someone can provide some clarification. Does each pump need a dedicated check valve, since they share exit it seems if the primary failed the secondary would pump some through the primary and into the sump. I just bought one and can confirm this seems how it works from a simple blow test into the outlet. Secondarily can you confirm trickle charge voltage. Some reviews stated that it is a fixed amperage and overcharges the battery. If so I plan to run a battery tender separately.
The check valve is in the PVC pipe above the "Y" pipe, so you only need one. I haven't checked the voltage, but I'm pretty sure it is a constant voltage. I could take a few data points when I have time. For what it's worth, I'm still using the original battery.
Would do diddly squat if the city's sewer are incapacitated which is the number one reason why it flooded in the first place. Best to have a secondary pump rid the water out other than the main drain.
Yup. This doesn't solve a long term power outage. However, I've only heard my sump pump run 4 times in 5 years. So this still feels pretty safe, but it is still technical possible to have issues. Thanks for the comment.
Bought this pump and installed it with a new battery. After a year the power failure red light came on, alarm sounds nonstop and the backup pump doesn't work. Any ideas?
I just installed the system and hooked up the battery. When I tested the backup pump, I unplugged the main pump and waited for the backup pump's floater to rise. When the water got high enough, I heard a noise from what I assume is the other pump, but the water did not drain. Any idea what might be wrong?
I wish I could help but its tough to troubleshoot this way. You might want to call tech support through the manufacturer. Please come back and update us once you figure out the issue.
I used to have a two stage sump pump and glad I did cause big storm came by 1 week after installing. The cover on your sump pump, do you have a radon issue?
I don't have a radon issue, but the builder installs radon reduction systems standard in this area. Wisconsin thing maybe. My last Wisconsin house was boarderline.
Honestly, I don't remember the model number, but I if you search online or go to a batteries plus store, you should be able to find one with the specs I mentioned in my video. Thanks for the comment.
The inverter keeps failing and overcharging the battery. The pumps and floats are fantastic but the inverter system just keeps failing and it’s a very expensive system to fail like that. Trying to find something a little more reliable. Reliability is because my sump pump runs about every five minutes every single day of the year. I must live on some sort of high water table.
How do you know when it fails? I have heard that is a common issue with these types of systems. There has to be a better, maybe more expensive, solution to upgrade that part of the system.
@@HowIDoThingsDIY also because of my high water table I need not only my primary but my secondary pump to be able to pump at least 2500 gallons at 10 feet even on battery because I do lose power several times throughout the year. My last option is I’m thinking about skipping the whole inverter system and battery back up system and just putting in a whole house generator but that’s going to cost me around 10 to 15,000. But I have had my basement flood four different times so maybe that’s what I need to do.
@@nathanchapel5950 Wow!!! That sounds pretty serious. Mine only runs like 2 times a year. Is there an issue with the grading of your home or is it just water that's already in the ground? That's crazy.
@@HowIDoThingsDIY have never been able to figure it out. I am actually thinking about getting a civil engineer out to help me figure it out. I think it’s an underground spring. Because it could not rain for a month or so and it still kicks on every five minutes. It’s literally never not ran and I’ve lived in this house for 11 years
As soon as I connect the battery to the box, it blows the fuse. I've gone through a dozen fuses. I checked the battery and it's a normal 12.6V. Any ideas? There's a tropical storm coming in a few hours 🫤
You have to have a short or something connected wrong. Have you reached out to the manufacturer? I'm sorry I can't be more helpful. It's very hard to diagnose a problem like this without being there.
Bought this one a year ago but didn't install it until today. The big and immediately problem is that the main pump just keeps running when float already reached the bottom. I even manually push the float level all the way up and down but the main pump just won't stop until unplugging the power. Don't know what to do now. The secondary pump works well.
@@HowIDoThingsDIY Not yet. I will contact them on Monday. I don't think that they work on weekend. I bought this from Home Depot. I think that the warranty with Home Depot expired.
Gotta love upper Midwest basements. Always an adventure in moving water around. 😂
But totally worth it!

My sump pump water exits on the side of my house and into the overflow pond, not in the sewer. Thanks for the comment!
@@HowIDoThingsDIY Yes clearly shown in video, it is usually illegal in most areas to dump to sewer anyway
Thank you : )
You're welcome!
I see you having issues if power is out for an extended time. Get yourself a small generator to run the 120v pump just in case

How did you fit the battery connectors on that battery? The Wayne connectors are M6 and you mention that the battery is M8. Thanks!
I'm sorry I didn't mention that. I just went to the hardware store and bought wing nuts to match the battery terminals.

Maybe it wasn't charging properly? I'd contact the manufacturer. I haven't had any issues. Try charging the battery and hooking it back up.
What are your long term thoughts about this system. My ion system has failed for the second time in 6 years. Time for a new brand.
Pretty good. But I'm sure I'll need to replace the battery every few years. But the pumps seem very high quality. What failed on your system.

It did, but I reused the one in my existing setup.
what size basin did you use?
I didn't change it so its whatever came with the house when it was built.
Get that battery off the floor!
Good idea! I'll come up with something to bring it up. Thanks for the suggestion!
Do you keep the charger plug on the outlet?
Yes, the charger stays plugged in.
