Thanks to this series I decided to leave college and follow my dream of becoming a pilot; I would run home during the lunch break to fix me a fast meal and watch Stingray until one day I decided not to go back to class, enjoyed lunch and next day got a job which would allow me to pay for my flying lessons. The happiest day and my best decision ever. Thank you Gerry Anderson!

I was just a kid when these shows came out. I loved all of them. Yes, we fully understood the characters were marionettes. It didn’t matter, just added to the charm. We were impressed with the creativity, especially when sets were blown up. Great fun. Stand by for action!

I love how bits of each show (sets and puppets) turned up in later shows. Kinda sets them all in the same Anderverse.

There was actually a crossover from stingray to Thunderbirds in the form of Gordon Tracy's back story. Gordon Tracy of Thuderbird 4 was actually trained by W.A.S.P before becoming Thunderbird 4's Helmsman.

It's a shame that the Gerry Anderson team never made a CGI reboot Series of Stingray just like they did for New Captain Scarlet 2005 and Thunderbirds Are Go back in 2015 because I always wanted to see what the characters would look like in the CGI version.

There's no comparison between CGI and the absolute artistry of Supermarionation.

The whole charm of these programmes is that they are made using marionettes, and they are imperfect, it's a similar thing with the stop frame animation movies, the charm is in the way it was made. In fifty odd years time people will probably look back at today's CGI generated characters with the same nostalgic affection.

I was 5 when it first showed. Instant playground hit and the TV21 comic was a must have. I only managed to get from issue 2 onwards thanks to Mum forgetting to get issue 1. Never did manage to get a copy no matter what i offered for swapsies. Bathtime, ofc took on a whole new level of fun with Stingray themed everything. Had to be dragged out the almost cold bathwater several times. Ahhhh it was a good time to be 5.

I grew up in the 60's watching Stingray and Thunderbirds. In fact I remember watching Thunderbirds on the big screen at the cinema on a weekly basis when they used to have the Saturday morning pictures shows put on for the kids of the day. Just recently I have been watching Stingray again on the TV, and it hasn't lost any of it's magic. And yes I always used to hope that they would do a Stingray /Thunderbirds crossover. It would be FAB.

I like that the shows cross over in the comics, but in the shows, it makes no sense them all being in the same continuity, like in Thunderbirds our ability to travel in space is nowhere near as advanced as in Fireball XL5, and Thunderbird 4 near encounters the WASPs - though I believe Gordon was a member of the WASPs before joining International Rescue in the comics, so I like that it can be head cannon some of the time.

It was always fun to recognise reused puppets between shows for us while we watched them. I'm sure if these shows were made today there'd be several episodes featuring interconnected stories! 😄
I can just imagine some new and futuristic floating city being unveiled, escorted by the W.A.S.P. with The Mysterons threatening to destroy it. I'm sure Captain Scarlet would be on the verge of drowning under some rubble while trying to stop it from being destroyed. Picturing his reaction to Marina coming to his rescue makes me smile. 😅

I had the plastic model for use in my bath - I was five at the time.
My last job before I retired was in the Royal Navy Headquarters - I desperately wanted to play the opening 30 seconds of the theme tune over the PA to the full 1,000 person capacity.
I knew many would have chuckled, but the then Second Sea Lord may have had a huge sense of humour failure and my 37 pension banished beyond reach…

    • @FireStormDel
      @FireStormDel 5 месяцев назад +1

If Big Finish gets the okay to do it, I'd say have it be a three-way crossover with them and Captain Scarlet given I remember one of the Captains (Grey I think) being a former WASP agent.
As for general crossovers, I'd love to see either Captain Scarlet or UFO with Doctor Who, though preferably with era accurate Doctors to when the respective Anderson shows aired.
So we'd have The Second Doctor working with Captain Scarlet to stop a Mysteron/Dalek alliance, while on the other hand, we have The Third Doctor and UNIT clashing and eventually working with Ed Straker and SHADO.

I’d like to see a short 4 film Gerry Anderson universe. With stingray, thunderbirds and captain scarlet getting their own live action film finishing up with a team up in the 4th avengers style. But please make the film for adults so that those of us that watched as kids and are now adults can enjoy it. Let’s not have a repeat of the early 2000s thunderbirds movie please.
